  1. No offence to Dowling…but I agree. I think it will happen eventually. That line would by dynamite. Dowling has done very well all year so you want to make sure he gets what he is due, but dropping him down to 2 C is no issue.
  2. I have seen that, pretty neat trick. Curious to see how it plays out in the NHL. I really like his adaptability. And after only 1 week of practice with the club he looks way sharper.
  3. I hate to say it’s all the “little” things he does well…but it’s true! And I love his grit to go with it. That’s been my biggest surprise from him. I did not expect it at all.
  4. It’s great to see others notice him. Last year he just walked onto the club and performed like a vet. They had him out there winning draws on the PK and everythingas a rookie! I got laughed at for saying we may have a good 4 C in the making last year. But I do stand by that comment. And seeing his growth this year I have no doubt he will grow into an NHLer at some point. Whether it’s just part time or full time. Great story of hard work.
  5. Bains, Wouters, Klimo line looking good again tonight too. Klimo could have scored on one of the PP’s but he went all stone hands Hansen on the play. Loving Nielsens game again tonight too…but I say that to myself pretty much every night about that kid. Raty if he had better wingers would be on the score board. Karlsson having another pesky game. Lots to like
  6. I thought so too. Maybe will update after game. They don’t get speedy updates like nhl lol
  7. Shoot the announcers said they may have taken his assist away. Still doesn’t take away from the game he’s having.
  8. You counting face off wins at all by chance lol? I keep forgetting to track him on that
  9. He has been very noticeable. If he had some better guys to set up he would probably have 3 assists now.
  10. First letter of the alphabet, it’s a vowel, big star in Wheel of Fortune…worth a lot I’d say. You gotta pay for that kinda superstardom!
  11. ....I can't believe I just clicked and baited to that...I feel shame... Literally no substance. Like at all. Steve Simmons said he talked to a prominent league scout...oooohhhh...I didn't even reach climax...this is BS...i'm gonna do this to something worth while...
  12. Haha yes it was a very Kuzy type goal! And very true, I think the same thing, Vinny probably does feel a bit of pressure to do that role to perfection. Any tough guy has his off nights.
  13. I honestly think his feeling is mutual. Canucks brass made it a point to make him the first ever contract signed by Abbotsford when they brought the team home. Thing is like Gino in his later years he’s developed some scoring touch. His goal last night was a deft tap in, fight thru the d coverage to get his stick on the ice for the on timer and put it past the net minder. A lot of rookies would have flubbed that pass and missed. I don’t think there is a game he plays in where you don’t notice him. His one big downside is that he can sometimes can cross the line too much and cost his team with his antics. It doesn’t happen much anymore but it does here and there still.
  14. That would be a solid thing to do. Not sure if they would go that far. But it would be classy. It will be interesting to see what he does post hockey. I hope he sticks around too. Apparently he is a big supporter of the “community” stuff for the team. So could be in that capacity maybe. When the floods happened last year Vinny was the one rounding up the team to go help.
  15. Well said Alf, couldn’t agree more. Look no further than Vinny Arseneault. He has been protecting our young guys for 6 seasons now. And it seems AKL will be next in line to take over his mantle when he retires. Vinny has been getting injured more frequently lately so I do think it’s coming some point soon.
  16. I didn’t want to be rude and talk about Ryp ending his life…so I said “incident” instead. I really loved him as a player. And miss him a lot. Those Manitoba Moose years were special to watch. It’s where my love for the AHL started. Ryp, Bieksa, Edler, Burrows, Kessler, Scneider…on and on. Those days were great. Then to see the whole lot of them one by one graduate to the NHL was just icing on the cake. This years Abby Canucks is bringing me back to those days. Loving it.
  17. Did we let him go Alf? I can’t seem to remember. I thought we sent him back to the farm then the “incident” happened…or did Gillis not resign him?
  18. Yup, i’d say he’s got that rick rypien aura to him…but unfortunately no offence to Ryp…he would have a hard time cracking a current NHL roster these days. Loved AKLs fight a few games ago against that huge mofo…he was 6’5” or something, tuned him in no problem…reminded me of when Ryp took on that huge guy from Atlanta Thrashers, he was 6’7” and Ryp took it to him and won the fight if I remember correctly…I think it was the one where a piece of his ear tore off during the fight…it was crazy…i’m gonna go find that now and rewatch it. Goosebumps edit: here it is! another edit here is AKL, crazy!!
  19. I will also throw this out there. AKL is looking so much better out there. He is even getting some good offensive looks from the blue line. I'm starting to think we may have something in him. Last year I did not see anything in him other than a tough guy, great AHL guy, but did not scream any kind of NHL potential. If he continues to improve his skating and keeps getting steady minutes on the back end he could turn into something more.
  20. I have been super impressed with Bains lately. He has some great creativity with the puck. Very smooth skater as well. Also shout out to my cousin Vinny for the game winner!! Woot Woot you beautiful caveman! He had a couple bone crunching hits this game too. Lots of choppy play today but that's more to do with all the call ups that just happened. Everyone started out disjointed but took over in the 2nd/3rd periods. Great team game. Also, Tristan Nielsen may be the second coming of Burrows...
  21. Awesome to hear. It’s great hockey to watch. Some barns don’t have the best camera work. But the Abby camera work is top notch as far as AHL goes. It’s gotten better every year tho lately. Every AHL team seems to be upping their standards as streaming interest grows.
  22. That’s super interesting! Will watch for that. Thx
  23. I’m excited to watch him play. Haven’t seen anything on him. I’ll be watching to see how he does at faceoffs and just overall compete level. It sounds like he has some really pro traits and it’s just a matter of time till he makes it to the nhl. Absolutely love thar all our prospects are marinating on the farm finally!
  24. Solid PK all night…till now. Bad time to take a penalty for sure
  25. 100 % he’s ready. He plays like an NHLer. Lotsa small things he does right.
