  1. I honestly do think Dahlen would do better than Goldy if he was called up. He is sneaky when it comes to defence, like Petey is. I'm not as worried about him as others are. His big issue is confidence, but once he gets it he doesn't let go like Goldy does...Dahlen continues to rise, Goldy is a roller coaster of mental fragility.
  2. I took it as such as well, but I think he has lots of family in BC still. I heard he still frequently comes back to vacation here...think he's from Cranbrook. Anyways, ya most likely Detroit.
  3. ....we have a presidential opening on our team too...and he's a BC boy...one can dream!
  4. I’d love to see Ferland on this team! He may even relish coming back to the west and shoving it down Calgary’s gullet that they traded him.
  5. True enough, but a lot of places I go in northern BC have great Canucks fans. Prince George, Smithers, Terrace, Williams Lake, Quesnel, Salmon Arm, Kamloops, on and on. The wife and I love doing road trips and checking out all the little corners of BC and we meet a lot of fellow die hard Canucks fans along the way. I would just a bit more provincial identity with the team. But you are right it is the Vancouver not BC Canucks. At least the blue and green matches the province well! In any case i'll be excited to see what the next wave of Canucks teams will look like. Whether they do a minor tweak or a full change over i'm looking forward to it.
  6. Yeah I heard Utunen...scores!...took me a sec, then it hit me...and I laughed at the irony. But this game has no blame on DiPietro, he played dynamite! His play this season has earned him a spot on Utica next year.
  7. Very true, I wouldn't want to give up a lot to get him. But I look at what they got for Karlsson, if you can scrape up some spare parts to land him it may be worth doing. But if it hurts too much just go after him as a UFA for sure.
  8. If there is a way to get Stone out of OTT for a front row chance at signing him i'd be all for it! Even if that doesn't happen I hope we throw some money at him this off season. He is exactly what we need in our top 6! ...well any teams top 6 for that matter!
  9. six, six, six! The number of the beast! (haha thought you may enjoy that seen as your profile pic has Eddy in it)
  10. Bargain bin Benning strikes again! Seriously, this guy could fill a grocery cart for 100 bucks lol. I like the trade.
  11. This is kinda crazy, I did not see this video till now. But last game against the Czecks he actually reminded me a lot of Quick! I kept doing a double take, it wasn't a busy game for him but the big saves he did make looked very similar! The way he battles to make saves and how aggressive he is on the puck is exactly like Quick...not a bad goalie to want to emulate! And another plus, he's not a hot head like Quick is lol.
  12. The problem I have is that Vancouver is BC’s team. A large portion of this provinces population live no where near the coast line. If this is truely BCs team a lumber jack is exactly the identity you want... I’m not saying I like the Johnny Canuck logo, but just making a point about this teams identity with the province as a whole. I come from a small town in northern bc. A lot of us feel a bit left out when it comes to this team. I think the Canucks realize this too. The fact they are holding Canucks related events in smaller towns thru BC is extremely important for this franchise. Love that they hold pre season games in smaller towns now, and would love to see more of it. The youngstars tourney is fun to go to in Penticton as well. Anyways long story short lol...The Canucks may actually go with something that has more provincial identity. Financially it makes sense for them to do this. I actually like all of our teams jerseys. I’ve been a fan for a long time and I love each jersey for each era it represents. It’s the evolutionary chart of our team so to speak. I’m stoked to see what they have in store for next year!
  13. Thanks for the constant in game updates Googlie! I haven’t been able to watch any AHL action since last week. Cheers!
  14. I understand the frustration with Juolevi and where he was taken in the draft. But if we look at the facts, he is still a very good defenceman. This year he was producing on the power play, which is something we need (even with Quinn in the system). And was learning his defensive side of things. Which can always be taught through proper training..Repetition leads to success. On the “IQ” side of things i’m not worried either, he’s shown to be a learner and when he does catch on he really excels. We gotta take the long game with Joulevi, not every prospect is a short shot into the hole. He still has good intangibles that you can work with and make a good defensive prospect out of. The injuries is where I worry most about him. But hopefully with a maturing body and him putting more muscle mass on could help him out immensely in his case. The type of game he plays he needs to get stronger. He’s so tall and lanky, adding bulk to that frame should stabilize him a bit more at the pro level lol. Some prospects take patience and time in building the proper foundation... If you build them well enough you end up with a solid product. The Canucks and Green have shown a decent knack in re-moulding long term projects/prospects. Our recent robbery of Leivo is case in point. It’s nice to know management can see past all the hype and determine what is best for each one of its players. This depth of knowledge on player development was sorely missed in the Gillis years.. Not all prospects can be treated with the same approach. Pre Benning regime was terrible at recognizing that. This regime seems to turn diamonds out of coal on the regular... Whether a low round pick exceeding expectations or a forgotten under developed prospect from another teams system, Benning and co seem to find ways to get the best out of each talent they acquire...for the most part! So once again, here we are patiently waiting for Joulevi to arrive...It could be a while, but it should be worth the wait!
  15. For sure, I do think this season is the season to trade him if we're going to do it. Good point on this is the year to do it. We all want a good product on the ice and want our prospects to learn and grow this year. This is being done with out Sutter in the line up now that Beagle has solidified things down the middle and Gaudette performing better and growing into that role as well.... I'm really torn tho, I love the way Sutter plays and have always been a fan. Will have to wait and see what happens!
  16. They came close! It was when Geoff was playing for the Blues and Russ was with the Canucks (after they played together for the Canucks). They played eachother hard lol.
  17. If there is anyone who could get us another 1st round pick it's Sutter. He's that highly regarded. I have the same concerns as you guys about whether it's worth it or not. But lately we haven't needed him so we could potentially sell high on him. Down side is, Beagle goes down again and we're in over our heads just like that. Teetering on the ragged edge lol.
  18. I remember that! I couldn't believe it was happening! Meat heads lol. But honestly I grew up fighting with my brother so it's not that far off to imagine. I remember the Courtnell brothers going at eachother hard back in the day too. Can't remember if it ever came down to fisticuffs tho?
  19. I've watched Utica games all year. And I do not always share the same opinions as the fans from Utica. They are great sources for team news in general, but we all have a differnt eye for the game. So you can't just take their word for it over everyone elses. Great example I watched the 5-2 win over Providence and I thought Lind looked good in his minimal ice time. But they disagreed with me, and fair enought they have their opinions... but I seen a lot of things I liked from him. Is he perfect? Hell no, long ways to go. But he is progressing in my opinion. There is a reason Lind is in the line up over Gadjovich and Palmu. He missed a lot of time due to injury and just came back, coach threw him in right away over the other youngsters, that says something to me. There were others who were watching the game with me that night and they seemed to agree as well. Anyways...somewhere in the middle is the truth, as always lol.
  20. Lol, ok you make good points. I haven’t seen all his posts, but the ones I do read aren’t troll level. Village idiot is funny tho. Every village has one, or two, or three haha. Tough job but someone’s gotta do it! I quite enjoy his posts, he genuinely loves this team. I’m a homer for this team myself so I can see where he’s coming from. Most days my rose coloured glasses are on full tilt. But I try to keep myself in check. I respect your opinion on here as well, you give a lot of great info. No matter what our frustrations are with each other we’re all in the same village together, so I just don’t like to see us hacking each other apart online. The only ones I have no taste for are are the negative nay sayers who have nothing positive to say at all. I don’t do well with the doom and gloom stuff. Anyways gonna go back to watching the game again. Cheers Oh and to your last point, I do agree Dahlen is one hell of a dman. Been very impressed with him this year...but I mean how could you not be!
  21. I haven't seen too much of Arseneau, just bought my first season pass with AHL live this year. I have liked what i've seen from Woods in the games i've watched tho, I agree with that. How long is he out for? I thought they were allowed to sign their own players to their team. Didn't know they couldn't do that. Learn something new everyday! Thanks
  22. It reminds me of the CBC movie about Don Cherry, he actually went and sold cars after retiring from the AHL briefly. And did almost exactly what you're talking about haha. Then got offered another contract to come back to the AHL to finish his career. Which then after of course led to him getting his gig with CBC after. And the rest is history!
  23. I loved watching last nights game, their 2nd period wasn't great. But the rest I was happy with. But you make a good point about push back. It used to be Archies department, but he really has moved away from that. He wasn't doing it while up with the big club either! After last nights game I hope Arseneau comes back soon! As mentioned above he would not have taken that crap at all. I laughed at the thought of bringing Sestito back, but if he is in shape what the hell why not! Give a local boy another chance. (but his dislike for the Canucks probably overrides that). I agree we need some more bite on this team. Just not sure what the solution is, or if the Canucks will even see fit to cure it? I'm guessing Esche will probably have to address this issue.
