  1. Both have been revelations in Utica this season. Lockwood's speed is insane ... we all thought that Bailey was fast, but being bigger, he took a couple of strides to get up to speed. Lockwood is like Bure - pushes off and already is at top speed. Loves to hit, too. Gadjovich lives in that 1 foot strip just outside the blue paint. Fantastic hands for a big guy. He and Rathbone worked miracles what with Rathbone's heavy slapshot and Jonah tipping in, or collecting the rebounds. Is a definite net presence on the powerplay, great screening instincts It will be very interesting to see how their game translates into the NHL
  2. For sure, though, a dressing room that has Miller, Myers, Schmidt, Beagle, Bo and, maybe, Sutter, wouldn't stand for any guff that apparently was allowed to fester in New York. Pair him with Juolevi .... you don't get much more Nordic/Aryan looking than a Finn
  3. He (Jasek) might be an attractive candidate for the Kraken. Robert Kron is their Director of Amateur Scouting, and with both being Czech will surely know of him
  4. Absolutely!! And when I am in my cups I pull out the foto and whine to my buddies that if she hadn't left me, right now I would be freezing my butt off in a croft on some Scottish island moaning about the unreliability of dial-up internet connections. It's not always greener on the other side!!!
  5. I'd protect Motte, but what do I know? Premium penalty killer, good speed, good hands, hits, can play up and down the line. If he's exposed, he's taken. Are we sure Lind and Gadjovich are better alternatives than Motte?
  6. The same way that Bailey is rated higher than Lind or Gadjovich. Matured earlier, showed more, better pedigree. We dont even know if Gadjovich has adequate enough foot speed to play in the NHL. All this talk of "must protect him" amuses me. No way Seattle picks a totally unknown quantity... and it's not as though they are having to staff a farm team this winter, they will start their Palm Springs team for the 2022-23 season, and this winter will disperse their prospects throughout the other AHL teams, much like Vegas did their early years
  7. If we qualify Rafferty and Bailey, Kraken are much more likely to take one of them than Lind, Gadjovich or Motte. Either would check more than one of their boxes, I reckon (Disclaimer: ofc I am biased as I'd love to see either play in Palm Springs)
  8. That's why St Louis playoffs start Monday - they need to wait until after Sunday so that they too can expand their rosters
  9. New wrinkle. - those refs are giving us powerplays, knowing how inept we are on It
  10. Didn't realize they were playing today ..... Won 1 - 0 vs Rochester on a goal by Curtis McKenzie, assisted by Teves and Alexandrov. Fitzpatrick with the shutout
  11. Lighten up - it's a long running joke that's been going on now forever it seems. No-one is serious..... Podz is what size he is, nothing we say here can make him any taller or heavier (or shorter or lighter)
  12. Utica ..... a city I have never been to, and yet I feel that I know so many of you who cheered on our Comets. Watching as the camera panned round the crowd during stoppages, seeing the kids hamming it up for us, seeing the vets just look at the camera and give a thumbs up, the energy and enthusiasm of the cheerleaders, the promotional giveaways and, yes, the kiss-cam, I feel like you are family. Family I will miss, 'cos there will never be a fan base as engaged as you guys are. Best of luck with the next chapter in your story (and wouldn't it be awesome if we met in the finals!!!)
  13. That was his draft year. SKA St Petersburg has him on their roster this year at 6'3" and 203 lbs (192 cms and 92 kilos)
  14. https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/courier-archive/news/former-canuck-igor-larionov-describes-vasili-podkolzin-as-a-young-mark-messier-3114278
  15. The Messier he played against, so the Oilers/Rangers edition, I'm guessing.
  16. But we see far more than Green does. We see the plays develop, and finish, he's peering under Graovac's or McEwen's armpits to catch a glimpse of what's happening
  17. Is Podz kneeling in this foto? Everyone but Zernov looks taller, or is hunched over. 6' 3" eh?
  18. If you listen to Green's pregame, with the condensed final games' schedule they were anticipating some injuries that didn't happen.
  19. Only 10 of the 31 GMs has longer tenure than Benning (and one of those by just a month - Calgary) Hardly a rookie GM when his contract was extended. Nor is it uncommon for a team to promote its farm team Coach to be the big team's coach. I'm neutral on whether Green should be retained, and vacillate on whether JB is doing - or not doing - a good job. But the Aquilinis have been nothing but a force for good for this franchise and it can't have been easy for them to grin and bear it when Bettman told them in March they would lose between US $50 and $75 million this season. I just want to record my appreciation for them for staying the course
  20. I've noticed that Rathbone, like Hughes - and Juolevi - puts a lot of zip in his passes. Is that what young D are taught now? Or is it just a young man, strong wrists thing? I don't remember, but were Edler's passes like that a few years ago? I do know, though, that many of Edler's, Myers' and Schmidt's flabby passes are now picked off. I've joked elsewhere that Hughes leads all NHL defensemen in icings, his slapshot passes being so hard for a journeyman forward to collect and control. Rathbone's are of a similar ilk. As we improve our middle six skill level, these passes are going to become game changers
