Interesting stats about Tryamkin in the Sportsnet article by Thomas Drance http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/canucks-defenceman-tryamkin-exceeding-early-expectations/ : " Desjardins’ diagnosis of Tryamkin as a ‘cycle stopper’ appears to be spot on. In his first five NHL games Tryamkin has managed to throw body checks that effectively separate opponents from the puck at a rate of 4.5 per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 ice time, according to data from Montreal-based player tracking firm Sportlogiq. That would represent an elite rate, if Tryamkin can sustain it. On the other side of the ledger though, Sportlogiq’s data suggests that Tryamkin has been rather limited in transition. Through five games Tryamkin has posted a high neutral zone turnover rate and a very low neutral zone passing success rate, which isn’t uncommon for a young defenceman learning the ropes in the NHL. Tryamkin has also attempted to dump the puck out of the defensive end more than 30 per cent of the time, a number that stands in stark contrast with the rest of the Canucks defence corps, most of whom attempt to transition the puck with possession at a rate well above league average. It’s a discrepancy that may reflect Tryamkin’s relative lack of familiarity with Vancouver’s systems."

The latest interview with Tryamkin after the loss to Blues: http://www.championat.com/hockey/news-2412082-trjamkin-mne-nuzhno-provodit-pjat-shest-silovykh-prijomov-za-match.html . Hm when did they have time to talk to him? " The game was not bad in general. We did not get result, will fight for it in next games. The team tried, put an effort but the result was like this. No one wants to lose. Zero goals for the second game? We are not lucky sometimes... I think that luck is going to come with hard work. I feel very comfortable playing with Dan Hamhuis, he is experienced player, helps me, takes the play to make it easy on me. So far I like everything in Vancouver except the game results. I am trusted more ice time, I am gaining more confidence with each game. This is new league for me with some different hockey. I would like to improve in some aspects of my game. The ice size is small so I would need to add more hits and physical play. I need at least 5-6 hits per game."

Iain MacIntyre @imacVanSun 11h11 hours ago Tryamkin was comfortable Friday. Tonight he looked confident. That's an upgrade. Progression in 3 games has been remarkable.

I watched the game last night in the Rogers Arena and can say that speed in the Avto playoff games last month was definitely higher than the one yesterday But much less hitting in the KHL, that's for sure...

Ben Kuzma @benkuzma 12h12 hours ago Thinking fatigue. Game 64. Never played more than 39 in college. Yeah I was at the game yesterday and Hutton definitely looked tired...

That was the first NHL hit on him and he did not know what to expect. According to KHL rumors about the NHL hits, players are much bigger in the NHL and every hit is very dangerous and is going to destroy you

Tryamkin cross checked Maroon in response to the Maroon's late hit to Tryamkin behind the net earlier...

I think Nikita is getting Willie's trust: he played 17:07 and was second in penalty killing time with 1:01, C. Tanev was first in SH with 1:10. Nikita needs more games to get his confidence back, right now he is adjusting to the new league.
-
Well he just come from the KHL where play in general is much softer and you don't see big hits at all. Tryamkin has been penalized there many times for just been too strong and he obviously needed to adjust his play to the KHL unwritten rules. Now he is in transition period being asked to play much more aggressive style - that is why IMHO he needs Pedan to learn the physical aspect of D play, Dan Hamhuis is just too nice guy in that regard... And Sbisa, another physical defenseman, is injured.
