I still think that New Jersey could be trading partner. They need a sniper. Holz, a young kid, who was thought to take that spot, while already to good for the AHL, isn't yet ready for the big show. He could be a part of a trade, but only if they add a proven defenseman.

On the road again... NY Devils win 11th straight road game. Wow. And: After last years goalie nightmare situation they have soon to many goalies, once Blackwood is healty. Their young tandem is playing great, Vanecek has 11 wins in 14 games and Schmid is 5-0-0. And there is Daws waiting in the AHL, too. I expect a Blackwood on the market soon.

Man! Look at the Devils and their advanced stats. Second youngest team in the NHL and strong through the middle: Centers, Defenders and Goalies. And as everybody knows Wingers are the easiest position to upgrade. It looks like the beginning of a Dynastie. Scary good.

My home club Zurich Lions has signed Frenchman Alexandre Texier from Columbus, who wants to be near his family who lives in Grenoble.

New Jersey have all their younger core players signed with really reasonable contracts, it will be interesting if this will work out with Bratt too.

The cap should be tax adjusted, it should be a post tax cap and not a pre tax cap.

Bad trade for Florida? I don't think so. I think in the long run Florida won this by a mile. They are getting younger and tougher with MT, they are moving older players with expiring contracts. And the new contract for MT isn't that much if you consider the inflation we actually have.

25y old Malgin is back in Toronto for 1year/750K. Last two years he played in Zurich (same club where Austin Matthews played) as a ppg Player. He had also 5g and 12p in 8 games with Switzerland at this years WC. He is small but has hands, wheels and eyes to be an offensive threat as Center and can drive the pp. But if they play him as 4 line winger like the last time in Toronto then it will not work.

Instead of a regular season PPG player in Gaudreau, the Devils got a play off PPG player in Palat. Well done, Devils!

Crazy trade. Or just desperate?

I'm following Nino since his start. He's a good player if he plays not more than 15 minutes per game. If he's overplayed then he falls in hole after three weeks, it happened every time when he had played 20 min/game, three weeks of glory and then he fell from a cliff. I think he just needs to have fresh legs to be explosive, to play that kind of exhausting forechecking style that he's doing. So if his next Coach limits him to 13 - 15 minutes, he will have a good 2RW/LW who makes 20-25g and also 20-25a. Otherwise, well, he may be disappointed from time to time.

Fun fact: Actual Top Scorer at Worlds is Denis Malgin, a Player that Toronto traded for but never gave him a real chance. ;-)
