  1. The Grabner comparison made me excited. I loved Grabner, and really wished we didn't trade him. I don't know what they were thinking with that one. Every time I watched Grabner he was not only fast, and a scoring threat with a good shot, he made all the good subtle defensive plays...always being on the right side of the puck and not being a liability. If Jasek can be the next Grabner, sign me up! No pressure eh
  2. That would be hilarious to see! Too bad I’m not tech savvy enough to do it tho!
  3. Haha i’m picturing the swedish version of WD, like the swedish chef off sesame steet. Herdy gurdy, real gud, herdy furdy!!
  4. What is the deal with all the team Sweden snubs eh?? They sniffing glue? Are they that stubbord!? However, I hope they do snub him and he comes to Utica for the playoffs. But that is me being selfish...
  5. Thanks for the update. I disagree about Lind as well. Just listening to Ryan Johnsons recent interview and he shed some really important light to me about Lind. Which is he is pretty shocked about the difference of hockey in the WHL compared to the AHL. Johnson goes on to state that he is happy with his progress as he is taking it all in stride and is taking the humble approach and watching and learning. Some prospects aren't ready right away. Some need to see what it's like to be a Pro every day all day on ice or off it, so to me it's still a win that he is taking this information and not getting cocky about it, and not taking this opportunity for granted whether he plays or not.
  6. Not only does it show commitment to coming to North America, it shows commitment to his team. Which he has shown time and time again. He's willing to put all the flashy high end accolades aside to focus on his team and nothing else. The fact he didn't leave Timra and go to the SHL shows the kind of player he will become...unfinnished business, okay lets get it done, then single handedly wills the team back into the SHL. Guys like this are what you need on a team. Love it! His sacrifices will lead to greater things in the future. Kid is full of character.
  7. I know it was very strange how he was handled over there. Borderline ridiculous. In any case i'm not complaining because the kid has an absolute fire in his tummy right now. I know you and I have talked about the Hansen comparison, but I really like the way he is trending since he come over. I hope he has a great playoffs. He's got the style of game to be very effective in the post season. No quit motor, chippy, can score, beauty.
  8. HF...hockey fools. Can't stand that site. Full of know it alls. Glad the masses there were once again wrong. Problem is now they just move onto the next subject to crap on and start denying anything they ever said or that it wasn't what they meant and it was taken out of context... Never ends lol.
  9. When your scooter is a space ship, not very fast at all i'd imagine...lol
  10. Okay i'm going to wade into this spill topic a bit more, since i'm an industry worker and have had past experience in this. There is a spill fund that all oil/gas companies put a percentage of their earnings each year into, as mandated by the regulatory authority. The spills I have witnessed in the past never were paid for by the fund we speak of. As it exists for emergency situations like a company going bankrupt and not being able to pay or afford the clean up. But as an active company that creates a spill they have to use their own funds for the clean up. One example: I worked for a company for over 10 years (will not name the company), we hard a large spill in northern alberta due to a pipeline breach in a swampy low lands area. The company immediatly took action and filed a report with the AB regulatory agency. We then enacted our spill response progam and started cleaning things up and repairing the damage done from the spill. Fast forward 5 YEARS LATER, the company is still cleaning up the spill, and sending in continual soil sample tests to ensure the clean up is being done properly. It has cost them several million dollars, but they want to do the right thing and clean it up. One because they have to as there are industry watch dogs that ensure these things take place, and Two: because it just looks bad if you do a half assed job as a company. This is just one company, but in all my years in the industry we have never turned a blind eye away from an environmental disaster. I have several other stories such as the one above. Spills in BC and AB, all are cleaned up, soil is sampled, and the government agencies give the yes or no to whether it has been cleaned up properly. If it does not pass you continue the clean up. With all this being said, I have no experience in tanker spillage in the ocean, but have knowledge on inland water shed spills...I hope I shed a bit of light as to the clean up process that is involved when an incident does happen. It does not get shoved under the rug, it is dealt with, and is kept in check. There are spills that have been cleaned up extremely well, and others that were not. But to ensure a proper clean up has occured, testing in the spill area will be conducted several years after the spill has been cleaned up to ensure no other contaminents have leached out of the soil causing more issues. If leaching does occur, you guessed it, the company goes back to work and starts cleaning things up. All this is paid for by the company who created the spill. Additionally I have seen tanker truck spills on the highway as well, now they don't spill as much as a pipeline or a tanker but they are spills none the less and they are also cleaned up by the company responsible as well... How this works is that the company who put the load of fluid on the truck to be shipped out is responsible for the fluid until it exchanges hands at the reciept point, that being wherever the tank truck unloads its fluids off to. The company that takes the custody transfer of the fluid is now responsible for the product. As you can see product is transported via pipe, rail, or truck but it is all accounted for with companies who "own custody" of the fluid are responsible for anything that happens to it IE: if spills, fires, gas leaks, damage to environment occur they are responsible for. Everything and anything that happens during an incident has someone responsible for the clean up and remediation of the affected area. So now we fast forward to tankers transporting fluid, I have no experience in this, but as you can see from my above explaination there should be a similar set up in place where say, Trans Mountain (Kinder Morgan) is responsible for any spillage until the ship has crossed a certain thresh hold/area, where then the custody is tranferred over to XYZ company over in asia who is buying the product from Kinder Morgan. I wish I could say for sure this is what happens, but as I do not work in that part of the industry I cannot say. To end my post...It's not the wild west anymore, this is an industry that for all intensive purposes is trying to do the right thing. Sure there are bad apples, but to paint every company with the same brush is not fair. There are policies and programs in place to do the best we can to protect our environment. Also one more parting note. All companies are required to attend a yearly spill response and clean up training program, certification of completion of program is achieved, and goes on record. This is a mandatory program that all companies have to attend, no ifs ands or buts.
  11. You know whats funny, is I thought he was talking about KOS the rapper...lol. Thats why I made the people of fame comment. Anyways, yes I agree the time is now to put our efforts towards green tech. I think BC is really doing a good job in this department. We have a lot of promising developments happening here in this province when it comes to clean tech. I want to see that trend continue.
  12. Ugh, don't get me started on people of fame jumping on bandwagons they know nothing about lol.
  13. I really hate the fact you have to be on one side or the other. I do think there is a middle ground. I work in the industry and have been through all the bumps and grinds for over 15 years now. The one thing that always stays constant is the fact we keep our product flowing and still maintain profits. Even when oil tanked back in 2015 things still stayed running in my industry, albeit at a slower/cut back pace. The one thing the down turn in the price of oil has created is efficiency with in the industry. It was extremely bloated at 100 buck oil. Companies we spending money like crazy, it never made sense to me how they maintained their profits. Such monetary waste was happening. Now everyone has sinched up their belts, and are more efficient for it. So they could possibly still maintain profits if something like this was to actually happen. I didn't know until now that the moratorium had been lifted, i'll confess I didn't pay much attention to it, just figured it would never happen. Back to my green vs oil slave. I think if we pro-actively go about this we can land in the middle. Show people that we can take this seriously, and also make money at it. I have no formula, no grand ideas... it would take people from the left and the right to come together and meet in the middle, and that is the most difficult task of all.
  14. I see your points, I was only thinking export wise. I do like the idea of creating our own refineries for our own useage and the betterment of our own people. Kinda like Norway really, and we as a province have similar populations. They enjoy/reap all the benefits of their resources. Could really work if like you said a government comes in and actually goes through with a plan to explore these resources and do away with our ties to AB and SK. Of course easier said than done, but I would be so happy to see it.
  15. Sorry got one thing wrong. It's a vancouver based company, not calgary based. Here is the link. http://www.steelheadlng.com/
  16. I really like this as well. Everyone wins, at least in BC. I'm for it. It would be nice to see us refine our own products again. Same goes for our lumber industry. The issue is most of these other countries can refine our product way cheaper so they just don't see the need in buying anything more than our unrefined product. Until labour laws are enacted world wide we will get the short end of the stick every time because they can process it with cheap labour. And at the end of the day we still need to sell our product. Crappy situation to be in, and countries like China know we can't do eff all about it.
  17. A lot of people don't know there is a strong LNG proposal from the Huy-att first nation band out near Bamfield on Van Island. They have approved engineering and feasability studies on building an LNG facility in Sarita bay near bamfield which is on their land. The band wants to convert an old pulp mill site for the development. The company Steel head energy out of Calgary is in joint venture with them, they have showed great engagement with the community and have gotten a lot further than most LNG proposals as they have made it paramount they work with the local people to ensure everyone is happy. Not just hamming it over your head and saying we are taking this land and using for development, we have the backing of our prime minister, we don't really care what you think. They even went as far as mapping out the natural gas pipeline systems on the Island to see if they could accomodate the facility with the appropriate amount of gas flow so they wouldn't have to build any additional pipelines to feed natural gas to the facility. They are proposing to use and existing network of around (if I remember correctly) 14 different lines to feed the site. This was a major issue with the band and they did not want to see anymore pipelines being built. It shows the company is listening and caring. It's nice to see. EDIT: Also I want to add that they also worked with another band in the Malahat area. This one did not get approved as they concluded it would disturb the ecological area. The water was too shallow and they did not want to disturb the marine life in the area. Once again this is nice to see. I'm all for LNG if it's done properly, with a focus on preserving our natural habitat.
  18. Zama is in no mans land Alberta. Land based spill. I know that doesn't make it better, but just pointing out he was talking about tanker spillage in the ocean.
  19. I don't know guys. Corsi be damned. The kid can play. He has looked great with Sutter and Archibald. Getting all the heavy assignments. You're gonna get hemmed in your own zone when facing the top player in the league. But when I watch him hound and fore check players it reminds me of a mini version of Hansen. No quit, always going hard. His offense is not great, but I do think we got a great defensively minded energy player on our hands. Can you honestly say that watching Motte you have gotten the sense that he doesn't belong? I don't care what metric you measure him by, he is effective and very useful. Jeff Veillette is one of the worst at Canucksarmy, HE LOVES his stats. And considers them gold. Why go and post something like that on twitter? Douche! He did the same for Dorsett, slagged him for his Corsi, and Sutter as well. Then Dorsett is forced to retire due to injury and Canucksarmy writes a piece about how great a guy he was and how much of a warrior he was. Friggin Bi-polar website. I used to read it all the time. They used to not be so full of themselves.
  20. ...how about now...? lol. I do think he is worth a 1 mil contract. Nothing more. But 3 points tonight and showing chemistry with Horvat. Nice to see. I wonder if he is still good at shoot outs? He used to be the best in the league back in the day with Dallas.
  21. I could see bringing him back if the Sedins do retire tho. I'd like to see them sign Bozak for some higher end stability at center. But i'm sure he'll go to a playoff contender. I do think that we need to insulate ourselves from future injuries. Our depth was tested yet again this year, and people complained about how many vets we signed. It was barely enough to keep us competitive. Realistically Bozak would not sign here, so i'd be happy to try and bring back Vanek and Jussi to replace the Sedins. ...but the way the Sedins play with Gagne really have me pondering if they will indeed come back for another year to see if they can continue to make magic with him. For all the knocking we've done agains Gagne this year, and I am one of them...he has been really impressive with the twins. Showing lots of creativity in the offensive zone. May be worth one more year to see how it goes. So conflicted lol. My main point being if 2 vets go, 2 vets need to come back in. In my own opinion. I would love to say let the kids play, but we really do not know how they will pan out till they hit the ice next year. I can't see management having any taste in exposing their youth like that and potentially ruining their development. People cried when Bo was put on the 4th line for 2 seasons in a row, people cried when Jake was held back in minutes, and same with Goldy...proof is in the pudding, look at these guys now. They really bring something to the table other than just being able to "play". The coaching staff is turning these kids from one dimensional players to adding depth and tools to their repetoir and rounded out their PRO game. I am truly impressed how far they have come, especially Goldy. Props due, I have been hard on him. But he is really changing my mind. Other mentionables, Baertchi and Granlund. Both were broken. Both have been fixed. Knock Granny all you want, but he is up there with Sutter on defensive prowess...IMO.
  22. What!? Jasek is real!? He does exist! He is not a figment of our collective imaginations!?... really like that he is coming over, he reminds me of Hansen. Low pick, seems to have a high motor. Which is what was said about Hansen back in the day. I’m buying the Comets playoff package, gonna be fun to watch some future Canuck playoff hockey this year...
  23. We all have our off days Alf...yours just happens to be off the planet...lol
