  1. Hopefully KD requests a trade again!
  2. I mean it’s unpractical to think that you want to strip it down almost bare but have the current young guys wait it out and want to stay. So if you’re going to rebuild really only Hughes has enough term that he’d still be locked in for when you’d expect to be good.
  3. As much as you kind of want to do this. It wasn’t long ago when Pettersson said on signing his next contract he wants to play for a winning team. You trade both those players for futures we’ll be near the bottom for a bit and he could potentially ask for a trade.
  4. Have your cake and eat it too! Would have loved moves like this during our rebuild years! Schenn is awesome brings so much heart and leadership to this group. If you can’t get at least a 2nd round pick I’d rather not risk it and just re-sign him.
  5. Boqvist is awesome! He has a cannon of a shot and steps up as an extra forward really well. I’ve proposed trades to steal him away. The injury history and Columbus’ depth on young RHD might make him expendable in Columbus. Hasn’t broken out yet but I still think he could become a 50 point dman. Only problem is he’s small and we have Hughes and potentially Rathbone. I would start to worry about all our dmen being pushovers against big teams.
  6. Pass on undersized centers that can’t win faceoffs! That means he’s an undersized bottom 6 winger that gets paid 2 million. We just gave up a 2nd round pick to get rid of an overpriced underperforming winger why do people want another one?
  7. They should just do that anyway and not claim Jost!
  8. I don’t think Detroit would make this trade! They aren’t really in a position to trade premium prospects to move up their window.
  9. What a terrible decision to extend him. He was signing his deal and likely first year into the deal was going to be pushed to the 3rd line! 3+ million is too much for a 3rd line winger. What another terrible use of cap space.
  10. Package Poolman and Pearson for Zaitsev. Frees up some cap for next offseason so we can retain Horvat and or Kuzmenko.
  11. It isn’t really a rebuild move though. I mean maybe in the sense that Boqvist is out with a broken foot so wouldn’t be on the roster for a bit. However you’re subtracting one roster player for 2 roster players and Boqvist playing the position of our biggest need. Boqvist is 22 and Roslovic is 25 so it’s not like getting picks and prospects you’re getting 2 roster players for 1 roster player. Any other trade for Horvat is likely from a contending team that won’t want to part with roster players with upside they’ll want to go for the cup and give you nothing but picks, prospects and salary matchers.
  12. Depends what you believe Boqvist can become. I still think he has potential to be a 50+ point RHD. He’s been very unfortunate with injuries to start his young career and Columbus being loaded at RHD might deal from a position of strength to help the Center depth on their team. Roslovic off to a slow start this year but Horvat is an obvious upgrade. However Roslovic could be a 50 point right handed Center. If a deal is to be made for Horvat I like getting both a young RHD with massive upside and a Center that flashes 2nd line ability.
  13. Bo with extension for Roslovic and Boqvist from Columbus.
  14. John Marino makes slightly less than what they signed Mikeyev for this summer. Which means we could have kept Boeser. Already have Garland, Podkolzin, Boeser, Kuzmenko, Hoglander, and Pearson for top 9 wingers and with our 2 best prospects also being wingers in Klimovich and Lekkerimaki. Just seemed like an extremely poor choice in cap space usage.
  15. Jeeze Buffalo couldn’t have waived him like 4 days ago! Could have saved us Myrenberg!
  16. Surprised a rebuilding team with cap space didn’t jump on this. Could have done a 5th rounder with no retention. If he plays well you have the choice to lock him in or flip him at the trade deadline for a lot more than a 5th round pick next season. Good pickup by management here.
  17. Sucks to lose a RHD prospect that we are very thin on but the kid is still very much a long shot. Just wish a Center comparable to Studnika hit the waiver wire and we didn’t even need to trade at all. Oh well here’s hoping Studs excels and has a slighlty better career than Myrenberg lol.
  18. Plus it would suck to lose our waiver claim spot on another fringe player in a position we definitely don’t need.
  19. A 24 year old winger that hasn’t carved out a spot on the roster yet. Doesn’t play a premium position so I can see why. Wingers like this are a dime a dozen.
  20. Wait we want another fringe NHL winger? Hard pass!
  21. Makes sense! At this point I’d rather sign his dad and he hasn’t played in like 24 years.
