  1. Yup. And Benning paid Mccaan (a recent first) and a second for Guddy. Too much for what Guddy brings. Hronek will anchor our second pairing. He’s worth the price paid.
  2. Yup. Kravtsov is a lot more engaged physically than I expected. He’s thinking too much though. As he learns the way the coaches expect him to play, I see him playing faster. Big, skilled, and physically engaged is a good starting point.
  3. How? Aquilini needs to approve any buyout. The owner isn’t firing management for suggesting it’s an option. He will just say no, and management looks at other options. Likely they’ve already had that conversation.
  4. Maybe we are suffering from PTBD? (Post Traumatic Benning Disorder) Hronek is a heck of a good player. This isn’t Gudbranson.
  5. The owner writes the cheque for a buyout, so he has to approve it in the first place. If he doesn’t like the option, if it’s proposed, then he says no and we (fans) never even hear about it.
  6. Maybe OEL’s foot is so bad he ends up on Robideau Island? If we buy him out he ends up with less money than if he is on LTIR for the rest of his contract.
  7. Sure, Bo is doing matching up against top lines and freeing up other guys to have softer minutes. Now we no longer have that pick in pulling for the Islanders to get into the playoffs and make that puck even lower in round one. The timing of the Bo trade gave Allvin time to make the Hronek deal. It was brilliantly done by Allvin. That islanders’ first doesn’t have enough value now to bring in Hronek.
  8. It was reported we offered Bo 49 million. (650 kept saying it) If true it was likely 7x7 which would have been more than fair for what Bo provided. Now he’s going into a 68 million dollar deal (8.5x8) and that’s a lot for a 50-60 point average defensively centre. Like you point out, turning Bo into Hronek, New Beau, and Raty was an excellent rebuilding and retooling move. We got a much needed key core right shot D, a good supporting piece, and a (potential) future defensively minded 2/3C. A move most fans hated in the moment, but accept now as needed to make us better now and in the future.
  9. We have a great player now in Hronek to carry OEL on our second pairing.
  10. Hronek with Hughes would be one of the best D pairs on the league. Heck, Hughes with Bear was very good too. Hughes with AHL D works. Hughes is an amazing player. If Hronek anchors our second pairing then we have one of those two on the ice for 50 minutes. I wonder how many minutes OEL can manage? 15?
  11. Maybe OEL gets healthy and fit enough to play on our second pairing and be carried by Hronek? He could play PK too. Then next summer, when Hronek is do his new contract we buyout OEL?
  12. He’s is doing the “little things”. Where have we heard that before? 68 million for “little things”.
  13. Brock Nelson us reall good. Best Islander player by a lot.
  14. Fact is we clear 7 mil off the cap for next season with an OEL buyout this summer. Play Wooly in that role (he’s better) and we save six mil. Them’s the facts.
  15. Huge comeback by the Caps to embarrass the Sabres. Opportunity knocks for BoHo and the islanders.
  16. The Nurse contract is stupid bad. It’s shows a guy who is selfish. I think Kane took less, like Nuge, too.
  17. I think if Brock worked at it he could become an excellent face-off guy.
  18. Is Demko playing? im thinking he’s getting the night off. So I say we lose. 5-4 stinky dogs Stinkiest dog with the winner
  19. If we are projecting guys to be NHL contributors 3-5 years after they’re drafted we don’t know what our club will really need then, right? Isn’t that one of the reasons why it’s best to draft the BPA (on the courts’ list) instead of going for a “now” need? Our club will likely have very different needs when the drafted player is ready to play for us anyway. (I think I’m understanding this?)
  20. And this is exactly why we should buyout OEL this summer. We clear 7 mil this coming year. Then the cap goes up to cover the buyout costs afterwards. Sure looks like Wooly can replace OEL’s minutes and be better too. Then (maybe?) in a year or two Boner is playing that role for 1 - 2 mil. We are a better club and use the cap well.
  21. Very much like Big Leon. And I like how RNH accepted an offer that reflected the player he is. Wish our former captain was like Nuge.
