  1. Can’t argue math! Appreciate the number crunching it’s nice to see what could be in a different scenario. Also there’s no variable we could add with more TOI probably means you have better linemates.
  2. Starting to seem shorter than we thought lol. At the end of the day Podz still comes in around or even before his peers.
  3. Not too big on the price tag. I really like Madden! I think that’s why I like targeting a guy like Mikael Granlund out of Nashville. Probably cheaper to acquire and give you the same production.
  4. It’s the idea of buying low on a guy. It hasn’t worked for him in Nashville. He was on a 60 point pace just last year until he got traded to Nashville and struggled a bit. He still finished with 54 points last year and surpassed the 60 point mark both seasons before that. At 27 years old one could think he’s got more to give and could become one of the cheaper targets but give you the best bang for your buck at this deadline.
  5. He’d be a great buy low player! Might even be able to parlay his poor first half stats into a cheap extension If he plays well down the stretch. I still think he’s got 60 point seasons left if he can find himself in a top 6 role on a better team.
  6. JT Miller for sure! I thought we were getting a 50 point 2nd line winger that we’d put on the 1rst line but wouldn’t really belong on a 1rst line. I was wrong on this one. Miller looks fantastic and his production is more than I anticipated.
  7. Trust in your scouts to get you the best player available at your spot. Don’t draft for position and take a lesser talent. By the time a 2nd round pick makes it needs may have changed. Get the best player and if you really need a player trade for it with all the assets your scouts have found.
  8. Boucher is too small and doesn’t play a bottom 6 style of hockey. Justin Bailey is 6’4” 215 pounds. He likely was playing on the 4th line when he got those point totals. Which aren’t gonna be much different or if at all to anybody playing on our 4th line now. If there’s an opportunity to move out some bottom 6 guys we should collect some picks and promote guys like MacEwen and Bailey.
  9. His contract year he had 63 points in 82 games which put him 2nd on Boston for points that year. I think everybody or almost everybody was pretty excited about the signing. Like a lot of luring guys over the term was obviously not what anybody wanted but we thought we’d get 3 to 4 years of 50+ point top 6 production. The guy also came with a history with the twins and it finally felt like they spent money to bring somebody in just for their line.
  10. This is what I want them to do. Stetcher anyway not Tanev. The boat on trading Tanev I feel has passed with so much on this team to make the playoffs now. Stetchers 13 minute 3rd pairing numbers can be replaced by the youth and or Benn. Cycle out some of the guys that won’t be here collecting picks along the way. Would love to see them also trade Sutter and Leivo while bringing up MacEwan as the 13th forward full time.
  11. I’m down for whatever playoffs or retooling at the deadline I just hope we’re comfortably in or out of it so that we don’t stand pat and still miss the playoffs missing out on some decent trades.
  12. I do think in two years time at 36 he won’t be as effective as he is now. Whether that be from injuries slowing him down or whatever. Somebody like Werenski like what the poster above mentioned makes a lot more sense. In this proposal though that’s just way too much to give up for somebody that old.
  13. You’re mortgaging a lot of future on somebody that’s already 34 years old. Guys like Seth Jones and Dougie Hamilton got moved finding a deal like this is much more what the Canucks should be looking for. We’re by no means a Stanley Cup team even with Weber and the deduction of Boeser doesn’t help. Now your praying Weber can hold up and be productive at 35 and 36.
  14. That Weber contract is gonna get really bad in the next couple years. Financially crippling to the point where I’d pass. 8 mill a year until he’s 41 years old. Injuries will happen more frequently and he’ll slow down.
  15. I like Tryamkin and also think he could be a very dependable top 4 guy in the NHL if he does come back. I just don’t get how a 6’7” smooth skating for his size while logging KHL time doesn’t get a late round pick in his draft year over guys like Mike Williamson and Miles Liberate. I understand that wasn’t Benning and his crew but for me personally I feel like the odds of hitting on a 7th rounder I’d have taken that gamble then.
  16. Tryamkin was an alright pick however Brayden Point was BPA and I was screaming for that pick in the third round.
  17. Is Toronto a realistic option for Andre Drummond? If so what would it take via trade to make it happen?
  18. The kid is having a very good year. I’m starting to thinking Benning and Brackett are gonna have to draft a Northeastern commit every draft!
  19. I was kind of hoping he’d still sell some spare parts like Sutter, Leivo and maybe even Stetcher. Two of those guys are likely to walk this offseason and we’ve already adapted with them out of the lineup anyway. Having MacEwan up with the team works for me. Cycle older guys out and make room for some of the kids while collecting picks in the process.
  20. Him being in his third tourney and probably one of the older guys on the team I thought because of this he’d be leaned upon heavier in the TOI. Haven’t watched any Finland games unfortunately. How has he looked?
  21. In a weird way the hockey gods did help us out that year by putting us in a position to take Pettersson. Watching the mic’d up for that draft year Benning says “if the top 3 go like we think” and then talks of trading down and points out Pettersson.
  22. A couple really good players that fell into the 3rd round which made me sad we added our 3rd in the deal for Miller but hey that trade has worked out well. Puistola and Dorofeyev being the guys I really wanted!
  23. Projected as a 1rst rounder. I never really looked into him until the pick because I never thought he’d fall to 40. Hoglander being 5’9” is the only reason he fell to 40 if he was 2” taller come draft day he would have been a 1rst round pick.
  24. So writing off a highly touted 18 year old power forward as a 4th liner already.
  25. It’s not like the trade only went through because we had our 3rd rounder for that draft. In the hypothetical scenario that trade still goes through I’m sure but with a future 3rd rounder. Pod has looked good don’t get me wrong. He does everything really well and plays a great style of hockey which will translate. Most of the discouragement comes from the KHL and lack of TOI when playing in that league. Bouncing around a lot through 3 different leagues never really getting to build chemistry with line mates could be the main reason we’re not seeing the offensive numbers progress to what you’d like to see from a top 10 pick.
