  1. I think Gaud's is pretty wicked, but the "pound for pound" qualifier stacked the deck j. Petey's favour. Edler isnt too shabby either
  2. I was referring just to his taking an 8 on the Thursday on the opening par 4
  3. I just hope he's not another BoSan Some great seasons in the AHL ...... 9 goals and 29 assists in 61 games for the Hartford Wolfpack 10 and 40 in 60 games for Charlotte 16 and 24 in 41 for Utica, followed by a great playoff run with 3 and 11 in 23 games But a bit of a bust in the NHL ... 2 goals and 4 assists in 45 games But he had size, and had wheels. Was a first round pick by the Rangers. Here's Elite Prospects take on him then: (sound familiar?) Sanguinetti is an offensive-minded defenseman with good vision and puck-moving ability. Likes to use his terrific speed to join the rush. Without the puck, Sanguinetti is not overly physical, but has a good reach. However, there is room for improvement defensively.
  4. Channeling his inner MacIlroy at the Open at Royal Portrush maybe?
  5. AHL closed the 19/20 season, not just a pause. If and when it reopens will be in the fall/ winter for the 2020/21 season My thought was that we might bring Hogz over just to soak up the NHL atmosphere, practice with the team, not necessarily to play a game, although he would be eligible for the taxi squad, no?
  6. Sure, but for every Larianov and Bure there's a Koltzov and Shirokov. (But I guess you could say, too, that for every Pettersson and Hughes there's a White and Ellington)
  7. Will Hogz be on the charter plane that brings Marky & Petey back for the season resumption?
  8. TSN interview, Jan 21, 2020 Utica Comets head coach Trent Cull says Brogan Rafferty has been impressive offensively but what he needs to work on is his lateral skating and his play without the puck.
  9. Yeah - I am sure that some team would have taken Sven plus a 2nd in exchange for their 3rd
  10. In the immortal words of Charlie Brown, "Good grief"
  11. Much as I like Pearson, I still think the Killer Bees were a great line together
  12. Yes, ofc. But we aren't talking skill, but readiness. For example I couldn't see Hogz being pile driven by Matheson like Petey was when he got concussed. From the limited exposure I've see, Hogz has an NHL skill set, not at Petey's level, though, but definitely has an NHL-ready body and work ethic
  13. He is more ready for the NHL than EP was 2 years ago
  14. Until Gaud gets his faceoff % up to around 50%, I still see Sutter on that line (or else never ice the puck and get sheltered o-zone starts) I don't think Toffee resigns, which moves BB back up, and Jake with Bo. Is Leivo gone in your mind? No room for Lind?
  15. If and when play resumes, what will be the new normal? Some things buddies and I have been mulling over: Will full face shields be compulsory? Will hitting be allowed? Will post whistle scrums result in penalties? Will face washing result in a match penalty and automatic ejection? Will team benches be extended to allow for 2 meter spacing? Will goal celebrations be solitary, with no team hugs? And if most of these are in place, will the game be worth watching?
  16. Well, I based it on Benning's own comments that they wouldn't have pursued TT had BB not been injured (and the expectation was that he was lost for the season) (I can't find a way to attach the link to his interview video, but you can find it on the Canucks webpage)
  17. Our record without TT was pretty good the first 50 games, not so good the last 10 (mostly without Marky). Without Tanev those first 50 games would have been a bust. That was my point. We need a top 4 d-man more than we need a top 6 forward
  18. I've said in another thread by game 10 next season our D will be: Hughes-Tanev .... Edler-Tryamkin...... Juolevi-Myers. Leaves Benn as our 7th and Rafferty as 1st call up. Goodbye to Stecher and Fanta
  19. For my money (and I know it's not) I'd retain Marky and Tanev and let TT go, if it boils down to just 2 of the 3. Toffee was never brought in to be a complementary piece on the top 6, but rather as an injury replacement should BB be out until deep into the playoffs. We did just fine scoring-wise until BB went down (I don't remember Toffee on the scoresheet during the 2 long win streaks or in any of the 7 goal binges .... yes he did get 2 goals in the Boston rout, but they were the super insurance goals number 7 and 8) Let's face it, scoring wasn't an issue. Defense was. So why wouldn't we try to resign our best defensive d-man? As an aside, I think Stecher is gone. He'll get the Hutton treatment. No qualifying offer, then a much lower offer to see if he wants to stay in Vancouver, especially if JB can get Tree signed beforehand. I think Rafferty needs another 1/2 season in Utica to work on the defensive side of his game, but I do see OJ starting with the big club, understudying the Eagle. Even if he doesn't play many games initially, practicing and scrimmaging with the big club will help him immensely. But I think we will see a lot of Hughes/Tanev ... Edler/Tryamkin and Juolevi/Myers this next season.
  20. This is all too mush for me. Get him signed already. Hogz too, Jimbo, while you are at it
  21. Yeah - I did too. Not sure Hogz would be flattered by the reference
  22. Interesting piece out today ...... https://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/williamsvilles-justin-bailey-waiting-to-resume-monster-season-with-comets
  23. Didn't he turn down a larger Dallas offer to sign with the Twins? Rather than a "business first" type I think he is a team-first guy Unfortunately the magic he and the Twins displayed on the larger ice didn't translate to NHL rinks
  24. Like a fine whisky. Not older but better
