  1. Ummmmm no. The SEL is superior to the AHL, and the KHL is like a casual Rec league.
  2. He's actually NOT weak along he boards, and as for his "mediocre" WJC, he was one of the youngest players on a stacked team, and he was also playing through an injury.
  3. Get ready to be annoyed. It's gonna happen. I myself want Glass, but Im calling Pettersson. And if he fills out he has the potential to be the best player in the draft. Uber talented, and can play in his own end as well.
  4. My thought's exactly. Vilardi & Mittlestadt at 3/4, but if they take a Dman with a Top 5 pick, I'm praying they take Makar and not Liljigren.
  5. If the Canucks get the 5th pk , and Vilardi & Mittlestadt have already been taken, I'd take Makar or Glass over Liljigren.
  6. I know it won't happen, but he should go to Utica. He can get into meaningful games w/ a team playing great hockey right now, & developing chemistry w\ guys like Demko and Virtanen. They should be keeping him away from the losing right now w/ the big club. But he obviously wants 1st yr salary/bonus over ATO money. . But Kunin (MIN) and Thompson (STL) have recently signed their ELC but agreed to ATOs w/ their AHL teams for the rest of the season, & Werenski had great success with going that route last season. I realy do wanna see the kid suit up for the Canucks, but I wanna see him make his debut next yr. The only drawback of him going to Utica would be him stepping on someone else's toes by taking a roster spot from a guy who has been helping Utica climb back into the playoff picture. New kid that just gets to step in and take a spot might rub some people the wrong way. It's the Canucks fault if the burning of that 1st yr of his ELC comes back to haunt them cap-wise down the road, but hey, in a terrible year, making our best prospect happy by getting rich quickly, and us as fans getting to finally see Boeser in Canuck blue and white is pretty exciting.
  7. Good. To say that after drafting an absolute stud on D is ludicrous.
  8. Jesus,..I wasn't 'predicting' anything. Choosing not to sign is an option for an NCAA player after 2yrs, and it's been done before, in fact very recently with Reilly on the CBJ. Just saying I hope it doesn't happen with Brock, not that I think or predict it will happen. From stories I saw about him after the draft, I like what I see with regards to his character. But to tell you the truth, just from what Ryan Kancer did to the Canucks, I'm now finding it harder to trust American players with regards to where their heart lies.
  9. Nice recent article about Brock's play so far. His shot is off the charts, Brett Hull-like, good,...and really happy to hear his all-around game (200ft) is prominently solid, as a freshman! The only thing I worry about is him becoming homesick and pulling a Reilly (CBJ) and getting an agent to play hardball with the Canucks so he can sign with the Wild or something like that. It's the scary drawback of drafting US College players. Just hope the kid is one that respects the game enough to fully commit to the team that showed enough faith to make him a 1st rd pick. Anyway, enjoy... http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/3861378-und-hockey-recruitment-brock-boeser
  10. So before I debunk this poster's myths about the Canucks deepest prospect cupboard in years if not decades, I have to ask..., is this ''TOMapleLaughs'' guy for real?? OK, onto this person's myths about the prospects. McCann..SAME size as hundreds of NHL stars, past and present. Joe Sakic anyone? And no, he is NOT currently hurting. Do your homework! Demko...this hip surgery, that is becoming more and more frequent with goalies and also didn't seem to hurt Lack last yr, is ''increasing his bust potential''?? My good God, let the kid develop a few yrs past his draft year before using the ''bust'' word please. He had a great year last yr, a year after his equally great year that led him to be the top rated goalie in last Jr's draft. Cassels...what is his upside??? You're kidding, right?! Did you watch that little hockey tournament called the Memorial Cup last month?? And yes, he's nursing an injury,...the same one that he ''nursed'' the entire 2nd half of his OHL season as well as his entire Mem Cup tourney. He's a highly skilled 2 way Centre, with direct NHL bloodlines, who quarterbacks the PP on the halfwall, kills penalties, and also shadows the other team's best players night in and night out. And you're asking what his upside is??? Smh. Shinkaruk...''how long will he stew in the AHL?'' He's played ONE YEAR in the AHL!! Give the kid a break! And if you'd pay attention to what Utica was doing, you'd know that Hunter finished really strong, once he started to see what it took to be successful at the pro level, playing vs men earning pay cheques. As for top 6 potential..maybe, maybe not..has the skill and speed, just needs a year, maybe two, to develop, not 'stew' in the AHL. Boesser. He's committed to college for as long as as it takes him and the Canucks to think that he's ready to make the jump to pro. Simple as that,...so don't let your paranoia worry you too much. Brisebois... ''Has bust written all over him.'' What makes you think this???! Was it the fact that he was rated in the top 45 by both the CS, Bob McKenzie, and many other draft rankings??? Or maybe because of his appearance on the Cherry/Orr CHL TOP PROSPECTS game??? Or maybe because of the fact that he's a smooth skating 6'3 PMD who at the age of 17 was voted Captain of his team by his freaking teammates who were all older than him???? Yeah, he was on a very bad team, so his numbers don't look great on paper, but saying he has ''bust written all over him'' is just downright ludicrous. And saying that his upside is the fact he has the same last name as ex NHL'er Patrice is equally dumb. Zhukenov.. ''looks like a 12 year old'' ''how long til he's a man, let alone NHL ready''? So according to you, Mid round picks who look like they're 12 never make the jump to the NHL. Ummm, Johnny Hockey's on Line 1 for you. Tryamkin... ''Is he ever going to come over from Russia?'' He stated that was his plan...he's under contract for one more yr. Will he be anything more than depth/AHL? We'll see,..WHEN HE COMES OVER FROM RUSSIA!! And yes, he's a 3rd pairing dman, in a Pro League, and he's only 20!! And he did it as a 19 yr old last year too!! Sounds like a pretty decent prospect to me! Subban.. ''Hasn't gained any noticeable strength since we drafted him'' . If you followed anything to do with Canuck prospects on Twitter, you would've NOTICED the exact opposite. And to say he couldn't make it as an NHL dman because of what you see in him now, at his size,,...wow any hockey fan knows that there is now a large list of undersized dmen with his skillset and package. And if P.K. thinks Jordan's the best of the 3 brothers, wow, that's getting me pretty pumped! Guance...Yes,...he's now a Fwd..and in case you missed it, at the pro level, he's become a better player at FWD! Hutton...on what planet were you on when he was being talked about as a FWD???! A ''failed experiment''???! He JUST signed his 1st pro deal and JUST got his feet wet with a 1 game stint in Utica! Jensen...you're actually RIGHT on Jensen!!! The Canucks don't like him! It's cause his motivation to actually WORK to be a PRO is null and void. Grenier... yeah, his clock is ticking, but he impressed the brass enough to get a 2 way deal and to keep improving...and so he's gonna get a good look at camp. If he doesn't pan out, (hope he does), but we shouldn't be too surprised or disappointed. Labatte...will he turn into anything? In the NHL? Like most, probably not. Corrado...is he a legit NHL'er? This is the year we'll see. McNally...''Why couldn't we keep him?'' Because he's a cheater!! Which, at no fault of the Canucks, made him a free agent. So blame him! And lastly, why did we draft Schroeder? Go enroll in Sports Law at UVic and ask Gillis.
