  1. Troy - Die fantastischen Vier, Germany
  2. You didn't catch what I was talking about, did you?
  3. I would take him to a tour through all the bars I know, I think he puts to much pressure on himself. Give the kid a break, he needs a special confidence boost. A paradoxical intention with a lot of beer and party sometimes help to top athletes. They are human and not machines and they have to accepte that they never will be perfect. A good hangover can do wonder sometimes to people who want to be perfect. That's the way we do it in Switzerland.
  4. After 4 games Baertschi and Horvat have positive +/-numbers, they are very solid in the own end, better than last year. Maybe they develop into a great two way combo and it looks like it's what WD wants them to be. Roedin should fit with them well, he isn't soft like some suggest and he wasn't the MVP in Sweden last year for nothing. You are not getting MVP honors in any league if you are an one dimensional player.
  5. Virtanen with those two is a nice skilled third line and would allow to dress a gritty second line: 2: Sutter - Horvat - Hansen 3: Baertschi- Granlund - Virtanen or more balanced 2: Baertschi - Horvat - Hansen 3: Granlund - Sutter - Virtanen It looks like these 6 Players will make these two lines in any order with Rodin starting as 13F or as injured one.
  6. It's great that they plan to to take 8 dmen on the 23 man roster. After last year, when some played by, let's be honest, played by default, this year there will be some healthy competition.
  7. Looks like a young Eddie Shore. edit: Syl Apps?
  8. This is really a nice piece, AAC. Does Sven have a problem with pressure? No, I don't think so. He has high expectations about himself so if others have too it's nothing special for him, imo. There is a story from the custodian of the portland winterhawks who said he often had to stay longer at work because one player stayed in the arena doing extra work on the ice after everbody else left, the player was Sven. Losing the coaches trust while trying returning from a mean injury, broken ribs from his first game with the swiss national team against russia, was the tough situation for him. He found himself in a fourth line with players who hadn't the skill to play with him. But after all I had to say this experience maybe help him to devolop in that skilled two way player he became. I really like the way he plays now.
  9. Here in Switzerland is a lot of hope that Nico Hischier will become that elite Center we miss for so long. Will make first NA steps in Halifax with the Mooseheads, plays a Datsyuk two-way style. I expect him to climb numbers this year because Switzerland isn't that much on the radar. Nolan is a lock, but from #2 till #8 everything is possible for him.
  10. Well, Granlund has that potential and WD knows it. But he has to learn the d-side of the game, too. He get that 4th-line treatment to learn how to win face-offs and all the rest that complete players do. There is no room for offensive players only with the Canucks anymore, thats why Vrbata was demoted and McCann traded. A team harder to play against means every player plays solid in all zones of the game. But in preseason it would like to see some combinations of Baertschi-Granlund-Sutter/Roedin. This has second line potential and Horvat can develop in a more defensive role with Burrows/Etem-Horvat-Hansen/Virtanen.
  11. No problem w The Sedins already told they have no problem to step back to second line if time has come. So yes, they may play together for many years to come, another three years as first line and then two or three on the second. In Sweden they are called DHL Line (Daniel, Hank and Loui), known for fast goal delivery. I'm thrilled, really. Like it.
  12. What if Bo has a more defensive part? Sedin Sedin Sutter Bear Granlund Roedin/UFA Etem Bo Hansen Burrows Gaunce Dorsett
  13. With the shiny golden helmet for the team topscorer..had a decent career in switzerland, like so many others.
  14. He had exactly the same equipment like Hanson, from helmet to skates. Only the number on the shirt tells you who it is.
  15. With a big smile in the face, yes, he's wearing the golden helmet for the teams top scorer. Had a great year in .. easy guessable.. in Zurich. The second year we didn't hardly recommend him, had only 5 goals.
  16. Yes! Glen Hanlon? No, #30, Gary Bromley??
  17. My home town is in Switzerland as shows my location. Ali fought in Zurich against Blin in 1971, his only fight in Switzerland. Plavsic made the ZSC Zurich Lions champions in 2000, see post above. And guess who always ate two hot dogs before he played or went to the gym?
  18. Tripple Yes! And now one without a picture: In the very first hockey game I saw live he made the shutout winner, it was a playoff quarterfinal and my hometown team defeated the favourite. It was a legendary game because we were a losing team for a long time those times. It was in a legendary bowl, indeed Muhamed Ali was boxing there a few years before. And the player was a legend too, I was looking for a picture where he eats his loved hot dogs but I could'nt find one.
  19. A few buildings in a narrow valley, a windy stadium that is cold as the pole. Sometimes it is even foggy inside. But the fans are fanatic like italian soccer fans, they speak italian too so that is the reason maybe. Stars in your village, that's lockout from the european view.
  20. Now he's behind the bench in a french speaking smalltown, but in 2000 he scored the winner in the final playoff game and made my hometeam champion.
