  1. Needed that big time! Hitting 2 posts and a crossbar in like the last like three minutes of regulation! Happy we pulled out this win!
  2. Jim Benning has expressed interest in Barrie at the draft and if rumours are true again at the trade deadline. Our gm is interested and I do think he signs Barrie this offseason. Barrie might want to come home and may even take less to get here much like Myers did.
  3. Free prospects are always a good idea! If we have contract room sign as many of them as we can.
  4. Tough call. Really depends how much Markstrom is asking for. I thought before the season started our goalies would be hand in hand where I’d be happy with either one going forward but Markstrom has been very impressive. If we could trade some bottom 6 guys out that are making too much that’d be ideal. However in the off-season nobody wants to trade for those guys when they can just sign comparable players in free agency. Benning has some work to do because you want to keep both Toffoli and Pearson. Those guys could command 5-5.5+ with term.
  5. Yes, yes and no. In a perfect world we could fit Tanev. Age and durability along with his last chance to cash in big money probably means we should stay away. We have to make some cap savings so Rafferty and Tryamkin replacing Stetcher and Tanev probably saves you around 4 million in cap space.
  6. Around 8 I would like Holtz or Perfetti. Drysdale the dman would be fantastic but he probably goes earlier.
  7. From 10-15 area I like Holloway, Sanderson, Gunler, and Zary. Might be time to look more into it.
  8. It sucks because I love the draft. The optimism of possibly drafting the best player. I usually only invest the time on the first round and some odd 2nd round ranked players I feel are late 1rst round quality and root for them to make it to our 2nd round. Now that we traded our 2nd rounder I guess I’ll just be pleasantly surprised as I don’t know how deep into the draft I want to invest.
  9. I agree with you that there are a few guys in that range I’d rather have over Madden but there’s more guys in those picks where I’d choose Madden. There’s bust potential with every prospect. With where those two 1rst round picks will be around 20-31 I’d rather take my chance on Madden. Kid has trended up every year. Feels like less risk to me. Also he won’t play his career at 150 pounds I’m sure he’ll fill out lol the kid is 20 years old. I’m sure I’m not the only one that would value Tyler Madden as high as a 1rst round pick. Clearly LA themselves did otherwise they wouldn’t have made this deal because they could have easily gotten a 1rst from another playoff team.
  10. I’d rather have Madden than a first round pick in the 15-31 range. I’m sure LA thinks the same. Bidding war probably would have taken the overall price tag up but Maddens value is definitely that of a 1rst round pick. https://www.tsn.ca/russian-players-dominate-top-spots-in-tsn-s-ranking-of-nhl-affiliated-prospects-1.1424251 Number 40 on Buttons list for already drafted prospects to start this year. With the year he’s had I’m sure he’s climbed higher.
  11. Well I mean one could argue the value of a late twenties pick like the ones Tampa gives up here but I’d rather have Tyler Madden over wherever those picks land. Not trying to say Tampa did well with their trades because they didn’t. Between the 3 guys we obviously got the better player this deadline but we did give up the better package in my eyes. Only difference is we got a top 6 player for market value and they overpaid for bottom 6 guys.
  12. Who was the guy that said New Jersey would be asking for Juolevi lol. I would have paid this price for Simmonds.
  13. When you are a playoff team with expectations losing players to free agency is the breaks. You can’t rebuild and compete at the same time.
  14. Okay this does change things my apologies. Didn’t know the sign and trade was the actual rumour. However they’re gonna want a 20 minute replacement and he’s gonna come by the name of Chris Tanev. I don’t know if Stecher + will cut it for them.
  15. I really don’t get these rumours. Toronto is a playoff team and while Barrie isn’t the greatest at defence he still plays around 20 minutes for them a night and is a 40 to 50 point dman. To get that away from a playoff team is gonna take an overpayment and Barrie as a whole and an upcoming ufa just isn’t worth it for a team like Vancouver.
  16. Both of Carolina’s goalies got injured in yesterday’s game. Jim wants to recoup picks in the upcoming draft. If he’s comfortable committing to Markstrom and this trade is only possible whether you are 100% certain this is Markstrom’s number 1 place he wants to be which I think it is. Carolina is a desperate team sitting in a wild card spot with two injured goalies. To Carolina Demko Baertschi To Vancouver 1rst round pick Patrik Puistola (3rd round pick last year. I was big on this guy come draft!) Nedeljkovic (backup goalie to Markstrom until Dipietro is ready) Now I really wanted to put Jake Bean their blue chip d prospect but he needs to be protected in the upcoming expansion draft just like Juolevi. Felt by doing so you could lose a blue chip guy in the draft.
  17. They hold up a little less in comparison. I wasn’t trying to discredit anything about Rathbone as a prospect lol. I feel like people are getting defensive. I just wanted to remind people that Rathbone decided to take another year before going to college. It seems like people forget that when pulling up stats. So his 2nd year should be stacked up to his peers 3rd years if you want to have a closer match to age and progression since being drafted.
  18. Trade Benn to save on his 2 mill next year and sign Bogosian.
  19. I wasn’t trying to take away anything he’s done and the excitement should be there with Rathbone because he’s a great prospect. Just wanted to point out that Rathbones 2nd year should be compared to his peers 3rd years. By doing that it has them closer in age by him waiting another year to go to college.
  20. While he is in his 2nd year technically he should be in his 3rd year. He delayed going to college to remain close to his family. It’s just while he’s in his 2nd year like the players you’ve mentioned he’s a year older and in some cases 2 years older than some of the players.
  21. I think the speculation is it should be similar to Hutton’s. So the idea is at the moment he’s most likely gone after this year. As there’s bigger needs to allocate our money towards than a 3.5 mill bottom pairing dman. We got Rafferty or Juolevi that could fill that role next year.
  22. Please not Juolevi! Injuries stunted his development but there’s still hope for him in becoming a top 4 dman in the NHL!
