  1. Wife is a farm (ranch) girl from Southern .Alberta. My family's farm was here, in the Fraser Valley. We are retired now, but had a farm in the .Columbia Valley, up near Cultus lake. Know the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Hudson Hope are pretty well. When the wife and I bought our farm, we looked in Metchosin too. Beautiful area, no doubt. Lived the city life, house in town, during the week, and went to the farm on weekends, holidays, and such. Had caretakers to help out. Ended up spending almost all our time on the farm anyway. Now we're old, and live in a friggin' condo:( only good thing about that is I can toss things off the balcony and hit people on the sidewalks below. Kept a couple cattle prods too. Keep one charged up, and it rides shotgun on my scooter. If buggers on the sidewalk slow me down, I whack 'em good.
  2. Does that make him a $&@tty person? I doubt this guy ever makes the NHL anyway.
  3. is Palmu, by any account, a $&#ty person?
  4. The way JB signed UFAs this summer, don't you get the feeling none of the young guys will make the big club out of camp/preseason no matter how well they play? I would love to see Juiolevi with Gudbranson on our third pair, but don't see it, even if the kid ears the spot. Same with Boeser. Love to see him with the Twins 5 on 5, but doubt it happens. It's just looking like ALL the youth will be back in Junior, in the AHL, or in Europe.
  5. I grew up on a farm, and Mrs. Alf and I had our own farm too. We both loved the farming years too. There was always lots to do; never bored. I wonder if Palmu is a farm boy? He's sure a stocky, and likely strong, looking guy.
  6. If this is what fishing can do for a hockey player's muscles, then I'm all for Palmu fishing. (I think Howe was likely a farm boy). Did you see the Bobby Hull picture, where he's pitching hay on the farm? Bo is a farm boy, and he's super strong.
  7. Wow! Is there really any chance for this? Maybe the Russian "Kabob" is friends with our Russian "Goldy"?
  8. Well, I'll be the head dumb**s. Fishing is clearly not good for hockey players.
  9. I'm hoping Jake can drop a few more pounds, and be a lean 200 pounds, but keep his power and strength. He would be amazingly fast at that weight.
  10. I think Jake's last posted weight was 207 from a couple weeks ago.
  11. I agree about Willie. If he did a good job, would he have been fired?
  12. I understand what you're saying. When Jake is in his prime years, he will still be earning a lower salary. Personally, I would rather he breaks out this season, becomes a 20+ goal scorer, who hits, and pay him more now.
  13. Seems like a genuinely nice person, so really pulling for him.
  14. Stecher outplayed all the defence last camp and preseason, and he got cut. I hope they don't make the same mistake with our d this year too.
  15. Heard on ESPN radio you guys (assuming you're a Bill's fan) have 2 firsts + 2 seconds + 2 thirds in the 2018 draft. I think the Bills are back in 2019-2020.
  16. Chip, have you heard any news on how Adam Bighill is doing down with the Saints?
  17. Maybe it's a good thing Palmu is such a renegade? We need that on our team.
  18. Yup, CDC loves the Chihuahua
  19. That's my point. He's never been light and in shape. He's likely always been overweight, and easily fatigued, which certainly affects his cognition. If, now being 30 pounds lighter, and (expectantly) fit he's still dumb as a sack of hammers on the ice, then he's a BIG BUST. I think I'll give him this one chance though to prove he can think the game better, when fatigue is not interfering with his cognition.
  20. There is plenty of evidence showing a direct correlation between fatigue and cognitive function in athletes. Fat out of shape Jake's cognition was absolutely negatively affected by his 30 extra pounds and lack of fitness. Judging his hockey Q on watching him play while fat and unfit is not relevant to the new 30 pound lighter and fit Jake.
  21. I'm postulating that JB felt (his opinion) those other two would not be able to produce in the playoffs, while Jake would. I'm not saying I agree; I'm trying to figure out the why behind the pick. If it's not JB's predicted playoff performances of these guys, then why the pick?
  22. Someone posted this JB comment earlier about the Seguin trade. I am certainly trying to come up with a reason why JB selected Jake over a couple obvious better choices. "“We’ll miss his speed. … In the regular season, we’ll miss his speed,” said Jim Benning, then the assistant GM."
