(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller
Alflives replied to combover's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Getting JK for Miller would be good but I don’t think Carolina would do it. -
Predict The Score Contest: CHI @ VAN April 6 2023

4-3 Windbags Jones, because he’s the only guy on their team I can name. -
The Bloom acquisition is an example of a positive team building move. That’s the relationship to Gillis and departure from Benning.
-
It’s not about a favourite player; it’s about a winning team. Gillis built a winning team. Additions like Bloom are steps to building a winning team. Gillis was great, as proven by the club’s success. Benning was terrible, as proven by the club’s failure. New management is building much like Gillis did, so IMHAO they will be successful.

[PROPOSAL] Tyler Myers to Philadelphia
Alflives replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Buying out OEL creates a definite result. We know exactly what cap space we create. If we keep OEL we are hoping (an unknown) he will play well enough to be at least in our bottom pair. That's a big risk. If OEL sits in the press box while another guys plays ahead of him that would be at least 8 million allocated to our bottom pairing. We could definitely allocate that cap (if we buyout OEL) to a top four guy. So even with the buyout cost we would have a top four D man instead of a bottom pairing guy. It's the sure way to improve our D. Keeping OEL is the risking move. -
So our owner is insane, or had insane expectations for Benning? With that I agree. Now why did our owner expect such success from Benning? Clearly the expectations were so high becasue our owner just had Gillis build a great team and expected Benning to do the same. Gillis' greatness had a definite impact on our owner's expectations for Benning. I see the Bloom trade as a Gillis like move. Another example of this new management looking like they will replicate the Gillis' greatness.

Tryamkin plays his off-side too. So it might actually work. Just depends on the salary demands. Can't over pay. Must buyout OEL first too.

Yup. JR has been saying this about the club since his arrival. They are pretty much where Gillis was when he arrived. And they are retooling the supporting cast so the elite core we currently have can be great. Exactly what Gillis did. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Cole McWard

Yup. These college and Euro free agents are (in a round about way) the second round picks we traded away over the recent years. Just need one or two to grow into a useful supporting role player. -

No it wouldn’t. Hate all Canadian clubs the most. They gave too many fans to celebrate winning. Much better for any US team to win if we can’t. And a club with fewer fans the better. Oilers suck pucks. -
Like how smart this guy plays. Definitely creating competition for ice time.

Why follow the club if it’s a waste of time unless they’re wining? -

[Signing] Canucks sign Cole McWard
Alflives replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
He’s 21. That’s 3 years younger in development. Of course he’s a project. But he’s going to be better than Livingston and the other 24/25 year old college UFAs in a couple years.we win! -
