  1. Guddy faced the top lines in Fla. Hard to compare his stat line with teammates, when he's seeing much tougher matchups. Didn't Yanick Weber's numbers look great or something when he was with us? (Tanev is amazing in the analytical field, while facing tough matchups. Agreed)
  2. Take a look at Ekblad's first two seasons, and then last year. Gudbranson takes the harder minutes so other guys can explore the offence more.
  3. Don't know. Maybe it's my cute avatar it too irresistible? How do you block someone? I can't figure that out:(
  4. It kind of depends on who is there at 8 though, doesn't it? If Petersson is the elite number one play making center we need, then maybe it's worth the risk?
  5. I was thinking Tanev plus a prospect like Cassels, and maybe our #55.
  6. Rather take Makar at five if Glass and Vilardi are taken 3 and 4. Would like to get 8 from the Sabres, take Makar there, and then swing for the fences with Petersson at 8.
  7. http://ajhl.ca/media-centre/news-archives.html?rYear=&nID=37 20 year old men playing against 15 and 16 year old boys creates a troublesome situation in Canadian Junior hockey. Makar, being an exceptional talent, and standing out at a young age would have been certainly the target of opposing teams. It's a rough league:
  8. which shows how good he is, considering the small ice surface and the aggressive nature of NA hockey. He is an elite player, with extremely high IQ and vision. He processes the game very fast.
  9. Makar played over here on smaller ice, and in a rough league, where he was a target of violent hits every shift. There was no place for him to hide. Petersson, although he could be amazing, has yet to play in that type of game.
  10. Could be a big bust over here though. We don't know if his game will work on the smaller ice and NA aggressive play. If it does, he would be great! I just don't see us in a position (our cupboards are so bare) to take that kind of chance. JB needs to get another top 10 pick.
  11. JB waiting to see if he will take on one of Dallas' nasty goalie contracts to get a top pick before signing Miller?
  12. I think it was more the return the Panthers got back for Guddy that POed so many of their veterans. Getting questionable futures (certainly not helping them now) in return for a big minute only hurt their team, as proven by their dismal season keeping pucks out of their net. Was it not Gallant who openly said losing Guddy was the biggest reason behind their poor results? "Gerard Gallant would never admit it (at least not before Sunday), but he hated seeing Erik Gudbranson traded [...]Gallant valued Gudbranson’s game, how hard he could make it on opposing forwards." From this article it appears Gallant was fired (soon after signing a long extension) over his anger about the Gudbranson trade. There is a lot more to evalutating a player's effect on a game than analytics. They are a means to an end, but not the end itself. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/different-visions-led-split-gallant-panthers/
  13. I'd be super happy if after the draft we have Sam Reinhart and Cale Makar. Could we be looking at Chucky?
  14. I heard him interview on 1040. He said he's still growing. Has a brother 6'6" and dad 6'4"
  15. Old time hockey jargon.
  16. Good point. There should be more, but someone (not mentioning any names) traded away picks and prospects:(
  17. I doubt that happens. Realistically, JB gives Gudbranson a longer term some time before the 2018 TDL. 4x4 or something like Sbisa got?
  18. Dallas or Colorado will likely take a dman (Hiskanen?). Vilardi or Glass will be there for us.
  19. Sounds like "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" meets "Kungfu Panda".
  20. That's what a rebuilding team would certainly do. Are we really committed to the rebuild though? I guess we will find out at this coming draft. If Tanev moves for a top 10 pick the rebuild is truly on. If he stays, then it's back to the retool concept.
