True enough. Loved Horvat -

What? Thank the hockey Gods we moved on from Horfat. Pens won again today. Horfat needs to put up points and not be a big time minus player for his new club if they hope to make the playoffs. He’s been terrible so for on the Island. 50 point pace isn’t good enough, especially when a minus player. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Aidan McDonough to two year contract
Alflives replied to Odd.'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We have our key core in place. It’s good new management is building a group of supporting role players who will compet for those minutes. And if one of those guys matured into a better key core piece than what we have right now, even better. Internal competition is needed in this team. Too many gifted minutes, especially cheating Bo, previously. -
Hogs will for certain be good n the big club next season. We need his “rat” and super skilled play.

IMHAO our new management has identified Miller as the leader (who is also an incredibly good player and key core piece) to teach the younger players. It’s why we kept him over BoHo. -

Yup. Play McDonough. And sign Livingston too. Play him right away with Hughes. Hughes will be a happy guy. He will be saying to himself, “this new guy (who is actually older than me) is my best partner since the IDIOT Benning lost Tanev.” -

Selfish Panarin costs the Rags the game. Pens get the OT winner while Panarin is in the box. Very much hurts the Islanders’ playoff chances. Bo needs to play a lot better so he can help his team instead of hurting them and rely on other teams to help. -

Allvin did say he was confident, after external talks with other clubs. He would be able to move salary. So Boeser and Garland are likely to be traded. Big chance for McDonough to take one of those winger spots. Opportunity knocks for our college signings. -

Bo can be a follower on the Islanders. He might be more comfortable in that role, where other guys take the harder minutes. -

COme on Rags. Beat the Pens. Bo isn’t helping the Islanders’ Win, so they need help from elsewhere to make the playoffs. Yeh! Goal, Kreider! If only Bo could score. -
(Rumour). Jake Livingstone D - NCAA - NHL Availability
Alflives replied to SilentSam's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Have we had a D man who could carry AHL level partners in the hardest minutes before? Imagine what Hughes accomplishes is we kept Tanev. “Screw You Benn[ing]” We can all understand why Miller spoke publicly about the “shocking reset”. Damn that was unforgivable losing Tanev like that. And for Schmid, who cost more! What the heck was Benning thinking? We should try ar3 hardest to get Tanev back. Perfect partner for Hughes. -
Not a lot of time for these older college guys though. We will know pretty quick if we have a player or not. It’s just good we get him to sign with us, regardless. We never know for sure how a guy will do in the NHL. I thought McDonnough was going to go the free agent route. So him putting loyalty ahead of opportunity is a big plus to me. Shows a guy has character. He might only be an average player (in the National League) but he’s got character. And that’s huge to becoming a successful NHLer.

I think Michkov falls to us. We are going to get a phenomenal player!

We all loved Bo, but it was time to move on. We need Petey, Hughes, Demko to take the reins of leadership. Miller was already leading. Miller spoke up against the “shocking reset”. Miller spoke up against playing while guys were sick with Covid”. Miller is a guy the younger players follow. -

Was last night’s game “meaningless” to the Sens? That was a hugely important game for them. They played hard. It was Miller who stood up and took them on. He dragged our group into that game. -

We should NOT trade Miller. Every team is looking for an elite skilled, hard to play against, hyper competitive, ppg player, who fights. I don’t think we can replace what Miller brings quickly enough to make us a playoff team next season or the season after. Miller is at the age and stage of his career where he is the ideal guy to have. He’s got security of contract. He’s clearly happy here raising his kids. So his wife must be happy here too. If we do trade him the return better be through the roof amazing. He’s just so darned good. -

Brock needs to get fit and drop 20 pounds. Hopefully he listens to what Tocchet is saying about how important this off season is to the group. No more “da beauty league” for off season training. Spend the summer with the Twins. They’ll whip him into shape. -

Yup. Barzal is a winger, who drives a line. I’m glad we moved on from Bo though. It’s better we reallocate his cap to a number two, right shot D to anchor our second pairing. Islanders needed Bo, and we needed Hronek. Yzerman knows his young core isn’t good enough, so he needed more firsts. The ideal trade is when all teams are happy with what they got. This is that kind of trade. -
Isn’t McDonnough 24 or soon to be? He’s big and has elite skill. If he can learn to play the Tocchet style I think he will be okay. He starts up here though. Then can hone his skills in the A. We just need to sign guys who can become supporting role players. I see him as having that potential. Very happy he’s choosing us over becoming a Free Agent.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Phillip Di Giuseppe

Msybe if Allvin isn’t able in the summer to get all the support players he’s hoping for PDG will get a spot? He’s been very good with us. -

Nothing against Bo. Just glad we moved on from him and got Hronek, and Raty in return. I see new Beau as a 2024 TDL trade chip that gets us back a third. So we moved Bo for Hronek, Raty. Good deal for us. Islanders are happy too. Best trades are when both teams are happy. -

So why is Bo back to his normal 50-60 point pace now he’s in NY? He’s a 30 goal 20-30 assist centre. He struggles defensively. He’s easy to play against. He’s a great person, obviously, but he’s not a number one centre. -

Yup. Ray Ferraro said it best. Is the experienced veteran player, who has a career year, the guy who puts up that career year, or is he more the player we saw the previous years. Bo is the 50-60 guy we saw over his career. This is an outlier year for him. We’ve already seen him go back to the 50-60 point player now he’s with the Islanders. min glad we chose Miller. He’s a ppg player. When he declines it will be to where Bo is. Bo will decline to a 30-40 point guy.
