  1. Fans are so upset in Canuck land. This is still a team that is in the rebuild process. The bubble team from last year gave an unrealistic expectation. Fans need to relax. I think the team will get their mojo back. These games against Calgary will see a better effort.
  2. We may need a big shake up. Miller and Gaudette for Johansen and a second round pick.
  3. Explanation for this years results thus far. 1) Management decided that they couldn't afford to resign or just see a different path moving forward. A couple of those players were part of the teams leadership group. Players started the year a bit disgruntled. Or just surprised about the direction. 2) Miller missed the first three games and the top line has started real slow. 3) Several players are new to the system. Takes time to gel. 4) The schedule has made it impossible to practice and has left the team tired. 5) The covid-19 restrictions makes it really hard for a team to work in new players and create chemistry. 6) The players realize their coach and GM are without contracts and may not be here next year.
  4. Jim already has someone breathing down his throat.
  5. Green on 1040. " well , does that mean that I won't have to answer stupid questions from Paterson?"
  6. I think we all have the feeling that both Jim and the coaching are lame ducks right now. I also think that the team feels the same way. Anyone who sits with UFA status at year end may also be gone. Ownership may have decided that this is the perfect year for a reset. Lock down the young core and had it off to new management. Hopefully they allow Jim to accumulate a few assets and keep their picks.
  7. Ok, wait, I just realized something that gave me a warm feeling through my entire body. I just realized that Paterson worked for 1040. There is definitely some voices and personalities that will be missed. Unless they get picked up by 650.
  8. Why did Benning resign him for two more years?
  9. If I was some of the broadcasters on 650 I would be worried about my job. A lot of talent just hit the market. 650 has an opportunity to upgrade their staff.
  10. Some of the better people will get picked up. I guess there is only enough advertising cash for one channel. 1040 was all we had for quit a while.
  11. You can't go by any of the teams stats right now. You certainly can't judge young players that may be put in circumstances that does not suit their skills. This defense needs work. A lot of work. The whole team is in flux this year. They lost a big chunk of their leadership group. It is less about talent and more about leadership. On top of that this is a really unusual year and hard to judge. There is more than one team that are struggling. Odd high scores. Look at the goal tending numbers. Burke to Penguins. Interesting
  12. Tryamkin wasn't signed this year because the Canucks had no money and the expansion draft. I think they will sign him for next season. But who really knows.
  13. I don't think they started the rebuild more than a few years back. Jims first two years the twins were still hear. They were trying to win for at least the first three years of his tenor.
  14. I don't think that fans should be upset with a step back this year. It is normal for a rebuilding team to take a step back. We are a few years away. Lets get another high pick.
  15. I wondered about Motte. He was hurting in that last game. Finished the game but labored.
  16. Wow! Do you really want to use Eric Karlsson's contract as a good example of how to build a solid defense? That contract is a prime example of what you should never ever do. That will screw them for the next 7 years. What I am trying to get across is that teams need to set a salary structure. So much for your forwards, so much for defense and the rest for goal tending. If you dump 30 mil on your D then something else has to suffer. Successful teams do this really well. Vegas wanted to sign Pietrangelo so they moved Schmidt out to make room. They stayed with in a structure. They could do that because they have Hague and Holden coming up through the system. In todays cap world you cannot build a winner through the UFA market. You always pay a bit of a premium and in Jim's case you end up giving out to much term. UFA's have their place in team construction. It needs to be limited. Plus done for the right reason. The last piece that helps you go for the cup. All in at that point. OJ has not shown much yet. He has issues with gap control and mobility. I thought Chatfield has looked better defensively. Neither are really trusted by the coaching staff. Time will tell. Remember when Tanev came in? There was no question that he was going to be a solid NHL player. Who is our youthful Tanev?
  17. LOL That is your list for competent D men that Benning has brought in? You just reinforced my argument. 6 mil for Edler is a home town discount? The best defensive teams in the NHL don't spend more than 25 mil. You do the math.
