  1. It’s the 3rd overall pick. Those don’t get moved because the ceiling on those players are so high. They don’t want a 30 year old JT Miller or a handful of okay pieces. If you’re asking about the 3rd overall they’re asking for Pettersson or Hughes. I can’t see a world where Columbus wants a handful of good pieces for 1 amazing piece. I mean if we had 3rd overall would you trade it for a similar package I wouldn’t.
  2. I did propose Beauvillier and 11th to Detroit for 17th Rasmussen and a 2nd rounder. Saves 2.6 mill on the cap and gets you a decent 3rd line center. Detroit doesn’t really have any decent 3rd line center options but you could maybe just straight cap space savings and find a Center in free agency. Beauvillier and 11th for 19th and 2 2nd round picks.
  3. Boeser ppg would have been 3rd on the Calgary Flames. Backlund will be 35 and in the last year of his deal. Along with Toffoli, Dube and Lindholm all going into their final years before decisions get made. There’s definitely a need for a guy like Boeser maybe not him persay with his cap hit but the Flames need help. Also I like Weegar but that tweet was before the season started. His year was good but how can he be a legit top pairing dman if he wasn’t even on the top pair. Calgary very long term commitments to Huberdeau, Kadri and Weegar and might want out of one. Weegar’s might be the only one they can. Not saying he has negative value but the length of the contract should lessen the return as he’s locked up for another 8 years until he’s 37 years old.
  4. Signed to a very long contract that should age poorly. Garland isn’t enough salary going out I’d do a Boeser for Weegar base of a trade but I wouldn’t give our 1rst.
  5. The Canucks being over the cap maybe a trade down might make sense. Detroit has a plethora of picks thanks to us and we already have a working relationship. What about 11th and Beauvillier for Rasmussen 17th and a 2nd round pick. This saves us 2.46 million in cap space gets a a big 3rd line center that can win faceoffs and the 17th probably still gets you Willander.
  6. I wouldn’t say we won huge yet. Hronek as of right now is a 2nd pairing with potential to be a 1rst pairing dman. He does have concussion issues and has never surpassed 38 points. Also we don’t know what he wants for his next contract. Maybe with being a RHD and seeing those guys getting overpaid throughout the league his agent is looking at 6.75+ mill a year. Everything combined Yzerman decided to sell when a team was crazy enough to buy him in his 3rd concussion before his value got worse. In a league where it’s hard to move straight salary Yzerman was able to trade an injury prone 2nd pairing 30+ point dman for a 1rst rounder (17th overall) and our 2023 2nd round draft pick in a really strong draft year. I’m not trying to trash Hronek but to say anybody won this deal yet you need to see the variables like Hroneks health and next contract. We took a lot of risk because he’s no slam dunk otherwise Detroit would have never moved him.
  7. lol that team isn’t asking for a 30 year old JT Miller. They’re only moving that pick for Pettersson or Hughes. How bad do you want that pick? There’s a reason top 3 picks don’t get moved the ask will be much more than you want and right now I’d definitely do 11th and Miller which means it’s probably not enough. Then teams definitely don’t want a bunch of quarters for a dollar. They’re not going to want 4-5 pieces. They want Pettersson and I don’t want Carlsson that bad.
  8. Thread bump gotta think the Stars wish they used this pick on somebody that could actually help them in the playoffs this year. I wouldn’t be so invested in the player if so many people on this board wanted this guy as part of a return in a JT Miller trade. Still happy we didn’t make that trade Lundkvist is a small bottom pairing RHD that is average at providing offence and subpar on playing defence. Chytil had a better year but he’s a Center that doesn’t win faceoffs will max out at a 40-50 point winger which we’re trying to move 2 of those right now.
  9. It was just terrible timing that all those contracts were coming to an end and the Canucks were in a random playoff spot. If we weren’t in a playoff spot we don’t buy Taffoli and likely trade Markstrom and Tanev for good returns. That’s the Canuck luck lol
  10. Are people sleeping on this prospect? Incredible offensive skills, big frame and right handed dman. Haven’t really seen much posted about him. It’s always impressive to see a dman leading his team in points. If he had better players on his team he’d likely have an extra 10-15 points this season.
  11. Once his bonus is payed out you feel like he should be easy to move. For a non playoff team he could be a smart investment. Costs 6 mill on the cap but only owed 1 million so you could essentially pay a 5th rounder or later to get him then retain and flip at the deadline for a 2nd.
  12. Maybe Johnny Hockey they feel the pressure to compete and you could do something around Miller and 11th overall for the 3rd overall but with Millers age they might not even want to do that deal. Also dealing Miller would signify a retool which might make Pettersson and Hughes unhappy and potentially asking for trades.
  13. If it were that easy people would be moving up all the time.
  14. JT Miller is better and can also play center which we need.
  15. I’d love it if we weren’t in salary cap trouble. If we’re trading we need to lose salary in trades.
  16. They give the better forward and dman where do I sign?
  17. Yeah I’d rather Benson or Moore over ASP. Is Moore going to stick as a Center or is he destined to be a winger at the next level?
  18. I think if he truly has elite first pairing D skills he’d be picked before 11th. Especially with being a RHD.
  19. Dvorak not worth his cap hit. Honestly though I would just not do that 2nd deal. Do the NYR deal and just re-sign Laff to a 2-3 year deal worth about 2-2.25 mill a year.
  20. Lol all of it so bad! Time Machine and draft Guenther and be out from all the salary cap dumps.
  21. ASP might be there but Reinbacher with his size I’d bet he goes top 10. People overvalue centers and dmen at the top of the draft. Wingers slide there’s a chance that ASP will go top 10 as well and I can see Benson, Barlow and the other wingers slide.
  22. I wonder if trading back 4 or 5 spots to get a 2nd round pick (sadly just to use via trade to get somebody to take salary) is a thought by management. If they really want to take a dman like Wallinder or the other guys at the back half of the 1rst round.
  23. I think they gotta make sure he’s productive because he’s skilled in that league and not just overpowering like Virtanen. Top of the 1rst round you have to draft skilled players because those guys are harder to find! I’ll admit I haven’t watched Barlow but the write up sounds like Virtanen. Also the player comps might be a bit wild they have Axel Sandin-Pellikka a 5’11” and 175 pound dman player comps as Bouwmeester, Pietrangelo and Severson all 6’2” + and 200+ pound dmen.
