Do we get a Miller replacement in either of those two trades? Love to get Juricek, of course, but we already moved Bo for Hronek. I just don’t see a Miller trade where we get a guy who can replace Miller at 2C. Would we do JK + for Miller? I’d do Aho for Miller. Maybe the Canes don’t want to commit 10 x 8 to him.

UCONN is very likely to win by double digits. 75-60 or something like that.

[Proposal] Bye Bye to Myers, Garland and Boeser
Alflives replied to BigTramFan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
The only path forward with OEL that is without risk, and is clearly defined, is a buyout. Myers will be traded. He will like Winnipeg. -
Near to impossible to replace Miller. He’s a ppg, heavy minute, big body, power forward, who is excellent at centre. And he is on a very team friendly contract, especially when compared to what Horvat just got. Any young centre trying to produce at that rate while playing the heavy game that Miller does would be more money than Miller makes. We’re pretty much talking about finding a Miller who is 22-25.

Actually we kind of do know how Bo will perform next year. Bo is a 50-60 point centre, who is likely to score even less on a defensive minded system. He isn’t a guy who drives offence. He’s a complimentary player offensively. 68 million is way too much for what Bo provides. Lou Lam even said as much: “too much money and for too long”.

Peeke is a minus 38 or something. He starts his new contract next season. I am confident this management is smart and would only trade for such a player if it was straight up for Garland or Boeser. Otherwise it makes no sense for us to bring in such a player.

Yup. A leadership group. Henrik was a great captain but Daniel was very much a leader too. Both guys were leaders in every way: on and off the ice. 100% committed to making the necessary sacrifices to be their best. I’m guessing Hughes has that quality. Petey definitely has it too. I think JTM is a leader on the ice but (maybe?) he’s also that guy who is speaking up for them off the ice.

Looks good. To get rid of OEL will require a buyout. Got to do it though. Remove the Benning stain.

[Proposal] Bye Bye to Myers, Garland and Boeser
Alflives replied to BigTramFan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
We will be able to trade Myers this summer, as a full dumperoo, after his bonus. The only sure way to get rid of OEL is with a buyout. Garland we might be able to trade for a guy who makes less and fills a role for us, like a checking 3C or a right shot D. -
Nope. If people are feeling sick they dhould stay home. If they must go out then wear a properly fitted quality mask. In hospitals, doctors’ offices and such everyone should be masked. No mask in those settings and no care. Stay the hell awsy!

I don’t think so. Buying out OEL guarantees 7 off the cap for next season. Trade Garland for Peeke, as some have suggested, clears another 2, while reallocating cap to D. Saravelli said several times that after Myers is paid his bonus he will have trade value. Moving off those three guys and bringing in a 3 million dollar D (via the Garland trade) + plus a 5 million dollar D (free agent like Gravikov) nets us 10 off the cap and makes us a lot better. -

Yup. I like the idea of a straight across trade of Garland for Peeke. We clear 2 mil per and reallocate the remainder to D. Buyout OEL and we save huge on the cap. The two years where it costs the most on the buyout we break even. And we get younger and a lot better on D compared to OEL. -

or 7.25 of dead cap allocated to a guy who sits in our press box? -

We are retooling the supporting cast while completing (which is now done with the addition of Hronek) the core. New Beau is producing better than old Bo and is 25 and has only next season left on his contract. He’s an asset. So I’m not seeing what you’re suggesting. We will buyout OEL, and trade Myers and Garland. We will clear lots of cap and reallocate to areas of need in our supporting group. It’s a work in progress. And it doesn’t follow a direct line. -

We dumped Bo (8.5 per coming) for a great RSD who will anchor our second pairing for a long time. Not seeing what you’re saying. -

So you’re saying we would trade for Peeke without sending back Garland or Boeser? I don’t see us wanting Peeke, he’s not a reclamation project, unless we dump Garland or Boeser. You seem to be suffering from PTBD. -

Peeke is 25. I don’t see him as a reclamation project. He is what he is; much like Garland. If we can trade Garland for him then that’s okay. We dumperoo Garland and save a couple million on the cap. But any trade for Peeke has to include Garland, or even better, Boeser. -
