  1. Anyone else getting the vibe that this might have been Edler's last game as a Canuck? I think he'll be rested tomorrow and Rathbone will draw in, and for sure he won't give up that slot easily. Green knows it, and judging by the number of shots Edler had, he knows it too (I guess Hoglander didn't get the memo). The clincher would have been if Edler had seen time on the PP to get that 100th goal
  2. He's miked up with Baumgartner - and waiting instructions in what to do
  3. Edler hasn't scored in 17 months - Hoagie scored last week. My money is on Hogz
  4. Nah - Tomorrow you'll see Rathbone get his 1st with a 100 mph slapper. That'll be a feel-good moment
  5. If we're up 5 -1 with 2 minutes left, will we see Edmonton pull their goalie to give Edler an EN goal for his 100th? "When the sun rises in the west ......." (ASOIAF, book 1)
  6. So Brown coaches the first PP unit to pass ad nauseum and the second PP unit to shoot as soon as the puck is on their sticks? Interesting
  7. Ah. CDC people. My mistake. I inferred the people were such as Faber or Dhaliwal, or the Observer-Dispatch. Informed people. My apologies for jumping all over your post ..... now it makes sense in some context
  8. I reckon the Highmore - Graovac - Hawryluk line is going to see a lot of McDavid. Prolly our fastest line to keep up (Lockwood, if here, and Bailey, if healthy, sure would be nice to have). Not sure Bo's line with Lind on it is going to get the the heavy match-up minutes. Scoring has been so thin lately that they might be getting leaned on for offense
  9. Who did? I heard nothing to that effect? @Ray_Cathode? @UticaHockey? You hear anything?
  10. He's drooling over Matvei Michkov, and planning next seasons tank to get him in the 2022 draft . See ..... https://www.si.com/hockey/news/u-18-world-championship-roundup-round-robin-recap
  11. I was hoping that he would come over this summer and play for Utica/wherever next season Ah well. Good luck in the SHL, it might even be a better developmental league than the AHL for Swedes I'll still keep my avatar, though
  12. Pearson spreading himself a bit thin on PP2 ... is that written into his contract?
  13. His career numbers aren't all bad ..... 73 games 69 hits 21 blocked shots 8 giveaways 24 takeaways 9 goals 2 assists 7 penalties Zero +/- Not bad for a 7th round bottom 6 grinder Oh, and he has size too .... 6'5" and 208 lbs (And boundless energy - per NHL stats averages 51.56 TOI/GP .... that stat must be mislabeled, altho the legend says "time on ice per game played")
  14. Maybe the bubble is who we are, and this year is an anomaly?
  15. This might be a chance for Graovac to grab and hold on to that 4C slot. He hasn't shown much at the the NHL level for us so far but was playing lights out for the Moose on his loan there. He's a UFA this year so will be playing for a contract
  16. Before season's end I'd like to see a handful of games with Rafferty partnering Hughes. We assume that the ideal partner would be a defensively minded, tough, yet somewhat mobile player, but what if the ideal is actually another top flight puck moving defenseman? Forecheckers couldn't double team either for fear that the other would quickly initiate a counter attack. Worth a look anyway. And Rafferty does have good wheels. (A bit dated now, given that he's played 1 game in 12 months or so, but still a good read ...........) https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/canucks-hockey/the-farmhouse-brogan-rafferty-is-killing-it-with-the-utica-comets-2078423
  17. Not the best outing for Mikey today. His Comets lost 5-2 to Syracuse. Focht and Wesley (St L) the 2 goal scorers. Tough day for Brisebois and Woo as well ... Beezer on for 4 goals against, Woo for 3
  18. He was a powerplay stud in Utica - give him a look on the PP and he'll excel
  19. Would be to match. My Russian source says that in Ekaterinburg a US$ 1 million salary (his 20-21 contract) would net around $850k after Agents fees, Federal, Oblast and City taxes. Gross that up here with Agent's fees, Canadian Federal, BC and Vancouver taxes, escrow and the covid salary surrender and we are around $3.3 million. (My accountant source here wasn't sure to what extent each US state and the IRS takes a bite out of pro-rated salary, but generally would be less than Canadian tax rate and player would get a tax credit for US taxes paid on total income .... so end result would be about the same)
  20. Ah, but who would he shoot? (Sorry - today is dark humour day, first Sunday in May)
