Refs managing the games. Having Crosby in the playoffs is a must for the league and their TV contracts. I hate the Wings, but that was clearly a cheaters call. Good for the coach. He was right to be mad. -
Yup. Their only course that has certainty is to buyout OEL. Keeping him is a crap shoot. We don’t need to gamble. Buy him out!

Guys who drive a line or carry a D pairing are the ones who get the core piece contracts. New Beau is paid like a support player. He's okay for playing that role. He can compliment top six play drivers or check in our bottom six. It's why we traded old Bo. He wanted to be paid like a play driving core piece, but he's more a complimentary player. We need to buyout OEL and Garland. That clears 12 mil for next season and ends the Benning pain.

[discussion] defence retooled internally?

Totally agree. If we don't buyout OEL I see him being a healthy scratch and Brisbois playing his minutes. We'd be allocating 8 million to a bottom pair D spot. If we buyout OEL we clear 7 mil for next season. That's money to allocate to the free agents (at least one of them) you suggest. Makes us so much better. -

Maybe guys like Malinski and Livingston are demanding NHL contracts for this year and aren't willing to play for an AHL club. Kind of opposite to the Sasson guy we just signed? -

What about trading OEL for Colton Paryako? OEL is done in four years and Paryako has more term (a couple years longer) buy a cap hit a bit less. Or do we just buyout OEL and reallocate his cap to free agents? -

Isn’t Woo is the same waiver eligible boat? Hogs can for sure play Garland’s minutes. Bone and Woo? -

Great pick by the Habs at 1OA last year. -
[rumours] Canucks NCAA & Euro FA targets

Woo is playing in a league these older (fully physically matured) college guys would struggle. There are reasons these college guys weren’t drafted. Often it’s due to skating problems or too small. It’s rare to find a Chris Tanev in college free agency. -

Woo is a far better player than those NCAA guys. And he’s only 22. Those guys are two and three years older than Woo. -

Hronek’s next contract will not begin until the following season. OEL has a cap hit for us of around 7.2 per. We will buyout OEL, trade Myers (after his bonus is paid) and trade Garland. That will clear 18 mil for next year. Pearson and Poolman are both done and will be on LTIR. We have plenty of cap room for Gavrikov, plus raises to Kuz and Miller. We will be a fantastic team right out of the gate next season. We are positioned to have many years of winning with a great core.
