  1. I’m sure they have and it’s probably tomorrow morning before free agency starts. Benning has had interest in trading for Barrie before so I’m sure that’s his 2nd option.
  2. Come trade deadline they’ll probably get more for him than the 5th they gave up today.
  3. Can’t believe Ottawa would take on that much salary for a bottom pairing dman without getting a sweetener.
  4. The commitment this kid shows in the gym to prepare himself to be ready is like no other prospect we have. On top of that aside from Petey might be the most gifted with the puck on his stick. I think he’s going to look great in camp and wouldn’t be surprised if he earns a couple games. I think ultimately Benning will give him another year due to contract flexibility and once we shed a couple more contracts he’s on the team.
  5. I don’t think a team hurting for money is going to retain 2 million a year for 7 years for a player that won’t even be on the team. If your lucky give up some valued pieces I’m and maybe get 10-15%. That’s 0.825 to 1.2 mill a year which would bring OEL down to around 7-7.2 mill a year.
  6. I’m hoping he stands pat on the deal that he’s made. I heard updates that Vancouver’s sweetened the deal. From the sounds of it Arizona needs to get rid of him and our offer is the best and might be the only one on the table. That’s their fault for the contract they gave to OEL. I just keep thinking Benning feels like he needs OEL now and might give up too much to get him. Might be able to ditch one of our bad contracts like Baertschi with a pick and sign both Tanev and Barrie while keeping the dollars around the same with giving up less than it sounds for OEL and not have an 8.25 contract for 7 more years.
  7. Mikael Granlund is a lot more skilled than his brother. Had a down year last year so you might be getting a bargain of a deal. But before last season he had 3 50+ point seasons in a row with two of those in Minisoeta more than 65 points. Sure he’s not the biggest but if Toffoli leaves you might be able to fit in a guy at a cheaper rate with the same production and it’s not like you lose any grit there.
  8. Billy Constantinou is an overager somebody mentioned weeks back. RH dman skates well and put up some decent numbers. Wouldn’t mind him in the 5th.
  9. Jurmo was a great value pick in the 3rd round. Guy was a 2nd round talent. Now let’s get Cotton with our 4th!
  10. I’d say so. There’s a handful of guys from the 1rst round that don’t carve out a nice NHL career when you get down to these 20 picks the odds you find a guy that did what JT Miller did last season are very slim! Getting a point a game guy in JT for the 20th overall is a huge steal!
  11. Also OEL declined the 2nd request from management where they asked if he’d give more teams. To top it off OEL’s agent said once Friday hits they rescind the willingness to get traded and they won’t waive to go anywhere for the year. So Thursday is the day Arizona will probably pick which offer they like more Vancouver or Boston.
  12. Well you called this one! Passed over in his first draft eligible season and goes in the 1rst round 2nd time through. Very impressive that doesn’t happen very often.
  13. I wasn’t sure what the Flames were doing passing on Schneider but I liked Zary as a mid teens pick but trading back twice and getting two 3rds while getting Zary is a nice draft.
  14. I really like Zary but Benning would likely be looking dman and making a case for that player being scouted and seen as BPA in his eyes. Could very well have been the the Russian dman that NJD picked at 20.
  15. Let’s see who Calgary picks. I feel like they should have stayed pat and picked Schneider. I would have been very sad if we had our 20th and he went just before our pick.
  16. So to my understanding is they’re offering a 2nd rounder to a team to take on 50% of MAF contract while a third party team would receive MAF at 50% and give something back to Vegas in the deal? MAF at 50% probably brings them a better return than the team eating cap for no player and just a 2nd round pick.
  17. We need Boston to sign Krug to a nice long term deal so they take themselves out of the OEL conversation.
  18. There’s still lots of options. Maybe more possibilities for re-signing Tanev or Stetcher now that Dillon signed. Very unfortunate because I thought Dillon would have been a great fit for our team.
  19. I get Anderson has potential but Montreal adding the pick I like Domi more as a player. Wish we were in on him.
  20. Different circumstances. OEL gave a list of 2 teams and Arizona seems to want that contract gone. Loui would be going out because Arizona wants to shed the 8.25mill a year for OEL and it’s the only way to make it work cap wise and the dollars owed being much less than Eriksson’s cap hit actually helps a financially troubled organization. Vegas wants to shed Fleury with no cap coming back. If we are happy with Demko going forward and don’t like the term for Markstrom having MAF + a 1rst or Krebs is something I might think about. You might even get a 4th for dealing Markstroms rights.
  21. Now first I’ll say I’m not big on this route but I just saw on HFBoards a post that says Marc Andre Fleury was offered with a 2nd league wide with no takers. If they attached a 1rst or top prospect like Krebs or Glass would you bite on an offer like that and trade Markstroms rights before Friday? I’m impartial to the Markstrom or Demko path because I feel like we’re in good shape either way.
  22. Yeah I’d keep Tryamkin. Wouldn’t include him in any deals. Not because I feel he’s untouchable but only because his value is at its absolute lowest. What kind of lottery odds are you getting back by moving him. I’d rather role the dice on a 6’7” 250 pound dman that can skate well for his size and finish his checks.
