  1. She must be wearing 4" high heels then .......
  2. The talking heads in the Kraken fanbase seem to be zeroing in on MacEwen. 3 seasons with NHL experience totalling 55 games ... big body ... can play up and down the lineup .. hits, and can drop 'em when necessary. Would slot right into their 4th line. That's their reasoning
  3. I'd give it to Petey and Hughes - they drive the bus. But probably will be Miller and Schmidt. In 3 years Podz will have an "A" when our Russian contingent has grown
  4. My 2 cents..... Schmidt and Edler were not a good fit due to their playing styles. Nate is a "skate it out of the zone" transitioner, while Alex is a "pass first" zone exiter. As was Tanev, which is what made that pairing so effective. And even prior, when Stecher had his season with Edler, he was new to the NHL so was a passer, rather than the skater he subsequently became. McNabb, Nate's Vegas partner, was also a skater first, passer second, which is what made that pairing work. So I don't think Schmidt is the ideal partner for Juolevi, who is also a pass firster (although he can, and does, from time to time skate it out of the zone). I'm not sure, either, if Myers is the ideal partner for Juolevi, although the did seem to gell when OJ got his limited ice time But getting back to Schmidt, the obvious pairing is with Rathbone. He (Nate) isn't physical enough to pair with Hughes, but Rathbone doesn't need so much protection. I dont recall how much Myers played with Hughes, but their playing styles are similar - both can skate it out, and their passes connect about 33% of the time (with Hughes, another 33% are icings, and with Myers, his second 33% are to the opposition). And Myers can be physical, as referees will attest to. If only Hughes could play right D .............
  5. So we draft Kostenko .... Russian machine never breaks https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2019/12/02/the-story-behind-alex-ovechkins-quote-russian-machine-never-breaks/
  6. That makes too much sense for it to work
  7. Someone better versed in the minutiae of the ED and contract buyout rules might know the answer to a question that is bugging me .... The Kraken now exist, so they can sign players to contracts (and have already done so) The Wild have bought out Suter and Parise Are these two now completely free agents, with terminated contracts, or are they still Wild "pending UFAs" until the Free Agency date? If Seattle agree to terms with, say, Suter now, is that their pick from the Wild, although he is no longer under contract to them? Anyone know?
  8. Kraken fanbase social media is rife with speculation ofc. Popular theme is for them to select Price, then flip him back to Montreal with 50% retained in exchange for a prospect and a couple of high picks. Gives Montreal some cap room, and gets Kraken some assets. Unclear whether this circumvents any expansion rule, but if so, then find a 3rd party to dance with like Arizona or Detroit.
  9. Yeah. - 6'3", 206 lbs. 549 games, 0.21 Points per game, 1103 hits, 774 blocked shots . Dime a dozen indeed
  10. But why wouldn't they just wait another week until Rafferty becomes a UFA and just sign him then when he ceases to be Canucks property? That way they can take another player off Vancouver like Lind or MacEwen. They'll be sending about a dozen players to their shared farm team this winter and will need 20 to 25 next year in Palm Springs so they need extra bodies too. Interestingly there were 3 UFAs selected by Vegas, as result of negotiated deals, that signed with other teams. Vegas picked up a couple of other players and draft picks as inducement. (Carolina, Islanders and Winnipeg thought highly enough of their rosters to keep them largely intact ... not a problem for us) I don't think Vegas selected any other UFAs and signed them .. why would they if they were coming onto the market a few days later?
  11. MacEwen was being groomed as a Center before his Canucks call-up. AHL don't keep face-off stats, but the Comets' broadcast team did keep informal stats and would often give them out towards the end of a game, but nothing published. As an example, I remember in one of this season's early games after 2 periods they said that Kole Lind was 7 for 9 in the face off circle, when he too was being groomed as a center.
  12. His English is pretty good. - there was a clip from a sports gameshow that was posted here a few weeks ago where he was interviewing contestants in English
  13. Isn't scoring an own goal in your first game equivalent to shooting yourself in the foot?
  14. Sexual assault charges against underage girls. Scroll down in this article ... https://www.saltwire.com/halifax/sports/hockey/the-skate-jake-train-is-at-the-station-479198/
  15. Cap management isn't my area of expertise, but I was going on articles such as ...... https://canucksarmy.com/2021/04/20/tight-against-cap-how-can-vancouver-canucks-improve-offseason/ https://theathletic.com/2615992/2021/05/27/drance-why-the-canucks-must-ride-out-their-cap-issues-this-offseason-with-an-eye-toward-the-future/ https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2021/05/vancouver-canucks-will-consider-buyouts-this-offseason.html https://www.nucksmisconduct.com/2021/3/31/22359930/vancouver-canucks-cap-space-2021-22
  16. Especially after losing millions in his failed restaurant chain (for those who don't follow LE, he is principal shareholder in a Swedish restaurant chain that lost its liquor licence after the COO was arrested, and has been losing millions yearly since. Probably a reason he hasn't just retired as his many detractors here want him to do)
  17. He has to clear cap space. He has said that the 9th is in play (not specifically, but when asked if it is on the table, said "everything is in play"). Using the 9th to acquire a D or a "hefty" forward does nothing but add to the cap problem. A swap of draft picks does nothing to help the cap either. If in play, it can realistically only be with Seattle to entice them to take cap off our hands.
  18. If they pick an RFA then compensation rules kick in as if he were offer-sheeted, whether signed or not - so that's a good outcome for us *compensation based on the value of the expiring contract, I believe
  19. I still think it's our 9th and a prospect for them to take Loui. JB needs the cap space for a D that can play now, not one that can play in 3 years
  20. Seconded As well, though, some of that talent is high-priced. Seattle has to iive under the cap too
  21. I don't know how wealthy the owners are, but I bet they'd gladly give up a player in exchange for over $21 million
  22. If the Emerald City Hockey guys know anything, they say it'll be Virtanen. BPA
  23. Ah the good old days .......
