[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Vegas Golden Knights | Nov. 13, 2021

That was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. -
I don't think Benning should be fired. Green on the other hand...

[Proposal] Boeser + Rathbone for Dumba
Nave replied to Vinny in Vancouver's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Oh God, not this again... -
Gibson won them the game. Absolutely stoned us several times in overtime. Also had some great saves in regulation. We showed a lot of heart coming back to tie the game. We dominated at times, and probably deserved the W.

John Gibson stoned us several times in overtime. And they ignored the clear trip on Pettersson in the corner. EDIT: Not to mention too many men.

What a clutch goal by Pettersson.

YES!!

Bruuuutal call...

Honestly, probably Juolevi. Although I am still pulling for him, leading up to the draft I wanted Tkachuk--and it looks like that would have been the right move. I still think that if the sexual assault case didn't happen, Virtanen would have turned into a player for us. Looks like he's doing really well in the KHL.

[PGT] Nashville Predators at Vancouver Canucks | Nov. 05, 2021

I'm tired of losing cause of our special teams. -
This is more of a gamble for Vegas, but I guess they like high stakes. If Eichel gets back to being a point per game player, they will have solved their 1st line center issue. However, there's no guarantee he'll be the player he once was, with the type of injury he has, and the new surgery that has not been proven to work for professional athletes. Eichel and Stone could be a deadly duo though. The one safe thing they did was making the 1st rounder top 10 protected. Although I will laugh if they finish 11th or 12th last in the league, and have to give up the pick, which is very possible. I like the addition of Tuch and Krebs for Buffalo. They were never going to get full market value for Eichel. Glad Tuch is out of our division.

[PGT] New York Rangers at Vancouver Canucks | Nov. 02, 2021

People saying Pettersson is playing like an AHL player need to get a grip. He got an assist and several scoring chances. His shot isn't where it should be, but if Shesterkin didn't get a piece of that one timer that hit the crossbar, he would have got a goal. As frustrating as our power play was to watch, Shesterkin deserves some credit for blanking us. -

We really need to figure out our special teams. I'm not sure whether I should be more concerned about our power play or penalty kill. We had one of the top ranked power play just a couple years ago, and on paper it should be better now. Maybe Newell Brown wasn't the problem... I would put Ekman-Larsson and Hughes on the points of the 1st unit, and bump either Miller or Horvat down to take faceoffs for the 2nd unit. I think getting Motte back will help our penalty kill a lot. Dickinson does some good things, but he always seems to get unlucky. -

Our special teams were dreadful though. Once we figure them out, we'll be a playoff team. -

The first two periods were so frustrating to watch, but I was thoroughly entertained by 3rd period and overtime. That Demko sequence. Holy $&!#. That was some Dominik Hasek type $&!#... Saved us the extra point, and Green's job. -
I think Rathbone has generated good chances. With some more seasoning, he will convert them. Good move sending him down. Being snakebitten and turning the puck over is the recipe for losing your confidence, even if you're doing some good things. He showed glimpses of being an NHL player.

Can't believe we're 28th in the league. Had such high hopes for this season. I agree with one thing though--we can't tank.

[Waivers] Cory Schneider, Kyle Criscuolo
Nave replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'll always remember Schneider fondly. We were so lucky to have two top flight goaltenders. And it was great to see him become a top 5 goalie with the Devils. -
He might miss the net, but only by a bit, and he usually aims for the right spot. I'm encouraged by the progress of his shot. OEL gets his shot on net a lot more. Not just more than Hughes, but almost any player we've had on defense in a long time.

A bright spot of our Power Play has been Hughes, followed by Horvat. Hughes has been dangerous on the point, and Horvat has been dangerous in the slot. Pettersson--a big part of our power play--has been too static, and standing too far off from the circle, taking away his shot. With how well Garland has been playing, I wonder if we should bump him up to the 1st unit. However, he looks comfortable with OEL. Our power play should be better this season with our improved second unit. However, our first unit is spending too much time doing nothing. Once Pettersson gets going, and he will, I think our powerplay will improve significantly.

Is Pettersson not the same player we expect him to be?
Nave replied to b3nnyb's topic in Canucks Talk
I think he has made some good plays, but his play away from the puck is too static. Not worried though. He is coming off an injury and no training camp. Once he gets going our team will be very dangerous. -

I think Pettersson has looked pretty good in half the games we have played. He was bound to have a slow start because he missed training camp. Consistency will come. -
I think it's premature to say they're tanking. But they're definitely not making the playoffs.
