God, would LOVE TO TRADE both Tanev and Sutter. Could you imagine adding RNH, Duchene, and Hischier this summer? We'd surely be a HELL OF A LOT more fun to watch.
And that's why I prefaced my post with, "I mostly agree". I want Jake to develop into more than a bottom six guy. I think, considering his draft position, there's no reason not to keep expectations high, for now.
Right now it's hard to disagree. Tkatchuk is performing in the NHL, while Olli is still in Junior. I FIRMLY BELIEVE that Olli will be not only a more valuable player than Tkatchuk, but he will mature into an elite - minute munching - number one. Tkatchuk is what he is right now. Olli will become in four or five years the elite number one stud we've never had. Which would you rather have?
The Canucks have coached the "playing" hockey out of Jake, and have him "thinking" too much. That's not his game. He needs to be left to just play, and he'll be fine.
Watching the "Pink Double Flamingo" tonight against the Caps. The kid is a total perimeter player, and a McSofty. Hate the Leafs, and hate that little pretty boy.
Love Gaunce. I think having Malholtra really helped Gaunce accept (at the NHL level) he needs to be a defensive minded, hard to play against fourth liner. If the guy would learn to fight, he would never lose his spot in the line-up.
I would hope for both, but settle for either. Tanev is a very good defensive d-man, but getting both those assets for him, might be difficult. If you had to choose either one or the other (Duclair or pick 3-7) for Tanev, which would you prefer?
