Is this the hardest season ever to be a Canucks fan?
Nave replied to CanuckFan1123's topic in Canucks Talk
Saying the team should be moved is a little extreme. I'm a Canucks fan through thick and thin. Not saying you haven't been--52 years is a long time, and I haven't been even been alive that long--but still. -
It's too early to say. Mikheyev and especially Kuzmenko have been great additions. I am a little bit frustrated with the draft, because we didn't draft a defenseman despite the obvious need. But we should wait until the TDL to bring the pitchforks out.

I just did the whole defense besides Hughes basically.

[Rumour] Canucks interested in Alexis Lafrenière

Miller's contract isn't a bad contract, but we have a dreadful cap situation that needs to be rectified. -

You're focusing too much on this year. He almost got 100 points last year. Someone who puts up points at that clip is not someone you just give away. This year, he has 30 points in 36 games. He's within striking distance of getting a point per game. Ignore the first 6 games where the whole team was playing terribly, and he's basically there. We got him for a 1st rounder, and he's proved to be worth a lot more than that. We should appreciate that. It's myopic to focus on the brief tantrums on the ice this year, and ignore everything he's done for us. -

Kuzmenko is great with Pettersson though. Lafreniere, I think, would be great with Horvat. -

This I can agree with. I think his playing ability far outweighs his "bad attitude." But we have so many exorbitant contracts on this team, and he's one of the only ones who still has trade value. I just think we should squeeze a 2nd out of them at least. I think Lafreniere has immense potential, and it's laughable people are comparing him to Yakupov. -

But if "fans" are dumping on him when he's out for a meal with his family, that's not something you can really avoid is it? I thought it was great how Boudreau put Miller and Horvat together when there were reports in the media that the team was fractured into Horvat and Miller factions. They played great together. I just wish people appreciated him more. That's all. -

Exactly. And he was a heart and soul guy too. -

I don't know why people are acting like Miller is someone we should offload at any opportunity. Dude has turned into a roughly point per game player since he joined us. Yes, he shows bad body language at times, but fans aren't helping things by alienating him. Some fans' behaviour towards him at the beginning of the season was unacceptable. He may be a prick, but he's still a great player. Bure said playing in Vancouver was like living in a fishbowl, and still we never learn. I'm not saying we shouldn't trade Miller for Lafreniere, because we need to resign Horvat, who is more of a pure center. But I wouldn't trade Miller for Lafreniere straight up. They would have to add. -

[Discussion] Do You Have the Stomach For a Rebuild?
Nave replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
It's hard to believe we're talking about a rebuild cause this was the most excited I was about a season since 2010. That's hard to stomach, but I'll stick with this team through thick and thin. -
0-5-2 with 75 games left. Can we turn it around?
Nave replied to PetterssonOrPeterson's topic in Canucks Talk
I still like our forwards... defense is another story... and Demko isn't playing his best. I want us to win again, but it might be best to tank and get Bedard or a RHD. -

[Report] Oilers release Jake Virtanen from his PTO
Nave replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I feel bad for him. Hope he can continue his career. But it's clear he wasn't focused on hockey; he was focused on clearing his name. Might be awhile before he can make it back to the NHL. -
Not happy with giving up the 2nd, but the left side of our defense looks good with Hughes, OEL, and Stillman. Hard to say we win this trade considering we gave up a 3rd for Dickinson, and gave up a 2nd just to trade him, but we added toughness and Rathbone can marinate in the AHL just a little longer. Reserving further judgment until we make another move.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller
Nave replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The way I look at it is, this could be an amazing contract for 5 years, and a bad one for 2. I'm glad we'll have him for our cup window. -
[Signing] Islanders re-sign Noah Dobson
Nave replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I still can't believe this signing. What a steal. -
I think I'll stick with NHL 19. Thank you.
