  1. He has good lateral skating like Selanne, and hovers around the net in a similar way, but I never realized how much hustle he has. That's what made me say he'd be good with the Sedins--he not only looks for space, he goes for the puck and forechecks with a really active stick. His cycle game looks solid, and playing with good teammates helps develop that. Going to UND was the best thing for his career.
  2. I was actually thinking that. Tkachuk would be great with the other two. People said he's a "complimentary player," cause he plays with two highly touted prospects on the London Knights, but you need those glue guys. Besides, I don't think anyone can doubt how good he is after the OHL playoffs. Looks like Benning is stockpiling guys who could play with the Sedins in the twilight of their careers, but also together: Guys that are chippy, cycle well, and have great shots--like Sutter, Hansen, and Virtanen. With how he's developing, Baertschi also fits in interestingly, cause he's so good at passing. Could be very good with Boeser while Tkachuk and Virtanen play on Sutter or McCann's wing. So many possibilities.
  3. We got a player. Actually looks like he could play with the Sedins in a couple of years. Horvat - Boeser would be cool too.
  4. ... I never want to go to Cranbrook. Kidding aside, Boeser looks like a player
  5. Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Still, I hope he finishes his career a Canuck.
  6. I really hope he's back next year. $4.5 mil is a lot, but frankly, he was most underpaid player for years, so it shouldn't be that much of issue. I think he'll retire if we don't bring him back. I can't see him in another jersey--and considering his "get another job" comment, I think neither can he.
  7. Lol, his no goal signal clotheslined him.
  8. Great pick by Benning. He's undersized, but his skill and tenacity mitigates that. And, he understands he needs to get bigger. Really looking forward to our next draft.
  9. Yeah he was drafted Benning's first year. Great pick. Seemed kinda questionable cause we had Miller, Lack, and Markstrom
  10. What? He was drafted by Jim Benning.
  11. Watched him live last game, and he was way more vocal than I thought he'd be. Directed players to where they should be defensively, and asked questions between whistles. He's very engaged, and I like that. I always thought he had better hockey IQ than given credit for, but seeing him play defense in the flesh made me realize he's better in that area than I thought. That is a part of his game that has more potential than we might have anticipated, and added to those tools he has that's pretty scary; still what he needs to work on the most though.
  12. I think Granlund will be an NHLer, but Shinkaruk has more potential. I'll take the potential.
  13. Once he learns to use his speed to create turnovers he'll be dangerous.
  14. Boeser is a sniper; just the player we needed. But he's also positionally sound, and has good timing with his passes.
  15. It's not like we got a bad player. It's obvious we got a good prospect.
  16. Boeser's game is not really speed, it's positioning himself for a shot, and he should improve his skating in ways that would help that. Horvat looked sluggish off his first step and now he creates so many partial breakaways for himself. Boeser's game is more one timers and things of that manner, but that extra burst of acceleration might expand his repertoire a bit.
  17. I agree, but Virtanen has a good shot and just hasn't been able to use it in the nhl. I bet that once he starts getting chances he'll gain confidence and become a productive player.
  18. Why is it hard to believe that McCann liked Naslund growing up? He modeled his game after Kesler.
  19. His shot is unreal. Quick release and he shoots exactly where he wants to. He's good away from the puck too. We got a gem here.

    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

Always liked Rodin, but it's amazing he's playing so well.
  21. His passing is better than advertised.
  22. "There's no hiding it. I did want to play that game," Luongo told reporters. "I mean that goes without saying, and if I would have played I probably would maybe still be here. Who knows?" http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/roberto-luongo-says-heritage-classic-snub-led-to-vancouver-exit-1.2891973
  23. He was run out of town cause the media and fans made him feel like he was in a fish bowl. Same thing happened to Bure, and look where he went. He was great to both Schneider and Lack, and I really do think he was starting to get comfortable here again. Torts not playing him in the Winter Classic was the straw that broke the camel's back.
  24. CuJo is famous for making a bad Toronto team extremely fun to watch, but Luongo probably played even better when he was on Florida the first time. So mad he was run out of town. Should still be here, solidifying his legend.
  25. Should have got the Gordie Howe hat-trick. Farnham was such a douche. Saying "that was for you" when Virtanen knocked him on his ass. The only reason he got another punch was cause the refs did a horrible job breaking them up.
