I'm happy with the trade. Making this trade makes us comfortable with taking a top forward prospect that falls to us. This is one of the best drafts in years as far as forwards--defense, not so much. If we didn't make this trade, we would have felt screwed if Sandin-Pellikka or Reinbacher were off the board (as I am starting to suspect they will be). Who would we have drafted then... Willander?
I'm not seeing anyone mention that it wasn't Hronek for a 1st and 2nd, it was Hronek and a 4th for a 1st and 2nd. We now have 5 picks between the 3rd and 4th rounds. We can recoup the 2nd lost in a trade, or go for volume and have more shots at the dartboard. The trade wasn't made in a vacuum.
Hronek is now our 2nd best defenseman behind Hughes, and I think he's going to prove his worth next season. Even in those 3 games he played with us, we looked like a better team.
