  1. I’m not so sure NJD trade that pick if that’s the case. They were one of the teams that asked Slafkovsky if he could play center. I think they value centers more at the top of the draft and that’s why they’re dangling Slafkovsky in the first place. If Wright fell to 2 I’m sure they’d much rather move Holtz+ then Wright. If the Canucks like Slafkovsky they should make the trade before the draft starts because if Montreal shocks the NHL you get Wright instead who is the more premium position prospect.
  2. I think they would be but they’re not including Byfeld or Clarke in any of the trades. A lot of there other prospects while still decent potential haven’t really shown well early into their AHL and NHL careers
  3. Kotkaniemi is a 6 million dollar 3rd line center with potential. I like my young 3rd line center with potential to be cheap. Not pay him what he could be worth before he’s really earned it. For that alone I’d steer clear from Kotkaniemi. Also DeAngelo is an RFA so his value could be a nice toss in on the trade. Something better from Carolina would be Necas, DeAngelo and one of Morrow or Drury.
  4. The world class talents are the top 2 picks. If you’re thinking NJD’s young guys take a step plus adding in JT Miller you’re not getting Bedard or Michkov. They’d likely pick around 8-13 with their roster improvements on this trade. I’d rather have Slafkovsky then their future 1rst round pick.
  5. I think he was 2nd line for them. I think they were rocking the kid line as their 3rd line. Copp I think could be like a Hyman but also help Pettersson on the draws like Miller did because he’s pretty good at faceoffs.
  6. Thanks! Yeah it hurt to punt on the potential of both Hoglander and Rathbone but that’s what Vegas would be looking for good depth on cheap contracts. Trying to get a little bigger in the process with that trade idea as well.
  7. A couple off-season trades JT Miller to Columbus for Boqvist, 12th overall and Texier Pearson to LA Kings for Lemieux and a 2nd round pick Rathbone, Hoglander and Dermott to Vegas for Roy and Hague in free agency we pick up Kuzmenko, Copp and Deslaurier Copp Pettersson Boeser Kuzmenko Horvat Garland Texier Roy Podkolzin Deslaurier Lamikko Lemieux Dickinson Hughes Schenn OEL Boqvist Hague Myers Poolman Demko Martin Now with the picks 12th I’m taking Korchinski or Mintyukov and 15th I’m taking Lambert and with wherever that LA’s 2nd is I’m taking David Goyette (everybody sleeping on this prospect)
  8. You just said it the only good winger they had was Hyman. They have two 100+ point centers that he’d likely be playing with one of them. The Canucks seem to be looking at trading our top point getter and Center in Miller so our top two centers will be Pettersson (68 points) and Horvat (52 points) or he could have a chance to ride shotgun beside McDavid (123 points) and Draisaitl (110 points). He’s signing a one year rookie contract with the idea of padding his stats and signing a nice contract next summer. If I was in his position doing a one year deal to pad my stats I know which team I’d pick and I’m a die hard Canucks fan.
  9. Kane was probably already priced out of Edmonton. Also rumblings of his contract might be reinstated and be back in SJ. If not he plays a nice heavy game and on the right salary he could be a good option for us on a team that seems to be and play very small.
  10. It will be whichever team has the best 2 centers. For him to pad his stats on a big payday next year it makes sense to pick Edmonton. McDavid 123 points this year on one line and Draisaitl 110 points on the other line. Then in terms of wingers in the top 6 there’s not that much there. I’d be really surprised if it isn’t Edmonton.
  11. Was hoping they’d let him go and we could sign him. He’ll be a great bottom 6 guy for them next year.
  12. Smith has kind of been overpriced and just okay for a couple years now. With salary troubles and him being 31 years old I’d imagine they just let him walk but yes they still need to clear cap to sign Roy and Hague those guys are valuable pieces. If we had cap space I’d try to take advantage of them in a trade for one our both those guys.
  13. Sammy Blais is an RFA for the Rangers I quite liked him on his St Louis days. Guy has some sandpaper to his game. Maybe temp a cap strapped NYR with an incoming offer sheet or they trade him to us for a mid pick.
  14. Doesn’t tend on re-upping for a price they are willing to pay. I think JT is more than happy to stay but the term and dollars his agent is asking for is probably too steep for JR and co to want to pay.
  15. I know he could ask for 12 so a discount at around 9.5-10.5 mill seems way to generous. But even at that you still have account for that raise at his current 6.3 million. That’s shedding another Burakovsky or Nichushkin type contract off the books to make room for the raise.
  16. They 100% flubbed it. This year was one of their good years. Still had Zibanejad and Fox on cheaper deals now you have to factor that cap space into next season. Kreider 31 years old just had his best season ever and could start taking a dip in production. They have a lot of youth and they’ll have many years of making the playoffs but as contenders I’m not so sure. With the core of Panarin, Zib and Kreider that was their best year to win it. You could say even more so for Colorado as they won’t have the cap space to bring back all of Kadri, Burakovsky and Nichushkin. Then the following year MacKinnon will be getting a huge raise off his 6.3 mill a year contract where he could maybe be asking for double to what he’s getting paid now.
  17. Stanley cup teams pay more for salary help. Look at Hagel’s return for Chicago. It’s not like the Miller contract is long.
  18. The trade I was hoping for was Schnieder, Othmann and a 1rst. Chytil was my throw in for salary purposes and we’d retain 50% of Millers contract. I just think other rumoured teams have better prospects then entitled will bolt Kravtsov and a very underwhelming Kakko, Lundkvist and Chytil. They don’t want to part with their good prospects they just want to give us more average ones. Like 100 point centers that play in every situation and can bring the heavy style playoff game is worth a bunch of okay prospects but not one good one.
  19. The best thing for the JT Miller market is for the three-peat to happen. Instead of the Avs paying for Lehkonen they could have probably used that package included Newhook and a future 1rst and potentially gotten JT Miller for 2 cup runs. I’m cheering for Tampa!
  20. They have lots 6th, 12th and 44th for intriguing picks young RHD prospect Boqvist and decent young roster fillers like Texier, Bemstrom and Robinson. Honestly if Columbus and or NJD are interested I would much prefer an offer they could come up with over this crap B level prospect NYR offers we keep hearing about. The only piece I kind of want from the Rangers is Laf. Schnieder seems to be held in a much higher regard making his price tag higher than he should be worth.
  21. Do they though? Is Kadri playing? Is Keumper playing?
  22. Right! Not only that but the no go on the trade from the prospect we were rumoured to be asking for was averaging like 9 minutes a game. Kind of feel like they wasted a good year to go all in.
  23. Love seeing NYR falling short. Not wanting to part with Schneider in a deal for Miller might have them upping their offer in the summer. Maybe with Miller they’d have made it to the finals. Here’s hoping for the threepeat so Colorado can also think back to what if we just spent a little more and got JT Miller.
  24. I was thinking Brenden Lemieux (somebody to actually throw a hit in our bottom 6) or Lias Anderson (good friend of Petterssons) and a 2nd rounder for Pearson.
