  1. Jake is such a character. Even if he never truly discovers his first line scoring form, he will be a beast on this team and a local icon. We could have obviously done better in the draft, but we could have also done far worse (Dal Colle for instance!).
  2. Nothing but good things so far. He's prone to the mistake here or there, but then again who isn't. Should be interesting to see how he continues to progress this year.
  3. We've got something here ladies and gentlemen. Let's not pile the pressure on the kid and just let him learn and grow! If we are able to temper our expectations and limit EP's exposure to the trolls and see what we have here :D
  4. Hard not to be excited for Lind, he looks like a hell of a young up-and-coming player for us!
  5. I wish Jake would throw his body around a bit more (like his first year) but with that said, his positional awareness is much better this year and he seems to be thinking the game quicker. Amazing what a summer of serious training (like a professional should) will do for a player.
  6. Sounds like Goldy's had a good time in Utica.... we sorely need scoring so it seems like a match with Erickson going down injured.
  7. I feel like a speed line with jake, bo and brock would be quite a fun line to watch and could potentially pay off! Bear's done well this year, but a change-up could be needed to kickstart everyone's production.
  8. Good game from Brock today, that is what he can do. He played alright for the majority of the game, then BOOM, he's off and scores. So dangerous with his shot. If he can work with Bo's skating coach to increase that extra half-step of speed, he could be quite the player!
  9. I respect that.... however I still think Laba's style is a bit too chaotic to be trusted in the center of midfield. Ghazal + Tchani are a much better pairing who work off each other than whoever was with Laba imo.
  10. Quite a season for the boys in white and blue. Hopefully, they ride the momentum into the playoffs and don't let up. This could be something special! On a side note, this streak of great play seemed to start once Laba was shut down for the year..... maybe he wasn't working in our new team model?
  11. Never in a million years would a 19-goal versatile player clear waivers. Especially on his cap-hit. Edit: Just realized this was from 2016. Sorry for bringing it up!
  12. That could be it, in which case I really do feel bad for the guy. However, I used to play semi-professional sports and anyone from my teams throughout the many years of playing that were out of shape were like that for a reason: Lack of effort during conditioning sessions. Still, I hope this doesn't kill his confidence and that he thrives in Utica!
  13. He's got an NHL shot and IQ, however, he can't keep up to the pace with his skating and stamina lacking so much. If anything, Utica is going to be a great team to watch this year! Probably more exciting than the Canucks unfortunately
  14. Well, I am assured that he hasn't completely shut down the possibility of coming back to VAN. Sounds to me (as has been mentioned previously) that he and Willie were not seeing eye to eye, and he left because of that. I'm sure he'll be paying attention to what Green does and asks the boys he knows on the team what they think of him. Wouldn't be surprised that if all goes well, we will see him back in the near future.... Which would be a huge boost to our d-core!
  15. It is hard to not be too optimistic and think that this could finally be our year to make a push in the playoffs! The team has really gelled well together, with all additions being key cogs in the starting 11 or acting as impact subs. It's going to be a fun ride!
  16. People need to calm down and give the kid some time to mature. A year in Finland playing for Salo will do him wonders. Look no further than the Virtanen situation. This time last year, everyone was calling for JB's head, saying Jake was a total bust. The tune has changed quite a bit nowadays, so give Olli some time guys! He'll be a good one, we just need to be patient.
  17. This kid is the real deal, just needs to add some more muscle (which will come as he matures) and he will be set. The vision and skills are all there, not it's up to the Canucks to not rush him and guide him with proper leadership!
  18. A solid addition who will be able to help give the kids some insight on how difficult it can be to convert from an offense only player in juniors to more of a utility player in the NHL. Best of luck Sam
  19. I think this is Jake's year. From being not ready mentally his first year and not being ready physically last year, he just wasn't prepared for the season. Now that he knows what to expect, I think he is going to surprise people. I have to, thinking negative thoughts is just not worth it.
  20. I'm still excited to see what Jake can do in preseason... We never expected the season Bo had from him this time last year so we should just believe in our coaching staff to make the right call on Jake and take it from there! Support is much better than critiquing his every play imo. Let the kid play and I bet he will be a fan favorite (like Bo) by the end of this year.
  21. I'd push for a little more but with more term tbh. Its obvious Benning sees something in this guy so get him to take a bridge "prove you can do it in the NHL deal" and go from there... 3 years @ 1.8-2.1mil/per is more than fair and could work out well for us in the later stages of that contract
