  1. Here's another one - Rangers, this time..... https://www.blueshirtbanter.com/2021/6/18/22533580/nhl-the-new-york-rangers-should-offer-sheet-elias-pettersson-jack-eichel
  2. Here's the excerpt....... Finally, there’s Bailey, who only played three games before a hit from behind by Milan Lucic caused a shoulder injury that ended his season. It’s truly unfortunate, because Bailey was looking great before his injury. It honestly looked like the 25-year-old Bailey had taken a step forward in his game after 47 points in 53 games in the AHL last season. His 68.42% corsi was best on the Canucks, albeit in a very small sample size. The Canucks out-attempted their opponents 26-to-12 with Bailey on the ice at 5-on-5 and out-chanced them 13-to-4.
  3. Flyers thinking of offer-sheeting Petey? https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2021/6/17/22536138/the-flyers-should-take-a-crack-at-offer-sheeting-elias-pettersson-offseason-philadelphia-hockey
  4. Interesting piece on Clarke by one of the Seattle fan sites. Comparing him to Makar ...
  5. Similar to Utunen. If he were a RHD he'd likely slot right onto the big team this fall, but manning the left side, he is probably 5 or 6 on the depth chart. His time in Finland didn't hurt him, other than he flew under the radar for most of the 2 seasons. Utica would have made more sense if he has NHL aspirations.
  6. If Seattle has any aspirations to assign 10 to 15 AHLers to Abbotsford for their inaugural season, while their Palm Springs arena is getting built, they will eschew any offer sheets to any Vancouver players. Any California AHL team would also be ok for them, but all have full rosters. Only the Canucks have a depleted AHL roster after sharing last season with the Blues, who might be a candidate for Seattle to share, but they will be in Springfield Mass., not quite as convenient as Abbotsford would be. There is some chatter on the Kraken boards about Abbotsford I think the Canucks and the Kraken are going to "play nice" with each other this inaugural season
  7. It wasn't defence that cost us the Vegas series. We lost 4 times (duh) but in 3 of these we were shut out. It was lack of offence. (And Toffoli just missed the first game we were shut out - he wasn't a difference maker in the other 2)
  8. Seattle will be looking for a home for a season for their 10 to 15 AHL players (the Palm Springs arena won't be ready before the 2022-23 season). Abbotsford makes a lot of sense (much like Vegas parked about a dozen players in the Chicago Wolves AHL franchise - St Louis - their first year)
  9. Actually, their blueberry and cranberry operations are under the Golden Eagle name But I like mushrooms Fraser Valley Mushrooms has a nice ring to it
  10. I like that. Jurmo and our 2021 first to New Jersey for Jack Hughes?
  11. Maybe I just have too many fond memories of his rookie AHL season. That stretch of 11 (or was it 9 - can't remember now) when he and Teves weren't scored on and racked up +13 in fewer games. When he took over the 1st unit PowerPlay after Juolevi's injury and it blossomed. Those memories. He was always the first to acknowledge that his vision maybe did impede him, that he had to get better defensively, and that he had to be more physical. I agree that one game he did look like a deer caught in the headlights, but the whole team sucked those few games - had sqeaked by Montreal game before 6 -5 and lost the following game 5 - 2. But that game we were outshot 42 -17. Rafferty's time on ice stats are interesting ... 4:34 in the 1st, 1:56 in the 2nd, and 7:28 in the 3rd (included 1:24 shorthanded while killing off Myers major). Chatfield didn't play the 2nd or 3rd periods (injured in the 1st, iirc) which put a huge burden on the 2 remaining rhd's Anyway - I hope Benning resigns him, even if only for depth in Abbotsford.
  12. He wasn't atrocious. It was a 7 - 3 loss to Montreal. Rafferty was on the ice for 3 goals against (one of them a PP goal) and 1 for, for a net -1 rating. Schmidt (-4) was his partner on 2 against, Myers for the 3rd goal against (as an aside, he got his assist on Sutter's 3rd period goal, as did Myers, who wasn't even on the ice per the scorecard - but obviously was, see the clip below) Similar stats to Hoglander, 1 assist but 3 goals against, but for a -2. In your opinion, was Hogz "atrocious" too? https://www.nhl.com/video/sutter-roofs-backhand/t-320498732/c-7297576
  13. No - you've got a point there. A 3rd line of Podz - Miller - Virtanen might be awesome.
  14. What's the status with Karlsson and Costmar? Linus played center a lot, although this past season I believe he was mostly a winger.
  15. That's my take too. Baer will help any team get into the playoffs, but will disappear during the run. Plenty of players fit that description. It's the ones who elevate their games during the playoff run that are valuable. But for the right club, pressing to play post-season, he might be a fit. I hope so.
  16. Maybe he's miffed that Eriksson's assignment to Abbotsford as Captain took the "C" opportunity away from him? (Just spitballing here)
  17. Rafferty will be next to jump ship. One of Gustafson's "special assignments" should be to get Jim a calendar and a clock. Seems he "ran out of time" again
  18. Didn't he stay and sign to play in Europe at the Canucks' suggestion and with their blessing? Correction: I believe he signed for 2 years before he was drafted. May have been posted before, but I hadn't seen it ....... https://thehockeywriters.com/joni-jurmo-2020-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/
  19. For sure, too, it'll be easier to assign vets there for conditioning purposes for a game or two after injuries. Imagine the excitement if Petey or Hogz had a couple of games there - or if Podz started his NA career with 2 Abbotsford games!!
  20. Ah - I had thought he was an RFA. So Bailey, Chatfield and Teves are all in a similar position. Does that G6 designation (non-requisite # games) simply mean that Seattle can't talk to him in their exclusive 3 day window, or does it have other significance? I found a good explanation in the Red Wings website..... Group 6 (Unrestricted) Free AgentsAny player 25 or older with at least three professional seasons who has not played in at least 80 NHL games (28 for goalies) becomes a UFA at the end of his contract. For this part, the definition of a professional season is pretty lenient. 11 games for 18-19 year olds and just one game played anywhere professionally counts for anybody over 20. It's nearly an unnecessary definition, since a guy with that much experience who is obviously not that wanted by the team isn't likely to draw the kind of salary which would bring draft pick compensation in, but it's a nice bit of a catch-all just to keep teams from being dicks to people like that.
  21. We already have one in the system - Brogan Rafferty ...... but apparently he pissed in Green's swimming pool, or something. Best thing for his career would be for Benning not to qualify him, and for Seattle to sign him.
  22. Rathbone's the one who'd have grounds to sulk. You can't do much with 3 seconds of powerplay
  23. I could see Seattle giving him a 1 year league minimum "show me" contract. IMO they could do a lot worse. Would be a useful depth player for them.
  24. And we can add a Rathbone howitzer and a Gadjovich screen and tip to that repertoire as well
  25. Duh - stupid me. That's what comes of copying a link, then doing other things for an hour before pasting, during which time I forgot who the link was about !!!
