  1. Would love ro see Motte and Hoglander as a PK pair. - would be reminiscent of Bure and Courtnall
  2. Honestly, would Rathbone and Rafferty be any worse than Edler and Myers?
  3. I wonder if they will give Podz an "A" in the national team, recognizing that he is the leader of the young turks
  4. Meh. Some posters think he isn't worth resigning, the grass is always greener Some think he is a 6/7/8 depth guy Some think he has top 4 potential Some think, that paired with Hughes, Canucks might have the most dynamic D pairing in the league for the next 5 years Who really knows?
  5. Yeah. - I'm a midlife convert to hockey. Came over to Canada from the UK in 77, to Toronto, and got caught up in the 1978 hype of Salming's eye injury, Turnbull's emergence as a bona-fide defense stud, the MacDonald - Sittler - Williams magic etc. After coming here in 82 it took a couple of years to cleanse the maple leaf from off my sweater before I fully embraced the Sundstroms, Tantis and Skrikos of the west coast So while I consider myself an "Old Timer", not in hockey years
  6. And will there be a Madison Bowey sighting? Rathbone and Bowey would need the paper transaction to move from the Taxi squad to the roster, and that would mean moving 2 from the active roster to the squad. Bowey could replace Chatfield as both are right Ds, but realistically to make room for Rathbone it would be Juolevi who would move and I can't see that happening. Of course a forward could be taxied (Michaelis?) I would imagine there is some discussion around resting Edler in the back-to-backs which might give Rathbone a look, but he would need to be assigned to the roster first It may be that Bowey was acquired just to have a defenseman who met the expansion criteria, allowing us to protect Myers, Schmidt and Juolevi, and we might never see Madison in a Canucks sweater
  7. What a bummer for the kid, though. Gets to dress for his first ever NHL game, the stuff memories are made of (even though he is just going to be gatekeeper) .... must have been excited as all get go ..................................................... then they mis-spell his name
  8. With me it's love at first sight, the sky's the limit, until disappointment and let downs start happening. I started off in these boards being a huge Sanguinetti fan, then Sbisa and Vey, and, yes, even Pouliot. (To my credit, I never did get enamoured about Megna or Chaput) but I still think poor Loui gets a bum rap on these boards
  9. We're sure putting a lot of expectation on Lind. 120 AHL games. 24 goals of which 10 were on the powerplay. He's not going to get 1st unit PP minutes, so what can he accomplish after the big unit has consumed 95 of the 120 seconds?
  10. Exactly. Let's give him 30 games and 30 SOGs and see if his shot can ovempower NHL goalies, before we pass judgement
  11. Exactly. - bring back that team that defeated Toronto 1st game back .... Michaelis, Graovac, Brisebois, Chatfield and Motte to replace Roussel
  12. Well, that 4 pointer killed us. We missed getting a win and Habs didn't. Ah well, play Lind and Rathbone now.
  13. Lind isn't getting a look so long as playoff hopes are alive, unless 2 or 3 injuries. You don't throw a rookie in to his 1st NHL game in that pressure situation
  14. That's why he was on the 1st unit PP for Utica last season, until his injury
  15. In Jake's pregame presser he said he still hadn't arrived at the rink when Demko was stretchered/helped/crawled/limped/skated off
  16. We're sharing Utica with the Blues. They have 2 goalie prospects there and we have Kielly. Now we have 2 too Crease getting a bit crowded
  17. Answering my own question, it's a long read but really enlightening (poor Tavares and McDavid!!!) ..... https://hockey-graphs.com/2019/01/08/how-much-do-nhl-players-really-make-part-2-taxes/
