  1. Would be the dream scenario to be in a playoff position and get picks for vets to make room for the youth. Seems too good to be true so I’m not sure it actually happens lol
  2. It’s not like Edmonton has a bad team. Vancouver probably only offers 2 mill or less on a 1 year deal where Edmonton just got some flexibility with an injury to their best damn. Edmonton could offer about 3.25 on a 1 year deal. Does that sway your decision on maybe 1mill more in salary.
  3. Probably Hamonic because he wants to be playing in western Canada to be close to family. Calgary moved on so it’s really between Vancouver and Edmonton. I’m a little surprised Edmonton didn’t sign him when Klefbom was reported to miss the year.
  4. People see stuff like this and still question his production thats crazy to me. There’s only so much one person can do. Gave 4 great passes in a 30 second spand and not one guy could finish. This kid plays the right way both defensively and offensively to gain a coaches trust and play in a top 6.
  5. That Helenius is a big kid! He’s 6’6’’ 200 pounds at 18 years old!
  6. I know our drafting has been great for about 5 years but the probability of a 4th round pick carving out an NHL career has got to be about 15% or less. That’s not really giving up all that much in asset capital. While giving Benning the opportunity to use that money for one year deals on either Hamonic or Hoffman. One of those guys would be better for our team than another overpaid bottom 6 guy. I’d give a 4th rounder for that swap of players.
  7. Probably could have even gotten a pick back plus Sutter. Like a Sutter and 4th for a 7th.
  8. With the savings on Klefbom Edmonton now has the most cap space of the western Canada push for Hamonic. He’ll probably sign with Edmonton for 2 mill on a 1 year deal.
  9. I’m a little surprised Ottawa gave up a 2nd. Seems like a lot to give for Stepan these days.
  10. I was pretty high on him until he only did one pull up. The kid has skill let’s hope this contract motivates him.
  11. He’s too old for the wjc. He’d be one of their top 3 forwards if not the top guy if he was eligible.
  12. Hopefully Canucks prospect Arvid Costmar steps up and coaches the team placing himself on the top line while giving himself 20 minutes a game.
  13. Good for Florida sucks for him as I’m sure he turned down a much better offer earlier thinking he could get more and wound up with less.
  14. I think we all have that same player in mind that comes in every year not ready lol
  15. I find it hard seeing a team give up quality assets for Patches with good players like Hoffman and Granlund still on the market. In a time when money is tight for everyone the guys on the market should come cheaper as well.
  16. Percentages wise any draft should be considered a success if you get 2 NHL players from it. To go in without your 1rst or 2nd round picks being your best bets to find talent it would be extremely impressive if Vancouver’s scouts found 2-3 NHLers in this draft. I’m also liking this draft class a lot and Persson in the 7th is a big part of that!
  17. Guy was ranked as the 3rd best prospect for most of his draft year and slipped a little bit in the draft. Probably a combination of reasons being lack of production, Russian factor and being a winger. However this kid has all the tools in the toolbox to be an all situations top 6 winger! Those acting like he isn’t a top prospect will soon change their minds probably as early as the juniors tourney.
  18. That’s a good line for the KHL. Linden Vey isn’t an NHL player but since he’s been in the KHL he’s always top 3 on his team in points.
  19. Great game hopefully the coach keeps his minutes up! The way he plays he’s effective in so many different facets of the game. It’s mind boggling the days the coach decides to staple this kid to the bench.
  20. Wild got a home run of a pick fall to them at 9th overall. They were a team hunting for a top Center prospect and a top 5 fell to them. Rossi I’m not really looking at him too much as just the rest of their picks and if they turn out.
  21. Yeah I wish they had more picks so we could really gauge the quality of the draft. I’m just as curious in seeing how the Wild’s draft turns out.
  22. Add Vatanen to that list. Hamonic probably set his market to Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Guy really wants to play in western Canada. Unfortunately for him all these teams are hurting for cap space. I bet he signs a 1 year deal with one of these teams for around 1.5 to 2 mill.
  23. He’s undrafted through 2 eligible drafts I believe. Love the Bertuzzi name but the kid doesn’t seem to be trending towards the NHL.
  24. I’d take that chance on him for 1 year 1 mill. Good low risk high reward type deal for Ottawa.
  25. Guy was a great 6-7 dman. Actually kinda surprised an NHL team didn’t give him a contract.
