  1. Nice post CC. I know that Stecher (although arguably our next best Dman coming our of the pre-season) got sent to Utica last season, so I'm hoping you're right, and those who earn spots get them, regardless of waiver rules. I see a 30 pound lighter, and more fit Jake making our team.
  2. I thought Boucher has to clear waivers?
  3. He sounds like a guy who realizes this might be his last chance, and he's not going to come to camp out of shape. I see a lot of competition for spots in our forwards: Twins Errikson Bo Baer ? Sutter Granlund ? Gagnier ? ?
  4. I appreciate your stats, and the time you took to present them. I don't see Jake as a Neely (power forward) or a Tores (energy guy). Jake is a speedy, talented winger with a great shot, who (at times) can make a physical difference. I see Jake as a bigger, faster, and more skilled Jannik Hansen - when he's not producing points, he still effects the game in several other ways. That's a very important player on a successful team.
  5. My point with Brett Hull is that guys who are fat and out of shape, but show signs of potential elite skills (shooting for example) cannot be evaluated completely until (if ever) they play at the proper weight and are fit - until they "get it". Jake is now 30 pounds lighter, and fit. He is way more talented than Raffi Tores. Jake will show this season just how much he was the right pick at six, over those small, soft, perimeter, never be playoff guys that were picked soon after him. Guys on this forum talk endlessly about a couple guys picked after Jake. JB passed over those guys because they will NEVER be part of a team that wins a Cup. JB believed Jake, on the other hand, will be a guy who does make a difference in a Cup run.
  6. I see Pettersson having elite vision and scoring (the kid attacks the net from all angles) so putting up points will be his forte. That's why I would expect 80 + points. Plus, the kid is responsible on the d side of the puck. He contributes, even when not scoring, by being solid in his own end. I just see us needing to wait for him to physically mature. (Kind of opposite to Virtanen who needed to emotionally mature.) I could see Pettersson and Virtanen being excellent line mates.
  7. Agreed! He might be perfect with the Twins, especially on the PP.
  8. I see Gaunce as literally needing to fight to carve out an NHL career. He is going to need to play the Tanner Glass role. I was hoping he could become a Malholtra player, but Gaunce might not be quick enough to do that, so that leaves the Glass role. He is a big boy though, so "bopping" could work.
  9. Agreed. I don't think I've been this high on a JB pick. I really think he's a first line scoring centre of our future.
  10. How long did it take the Twins to get (actually) strong enough to not get too easily knocked off the puck? I remember their early years here, and (although they showed greatness at times) they were pretty weak. I think Pettersson looks amazing! In two or three years he will likely fill out his 6'2" frame, and push 190lbs. I think JB landed a special player in Pettersson, but - much like the Twins - it will take a few years before he's strong enough to consistently put up big numbers. I'd rather wait for a potential 100 point guy to develop, than get a 50 point guy right away - but that guy doesn't get much better.
  11. Jonah is superior to Milan, so he will play; "you know he will play". i stand corrected:)
  12. Just looking at the stats for another sniper in Junior, who didn't figure out being a professional until 23/24. He was even called "pudgy", lazy, out of shape (oh, and not smart enough.). He had a pretty good career. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=2410
  13. What if Boeser turns out like this guy? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Hull or this guy? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Bossy Boeser can shoot the puck, and understands where to be, and how to score.
  14. I looked up Lucic's weight, and he was listed at 204 at the draft. Gadjovic is 201. Plus, Gadjovic is better on his edges already than Lucic ever was. I see this kid making our team this season, just like Lucic did in Boston his first season.
  15. Lucic never really became a great skater, or even a good skater, but he proved to be very effective. Gadjovic might really surprise at camp and force himself onto the team. Who else do we have who plays like that in our forwards - Dorset?
  16. Jake will make the team, score 20+, and this thread will die just before breaking the record.
  17. I would rather we kept Jake though, and see what he becomes for us. Trading him would not be a good idea IMHAO.
  18. Maybe your idea of assigning him to a Utica contract is what's holding things up getting him signed here?
  19. Doesn't he require waivers?
  20. Fox played with McDavid. Fox, as you say, is not even close to Lind. Fox couldn't skate for one.
  21. And play a guy like Goldobin with Bo and Jake. Goldy is a lot more than just a finisher. He has excellent playmaking skills too.
  22. I saw this license plate the other day, and liked its slogan:
  23. Goldy (love that name btw) is 22. He's ready to make a difference.
