  1. Dickinson has definitely been a disappointment. For our penalty kill to get back on track, he needs to wake up.
  2. I look at Miller as a leader of this team. Would not take trading him lightly.
  3. I guess we should hold onto him until the trade deadline, and then see what we can get for him. Trading him now would send the wrong message to the team.
  4. I don't know why people want to trade our only point per game player...
  5. Firing Benning is a desperate move though. That's what I'm saying. Green, Baumgartner, and King can F off.
  6. It's all just semantics in the end. I understand what you're saying, but I disagree that Benning should be let go in the middle of the season. Before this season almost everyone was optimistic that this was our best team assembled since 2011. On paper, it is. Benning deserves to see what this roster can do with a different coaching staff. However, since he is responsible for resigning Green, I understand he might not get the convenience to see it through.
  7. I don't think Benning would trade another 1st round pick, as some people are suggesting. However, he may have sealed his fate when he resigned Green. He has tied himself to the coach, and as a consequence may be let go at the same time. I would like for Benning to see what this roster can do with a different coaching staff. Motte is back, which should help our penalty kill a bit. But so far, the problem is our stale and predictable systems.
  8. Please just fire Green and find a coaching staff that can fix the special teams.
  9. Your solution to fixing our defense is trading Hughes?
  10. I'll let you in on a secret: "Rebuilding" is mostly a fan term.
  11. It's a big mistake to fire a GM in the middle of the season. It almost never works out. Fire Green for now and re-evaluate in the offseason.
  12. I have the most faith in Bylsma in terms of getting his team to perform in the playoffs. However, I am really curious and intrigued with what Boudreau would do with Hughes. He turned Green into one of the best offensive defensemen in recent memory. How much would he get out of Hughes?
  13. We weren't allowed to rebuild in the beginning because Linden and ownership wanted to do right by the Sedins. Two years after they retired we made it to the playoffs out of the bubble. Then we underperformed in a weird COVID-shortened season where we had by far the worst schedule in the league. Now we're underperforming again, but I have faith we will turn it around--without Green. Benning was clear in his intent to sign veterans so our young guys have leadership and can learn how to win. When we beat the defending champs in the bubble, it looked like his plan was working. The pandemic has really affected our team negatively, particularly our young players. That is out of Benning's control. Are you saying that trading our 1st for Miller was a bad move? I'd do that again any day. How bout trading our 1st with Loui, Beagle, and Roussel for OEL and Garland? The jury is still out on Ekman-Larsson, but Garland looks like a gem.
  14. I was pretty big on Lind and Gadjovich before we lost both of them. Lockwood probably should be playing for us right now. I think Rathbone will be a solid NHLer when he develops. Woo is a pretty underrated prospect, and I'm excited about the chemistry he has with Rathbone. I had faith in Juolevi before we traded him, and kind of wish we never did; but if Juulsen gets back on track he could be a solid bottom pairing guy--he was actually pacing pretty well before his eye injury. People are upset we traded Jonathan Dahlen--myself included--but Linus Karlsson is playing pretty well in the SHL. Tryamkin would be amazing for us if he didn't opt for the KHL. As you can see, Benning has made some questionable trades, but a lot of things were out of his control. We made out from both expansion drafts pretty well considering. I'm not necessarily against firing Benning in the offseason--just not mid-season.
  15. We might need a change in management after the season--that's fair--but Benning should not be canned in the middle of it. See what this roster can do with new coaching and reevaluate in the offseason.
  16. Although I could see Benning choose Julien to be his coach cause of their history, I would way rather us get Bylsma.
  17. We might have to change management in the offseason, but Green needs to go now.
  18. Faceoffs is the main sticking point when it comes to Dickinson, but I expected him to be better on our penalty kill.
  19. I'm tired of people characterizing Benning's tenure as "8 years of failure." We were a rebuilding team for much of that time, and he drafted really well. We have him to thank for Demko, Boeser, Pettersson, and Hughes; plus Podkolzin and Klimovich look like players. He has also made some savvy trades like the one for JT Miller. This team on paper is the best we've had since 2011. Our poor start is not on the GM, it's on the coach.
  20. I think Benning has earned the opportunity to see what his roster would do with another, more competent, coaching staff. Trading Player Name, Beagle, and Roussel for OEL and Garland was a stroke of genius, and Hoglander is proving to be yet another steal in the draft. A lot of our guys are underperforming, but that is on the coach, not the GM. Green has shown an unwillingness to change his system, and always juggles the lines in a way that makes our players discombobulated. Pettersson wants to be on a team that is winning; we do that by getting him and the rest of the team on track with better coaching.
  21. We scored 4 goals. I don't think we played that poorly. Still sucks we gave up 7 for the second straight game. Our penalty kill is pathetic.
