  1. Staal is the better player offensively but Sutter brings some very appealing aspects to a playoff team. You’d be getting a great defensive bottom 6 Center that’s great at face offs and penalty killing. He’s better suited for that role than Staal at his age imo.
  2. Playoffs is a faster game. Not sure how much I like the add. Somebody above said Sutter similar return I think if you retained 50% of Sutter you could get a similar or better return. Sutter is a good face off and penalty kill guy!
  3. I’d say Wahlstrom equivalent to what we’d want for Podkolzin and Bellows is trending to be a bottom 6 guy. Turns 23 this summer and would probably cost the equivalent to Lind. Honestly with them needing a top 6 you could probably send them Pearson with Bellows being the main piece coming back but I’d honestly rather have a 2nd round pick where we can get a guy with top 6 potential.
  4. Give me all the picks! Have a talk with Hamonic about giving him a chance at a cup but also that we’d be interested in him coming back on a multi year deal after the expansion draft.
  5. I don’t know about lost but the hype is different. They’re less flashy because podz looks to have a higher chance of being a top 6 and Rathbone a higher chance of being a top 4. Every prospect that makes it is awesome because it’s all part of the puzzle. So everybody I’m sure are still keeping on all Canucks property just posting less then they do about our high profile guys. The Chicago Blackhawks during their run of championships! They had great drafting where they were able to lock in their top guys and when it came down to paying the help they were able to trade them for a good return and replace them within. That’s how I hope to see our team be like in the future.
  6. The kid is an absolute warrior! He does it all! Crazy thing is next game is no guarantee as the coach likes to bench him every other game.
  7. Think if this was a year earlier and Minnesota really liked Hoglander so they offered you Donato. What more would you want to move the needle for you. I know adding a 2nd wouldn’t do it for me. I already know I got a guy I like so why. Now if you offered me a 1rst rounder. However ours is looking to be top 10 so that’s out of the question.
  8. Just drafted high in the 2nd round. I’d imagine they’d value him more than that.
  9. Bellows is already 22 turning 23 needs to clear waivers next year and doesn’t look good enough at the moment for the NHL. Maybe Bode Wilde who was also highly regarded is also struggling if you really want a drafted player back. I personally would rather roll the dice on draft pick.
  10. Would need protection. Probably not an issue as he’d probably not even be considered. I just think keep it clean and pick your own project in the draft. Pearson for a 2nd sounds great to me.
  11. Scoop up all the Minnesota Judd Brackett picks!
  12. I like the shade thrown at our top 6 just flat out calling our squad a full on bottom 12 lol! I’m more of a glass half full kind of guy myself and quite like our top 12!
  13. Placeholder for an upcoming Pearson for picks deal to the Islanders! One can hope.
  14. Don’t like retaining on a 2 million cap hit. We’ll have played 44 of the 56 games so the team acquiring Benn only needs like 430k of cap space. You can only retain so many contracts and I’m still holding out hope that if we’re out Benning moves Sutter, Pearson and potentially Edler if he’s up for a chance at a cup. Get better returns retaining on those deals where the receiving team might actually need help making the numbers work.
  15. While I’m not trying to take all blame away from Benning but if I recall correctly Aqualini didn’t want this team to go into a rebuild so Benning during his job interview told Aqualini that he could retool on the fly. So the retool I more so blame on management and Benning trying to make his employer happy.
  16. He’s a veteran that plays a different style. During the trade deadline teams pickup more depth help. Benn is a good depth dman add for any team. Also if Chariot is going to miss some time and they want to try and match what 6’3” 220lbs Ben Chariot brought to this team it won’t be with 5’9” 175lbs Victor Mete but maybe 6’2” 200lbs Jordie Benn who’s familiar with the team and doesn’t cost a lot might be able to replace some of Chariots game.
  17. I would do this for sure. I’m hoping that’s the case because for 6 mill you’d want a little more than what Myers can give you. So if he’s picked I do think you can replace some of what Myers gave you with a cheaper body. Heck maybe that could be Tryamkin.
  18. Benn tested free agency and he chose to come home to an interested Vancouver Canucks team. Nobody knows for sure whether or not they wanted him back or not. He was better in Montreal than his first year in Vancouver so I’d wager they were probably interested in re-signing him maybe not to the dollars or term that Vancouver did but he’s in the last year of his deal now.
  19. I know I might not be in the majority but unless I can attach more onto Motte and get a 1rst round pick back I’d rather just keep him. So I’m not a big fan of this proposal as you’ve also thrown in Edler with retention where I also feel like that alone should return a 2nd+ on its own with deadline prices. I think to keep it simple Benn to Montreal for a 3rd round pick.
  20. I think Fleury they’ve come to terms with what he is. A viable bottom pairing dman that can give you 15-17 solid minutes. I don’t think they’d be too upset if he was the guy taken in the expansion draft. Bean on the other hand is cheap and still has potential to be an offensive top 4 dman in this league. If the Canucks found themselves as sellers this year and got more picks I wouldn’t mind multiple picks like a 2nd and a 3rd for Bean. Management like Myers a lot more than fans so I’m not sure they actually want to add another dman to protect anyway. Right now we have Juolevi, Schmidt and Myers all of which I think management is high on so we’d be acquiring only to leave a guy exposed that they like.
  21. I was hoping the Canucks would target Bean and with the expansion draft coming up they still could. Carolina has Hamilton, Slavin, Pesce, Skjie, Bean and Fleury whom all need protection.
  22. Vancouver property dman that’s at least a bottom pairing/penalty killer that’s 6’7” 250, can skate and physically dominate opposing forwards. I mean I wouldn’t mind giving him a chance instead of re-signing or getting a comparable guy to Benn on the market. I almost don’t understand the people that question bringing him in. Why wouldn’t you? It’s not like he’ll be expensive.
  23. I always look when the upcoming games are so I can check in on the boys! Get sad because there’s such few games a week.
  24. Motte is young and cheap. He can be a part of this teams future. Not every 2nd round pick is Nils Hoglander. There’s lots of 2nd rounders that don’t even make it. I wouldn’t trade Motte for a mid to late 2nd rounder. If a team offered a 1rst that’s a different story. Trade the older guys like Sutter with rentention and Pearson but I’d hang onto Motte.
  25. I agree with this here. Retention on Edler or Sutter to maximize a return. Some of these guys have NTC’s but for a short stint on another team for a chance at the cup anything could happen.
