Yup. That Myers’ contract will be very attractive to the cap floor teams. They save 5 million on that contract. Plus they can flip Myers at the 2024 TDL for a second or a third rounder. If we want to trade Myers (and clear all his cap without taking any back) this summer we will definitely be able to.

Yup. And our core guys are at the age where, if supported properly, could compete for Cups for a decade. -

Yup. New Beau could be traded too. I wonder if he’s worth a second to some teams? -
Horvat needed speed and quickness. He got faster but not quicker. That’s why Bo struggles defensively. He’s not quick enough to compensate for how he processes. McDonough will play wing. Way less reliant on quickness defensively than centre.

Horvat played with our best guys here, especially on the PP. Since Bo’s been with the Islanders his production has dropped off a lot. We have more high end skill guys for supporting role players, like Bo and Beau, do better when they play with those guys. -

Matthews is great. Love to have won that lottery. Zegras is a selfish punk. He’s never going to be a core piece in a team that is a winner. But he’s going to demand he gets paid like one. -
With draft picks management is picking guys who have (in their scouting department’s view) the highest ceiling. Those picks are the guys we are hoping will come in on cheap contracts in the coming years in supporting roles. If we get lucky and a guy (or two) develop into key core pieces then we can move the aging core guy, or the younger one, for more draft capital. This is what we pretty much did with the Bo trade. We replaced a core piece (Bo) with younger core piece. Plus we added a potential support role guy. Smart moves to make us better now and down the road.

Yup. Send OEL to Robidau Island.

Good OP. Spot on. New management has a lot of Gillis’ successes coming. Buyout OEL. Trade Myers, Garland (full dumperoos) and Boeser (1 mil retention) That clears close to 24 mil off the cap for next season. Lots of money to bring in guys to improve our D and forwards.

The core, sans Bo, is emerging as the leaders. Hughes, Demko, Petey, Miller. -

Are any of the 3C’s you suggested right shot? -

We got a number 2, right shot D to anchor our second pairing for the next 5-7 years for that 2023 first. Our young core is clearly ready to compete right now and for the next 5-7 years. Using the islanders’ pick to bring in Hronek to fill in a much needed piece was a very smart move. -

Yup. Management didn’t see Bo as a key core player. And didn’t want to pay him like one. They took Bo and turned him into what they see as a key core player in Hronek. And they added supporting guys in new Beau and Raty. Good asset management and team building. -

I wonder if we might keep new Beau? He’s only 25 and meshes really well with our top players. -

Hughes ? ? Hronek We have lots of guy to play the bottom pair. If we move on from OEL and Myers this summer maybe the 12 mil cleared in cap can land us a couple D to partner with those two top guys? -

Petey and Miller are a fabulous 1-2 at centre. They are both ppg+ guys. New management made a smart trade. -
