[PGT] Vegas Golden Knights at Vancouver Canucks | Mar. 21, 2023

All players, especially the guys who drive play with puck possession and passing, make turnovers at inopportune times. Miller is a proven ppg, power forward, who drives his line with elite skills. Bo is not that level of player. So he must be very careful with how he plays, because he can’t make up for turnovers with elite offensive skills. That’s why Bo’s numbers have dropped so much on his new club. He’s being hyper responsible with how he’s playing. And his skill level isn’t good enough to be both an élite offensive threat while playing the right way, especially off the puck. Our management understood this about both Miller and Bo. It’s why we traded Bo. -
Hughes, insert AHL guy is a top 10 pairing in the league. That’s how phenomenal Hughes is. Insert Hronek (a legitimate top pairing D) with Hughes and that’s top three in the league for sure.

Yup. The rebuild choice means we have to trade Demko, Petey, and Hughes. And then deep dive for the remainder of the OEL contract. That’s four years of drafting high in hopes of coming out of it with players as good as Demko, Petey, and Hughes. It’s kind of in our owner’s hands. He needs to be willing to eat a lot of money this summer to clear the cap so management can properly retool the D. -
Buyout OEL and allocate that 7 mil in cap savings (next season) to getting Gravikov?

Try watching away from the puck too. We can see a lot more than just the play on the puck on the screen. Too many guys were cheating the game (wrong side of the puck) in hopes to get offence. Too many guys were playing east west to avoid contact. Not singling out Bo, but he was our captain and playing too much in those ways. Since Bo was traded the club is much improved in how they play off the puck. And Bo, on his new team, is playing much better (off the puck) too. -

What direction should we take that would be more likely to bring a Cup? I’m guessing you prefer to rebuild. I was on that boat too. But the addition of Hronek has me believing this management knows how to identify the right players. this young core is good enough to win providing they have the proper supporting cast. Hopefully our owner will buck up and buyout OEL. And he will okay a Myers’ trade after the five million bonus is paid. Those two moves clear 13 mil for next season. That’s a lot of room for this management to bring in top four D to support Quinn and Hronek. -

Post Traumatic BENNING Disorder FIFY -
The coaches were talking about playing Hronek with Hughes over these next games. IMHAO the coaches are thinking this for next season as our top four. Hughes, Hronek (12) OEL, Myers (13) Bear is gone. Contract talks have, apparently, according to 650, gone nowhere. So our bottom pairing will be very cheap. Brisbois, Woo (1.5) Total D cap allocation: about 27 mil. Garland is for sure gone to clear cap. His minutes will be competed for by cheap, young guys like Hogs and others.

Canes will be asking on Miller this summer. Kotkaniemi + Morrow + 2023 first. -
Pettersson Vs Hughes: Who’s the more valuable piece?
Alflives replied to Odd.'s topic in Canucks Talk
Hughes was the better player when we have an actual NHL shutdown D for his partner. And considering the success Quinn has had with (at best) bottom pairing D men for partners he’s proving just how incredible he is. -
Buyout OEL and trade Myers after his bonus. Actually pretty straightforward.

Yup. Didn’t we get a third this TDL for that tank commander D guy? I forgot his name, but was pleasantly surprised he returned a third. -
(Rumour). Jake Livingstone D - NCAA - NHL Availability
Alflives replied to SilentSam's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Livingston? If he comes here he had the opportunity to play with Hughes. He would have the best chance with us to build his resume for a bigger second contract. Who, on the Flames, will be like Hughes for a partner? -
Hughes is very good defensively. He’s plus 16 on a team that is a big overall minus. He’s third in the league for D in scoring. And he does this with AHL players for his partner. Hronek is a brilliant 200 foot player too. He was the best Wing’s D. They stink without him. Yes we do need two D to compliment those two guys. But to suggest either of our two top D (Hughes and Hronek) aren’t good defensively is totally wrong.

Islanders are winning though and with Bo have pushed into a playoff spot. Bo may not be putting up points but he is helping them win games by doing the “Little Things” really well. -
Pettersson Vs Hughes: Who’s the more valuable piece?
Alflives replied to Odd.'s topic in Canucks Talk
IMHAO Demko is our most important player. We have a great core now but still need to retool much of the supporting cast to be a complete enough team to carry Demko if he plays poorly. Then it’s Hughes and Petey equally. I would have picked Hughes before we got Hronek, because he was our only high end D. Petey has Miller. Now they each have a core player helping them. -

I think Tocchet wants his players (except Hughes) to not avoid contact. Play to contact and make it hard on the other team to move with speed. I love seeing a guy legally obstructing players who are trying to skate freely. Make the other team skate east-west to avoid our guys. Then we win the straight lines. -
Yup. 25 year old, puck moving, RSD, who is a top pairing guy. He will anchor our second pairing for the next 5-8 years. He will take some of the load off Hughes too. And we have some fans wanting to trade him because he is a great young player who will deserve a 7 x 7 contract? Are these fans of our club or the team we would trade him too?

Miller is amazing. It’s a good sign that Demko can struggle and we can still compete. Liked Podz and Kravs. Both competed hard on and off pucks and played the right way. And Miller is amazing.
