  1. I’m scared too! With Gaudette’s and Juolevi’s names floating around and the only rumoured player to us is a very washed up Wayne Simmonds!
  2. Sutter and Benn were long shots and more of a I sure hope Benning would pull the trigger if there was positive value to be had. However Stecher for sure has value right now! Don’t have to sign his QO if you don’t like the price but he’s at the very least a bottom pairing guy which seems to be getting 2nd round picks.
  3. Tanev is too important but I’m hoping Benning can recoup some of these picks by maybe trading a Brendan Sutter and Jordie Benn or Troy Stecher. Justin Bailey and MacEwen can play on the 4th line and one of Chatfield, Brisebois or Sautner could fill in as the 6-7 dman on this team with the slim chance of maybe getting Tryamkin back.
  4. I was just thinking a trade like this could be good for us as it would clear up space for next year. Sutter would be an investment. Warm body to eat up a lot of hard minutes for this year and half of next year. Sutter would be worth more at next years deadline than Simmonds is right now.
  5. While Sutter is nice in the bottom 6 he just makes way too much to be a 4th line guy. Clearing his cap could go a long way as to recouping a much more needed asset. If Benning can find positive value on Sutter with no cap coming back on next years team I’d hope he makes the deal. Teams won’t trade value for Sutter in the summer as they’ll just try and keep their assets and acquire a guy in free agency instead.
  6. Same thing you can say with all these guys mentioned. Which is why I’m pro draft who you think the best player available is. If all guys prove to be top 6 then flip 1 or 2 in a package for something you need.
  7. Today’s NHL is a skilled mans game. There are a lot of great small guys in this league. I for one am okay with this trade I’m just trying to get the point across that centres can also play wing lol. Or that just because people think Podz and Hogs are slated ahead no prospect is a sure thing. Madden very well could become the best player of the 3. This is what you get with great drafting we’re hitting on 3rd rounders and flipping them for playoff pieces.
  8. My whole thing is people saying he’s a Center and only a Center. I get you gotta give to get and am excited for Toffoli and this trade will help. There was a time when the Philadelphia Flyers had like 7 listed Center’s in their top 9 forwards. It’s almost a nice thing to have as you got more than one forward out there that can take draws.
  9. People that can’t comprehend that a Center can also play wing is hilarious. The comments of Madden likely not being able to beat Horvat or Gaudette just don’t understand hockey. You guys do understand that JT Miller is a Center right? He hasn’t passed Pettersson or Horvat as a top 6 Center he takes draws but plays on Pettersson’s wing.
  10. It sucks about the timing but we are a playoff team and if you can’t re-sign these guys the likelihood is losing them for nothing. Can’t rebuild and make the playoffs at the same time.
  11. Hilarious proposal of decent scraps for the best player in the league. This just in Vancouver put in a bid. Baertschi Lind Lockwood Woo Dipietro 2020 or 2021 1rst
  12. Tanev is a free agent this summer. No recouping picks for him as the front office wants to make the playoffs. Unless they deal his rights in the summer just before free agency hits which will get you like a 5th round pick maybe but he’s probably going for nothing. The time to trade Tanev has long passed through the many years of rebuilding.
  13. Sell a bottom 6 guy and buy low on a top 6 guy like Mikael Granlund from Nashville.
  14. Sutter is healthy and just had a 3 point night! Sutter for Samuel Bolduc and a 3rd round pick. Bolduc was drafted in the 2nd round last year.
  15. This is what I want as well. Love the idea of Benning trading a couple guys out to make room for some of the youth that have been having great seasons. Get some draft picks while promoting within and seeing what we got. Mac can at the very least play in the bottom 6 on this team.
  16. If Seattle is willing to make as many backdoor deals as Vegas did. I would have come out of that expansion draft more on the villain side if that was me. Would have taken Dumba for sure from Minny. There was a few more I wouldn’t have been so kind can’t really remember right now.
  17. I’m cool either way but I’d like to get good value in a trade for either one of our guys. It’s not like Markstrom is old and has been relatively healthy. Don’t want to lose good assets for nothing. It’s just the closer you get to that expansion the less value you’re gonna get
  18. Why would it? The assumption is that Markstrom would have an extension already. You don’t want to have both goalies come expansion draft as one surely gets taken. The longer you hold onto both the less value you’ll get as more teams will look to trade their good backups instead of losing them for nothing. If Demko can return a 1rst rounder and Markstrom is signed I’d have no issue with trading him at the draft.
  19. Yeah same for me. It sucks potentially not having a first round pick. I love the draft but having your first pick around 50 takes a lot of the excitement out of it. Watch Benning trade for a 1rst round pick at the draft and nobody has any input because we’ve all been tuned out thinking we weren’t picking that high.
  20. I’d pass on Simmonds. Here’s hoping if the rumours are true somebody out bids us. Guys passed his prime and declining. I’d rather just give MacEwen minutes until Ferland is good to go and keep all our youth, picks and cap space.
  21. Now it’s just if Benning can cycle those guys out and bring these guys up. I’m thinking he stays pat and we just see more guys walk in the off-season unfortunately.
  22. Exactly this. The amount of posters that wanted to trade Virtanen for anything. I recall people saying just sell him for a 2nd round pick and get something. The same people proposing the same thing for Juolevi. The math tells you on average 30% of 2nd round picks have an NHL career. Even less if you look for top 6 or top 4 contributors. I’ve always been prepared to hold onto these guys and hope they turn the corner because you can see good traits in their games. I honesty believe Juolevi has been hindered in development due to injuries. That will be his biggest hurdle but he will be a top 4 dman in the NHL.
  23. I’m afraid the time to trade Tanev has long passed. We kept him through our rebuild and now we’re in a position to make the playoffs. Management wants that for our young guys. They’d much rather keep Tanev as he helps our team more than Kapenen would. Even if it means keeping Tanev for this year and us losing him as an FA.
