  1. I think Dahlen was a steal by Benning. I'm not so keen on Goldy, but I see Dahlen as a future top point producing forward. JB did good with those two trades. If one guy works out, it's a win. Same as the draft - some guys do well, and others miss. That's why I'm hopeful JB will (move Tanev?) get us more high picks.
  2. How about we trade Tanev for 3 overall, and draft Makar and Glass? Then we get a potential elite Dman and future number one centre?
  3. Agreed. Safe or not, there were many posters on message boards who wanted other players instead of Jake. Regardless, I'm actually excited to Jake finally play when under 210 and fit. If he is still awful, then he's a dud:(
  4. You, or the other poster are not wrong; neither of you can be wrong. It's an opinion. You're both entitled to your own views. I think Jake's pick was a PR move forced on JB by the owner. Local boy, and similar to Neely. It was to sell tickets. Then the kid makes the team, and there are a bunch of Canuck's video people following him, and putting the videos on the Internet.
  5. And has any player in that top ten really won anything?
  6. Ageed. He reminds me of a mini-Jagr.
  7. Watching Makar in the RBC made the difference for me. The guy plays the entire game with his head up, is an exceptional skater, has great puck skills, and sees the game really well. He might be a couple years away, but he will be a dynamic player for whomever gets him. If JB can turn Tanev into #3, I hope he takes Makar. Then Colorado takes Hiskanen at 4 and we get Vilardi at 5. I think those two pieces would make our completed rebuild more competitive.
  8. I think Olli is on our team this season. He will likely play in the third pair with Gudbranson. He might even sit out some games and and train to get heavier. I see him with us and playing around 60.
  9. Orr was just under 6 feet too, and even lighter. Erik Karlsson is not heavy nor tall. Makar has unique skills, and (perhaps?) the highest ceiling of any player in this draft.
  10. I bet we take Vilardi at three and Makar at five. That's what going to happen! "Book it Danno"
  11. heavy drug users have special protection?
  12. Alf says take money wasted on free bees in health care to those who don't do anything but leach from us.
  13. Our Heath care costs are through the roof, leaving no money for protecting our borders, especial our northern border from nasty Russians. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/health-care-insurance-costs-skyrocket-canada-system-unsustainable-182904579.html too many free bees to those who never contributed.
  14. There's no room up here to increase taxes. What ever you guys do down there, don't go for universal health care.
  15. Agreed. Sooner is a lot better than waiting to hear at the last moment.
  16. I agree 100%. It's the idea of 33 and 55 for 3 that is the issue. I don't know the actual results, but it seems like a guy taken at 3 is more likely to be a difference maker than two guys taken at 33 and 55. Wouldn't the odds be in our favor?
  17. Ya, likely that's what happens. There is hope though! Trader Jim can still come through for us!!! We have right up until that third pick is actually taken by Dallas. Betman might come to the podium and say, at that very moment, "we have a trade to announce". How exciting would that be?
  18. I agree. I'm not (any longer) a fan of getting him. It's the concept of JB building a market of competition for Tanev that I'm hoping for.
  19. Just heard on 1040 that Drouin is back in play. If JB can create some competition for Tanev (like he should be friggin' doing) then we should get an exciting return, and still keep our picks. Which teams would want Tanev badly enough to get into a bidding war: TO, Tampa, Dallas others???
  20. I like Vinny's idea of taking Niemi's contract to keep our 33rd pick. I just hope JB keeps from signing Miller until after the draft, so the Dallas door stays open.
  21. A poster put up a chart a couple pages back showing the effectiveness of top picks compared to lower ones, and there was quite a discrepancy. Vilardi has number one center potential, and Makar could be an offensive force from the D. I agree it's a lot to give up, but I think it's worth it.
  22. Why not? 33 and 55 are likely not going to become NHL players. 3 and 5 have way better chances, no?
