  1. In a joint statement, Devils President Jake Reynolds and Devils Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald, expressed their excitement surrounding the new partnership: “After multiple discussions and evaluating the options available for the future of our American Hockey League franchise, we have agreed to partner with local operating group Mohawk Valley Garden in Utica, NY, led by Comets President Robert Esche, to relocate our AHL franchise starting with the 2021-22 season. We are pleased to announce that this is a ten-year partnership which establishes a mutual commitment between our organization and the city of Utica. We look forward to creating new memories for the fans as the next generation of Devils’ stars develop their professional careers at the Adirondack Bank Center. Working with Robert and his team will be an exciting opportunity as we look to build upon the passion and enthusiasm that they’ve created in making Utica one of the top markets in the AHL.” The organization will remain the Utica Comets, with jersey designs and colors to be revealed later this year. Throughout the process, both parties focused on the Utica community while introducing a new NHL partner into the City; the main component to that was ensuring that the team would still be called the Utica Comets.
  2. I believe that Saskatoon lobbied quite hard for the Heat, but travel for the other AHL teams was always going to be an issue, changing flights every trip. Vancouver direct (then coach to Abbotsford) was always going to be preferable
  3. I'd like for us to play Rafferty in 5 of the remaining games to see just what we have. He's a UFA at the end of this season and the question will be whether to resign him or just let him walk. He's played all of 3 NHL games. But was an AHL all-star last year. His one game this year (Jan 21, vs Montreal - a 7 -3 loss that saw 2 MTL shorties) he was on the ice for 3 goals against (one of them one of the shorthanded goals) and one for, so was -1 on the night. Hasn't played since. His partner that night was Schmidt, on the ice for 4 goals against, and a -3 (one against was a MTL powerplay goal, doesn't count in the +/- stats). Unfairly, I think, Rafferty was made the scapegoat for that loss
  4. Yeah - that's why he has 62 assists to his 31 goals - he'll never pass Matthews that way
  5. Voice recognition technology ofc is still in its infancy.......
  6. And if that rule were to be obeyed, why isn't it "wierd"
  7. I remember one exercise at school when the English teacher asked us to draw a phyti Stumped us all ph = f as in philosophy y = i as in cynical ti = sh as in fiction Fish, ofc, was the answer
  8. And you can add bough, dough and borough for 3 more different pronunciations of the ough combination (and if you are Scottish, add lough which has the same 'awe' sound as in cough, but a different ending)
  9. The one I always have fun with when I see it is complimentary instead of complementary As in .... Hoglander is a great complimentary player for Horvat ...... to which I reply "yes, I have noticed that he praises Bo a lot in these interviews" Rush to post (without reading first) imo is the #1 reason Spellcheck won't pick up the word-completion mistakes, only reading before hitting "submit" can pick many up Also, speech to text can distort things (I have seen some gibberish after I have tried that) (The other one is reigns instead of reins ...as in: "Hughes is taking the reigns this season". Really? Does Green know?)
  10. He'll sign a cheap "show me" contract with The Kraken
  11. Quite a few could avail themselves of Kathy McLlwain's teaching ..... Lind, Gadjovich, Podkolzin With Bo, I think it was almost a whole summer's work, so a simple 1 or 2 weeks around training camp prolly wouldn't accomplish much
  12. I liked Chris Faber's "The General" (first post, by Vintage, on p 318)
  13. Didn't even know this game was on - thought it was covid-postponed Now 3 - 3, Lockwood with an apple Hofer (St Louis) in goal
  14. I'd go with Archie - top 5 in almost every category. With the bias of recency, Boucher will garner a lot of votes (Saucerman with the best name, though .... and beard)
  15. 6 pretty good PMDs among that group and not too shabby defensively either .... ofc it won't happen, Green isn't that imaginative
  16. That's exactly what I'd do. So what if our Defense looks like....... Hughes - Hamonic Rathbone - Chatfield Juolevi - Rafferty Brisebois - Sautner Would certainly see what we have in them
  17. Too young for this years draft, but here are a couple to look out for in future years - maybe worth a tank?
  18. https://www.space.com/spacex-starlink-25-satellite-mission-launch-rocket-landing (The NASA video clip is about 10 mins long, but I found it fascinating - but then, I am such a nerd anyway)
  19. Not forgetting Woo. He and Rathbone sure looked awesome as a pairing in their short time together in Utica
  20. It's not the refs fault that the Canucks can't score on a powerplay. We had our chances
  21. This long change thing - is it cos our D zone is furthest from our benches for that 2nd period? And if so, isn't it the same for the other team too - their D zone is furthest from their benches? Am I missing something?
