  1. I am not convinced Bo is the right fit for these 2 wingers. Undoubtedly Pearson and Toffoli have chemistry together (does help their being besties too), but look at the origins of that success ...... With the LA farm team, the Manchester Monarchs, they were centered by Linden Vey, a pass-first player. When called up to the big team, after a few games they were put together on a line with Jeff Carter (another pass-first player) to form the heralded "seventies line" Bo is not a pass-first player. He is often a bull in a China shop,, taking on the whole opposition to barrel his way thru. If ne weren't so good at faceoffs, he'd make a great power winger. The best pass-first center we have in the system is Petey, but he sucks at faceoffs. Next best (imo) is Jasek. He was great with Lind and Bailey, but has been moved back to the wing with John Stevens return. Carter did get a lot of goals by being a net front presence, and Bo does too, so there is that. I think Pearson with Bo and Toffee with Petey works just fine
  2. Wasn't it coz it was his turn to sit under the veterans rules? In the games I have been watching he has done well defensively, even to the extent that he is now on the second PK unit
  3. Except he wasn't. That first goal doesnt happen if Loui was on Bo's line. Jake just lost his man, was caught watching from the blue line waiting for the breakout pass instead of being responsible defensively
  4. Had a great game vs the Comets a few days ago - that's what earned his promotion to the bigs
  5. Unless Benn was papered down at the deadline (I don't think he was) then they can't send him to Utica. I think of the current roster, only MacEwen was papered.
  6. And Beezer was sent back to Utica yesterday (but not in time to make the game) so the roster room has been made available for BB's return to the Nux
  7. Utica would love to have BB on a conditioning stint - but is that now possible with frozen rosters?
  8. Shouldn't Mac be moved from the prospects category to the big club?
  9. If Baertschi is out for an extended period, how much space will that add? Just the cap savings that the AHL demotion garnered for us?
  10. I'd take Goldy in a heartbeat. He has been excelling in Utica, 1st unit PP, first over the boards on PK (yes, and has done surprisingly well with 7 ppg's and 1 shg) I just wish he would shoot more (19 goals on 91 shots in 50 games vs. Boucher's 34 goals on 214 shots in 52 games). He has done everything asked of him, hasn't complained and I do hope Benning re-signs him to at least 1 more year (but I fear that train has left the station)
  11. Some interesting stats I found: (didn't think it warranted it's own thread) Player. ..... total time on ice ..... points per 100 mins on ice Toffoli. 141 mins. 5.7 pts/100 Miller. 1339. 5.3 Pettersson. 1220. 5.2 Gaudette. 709. 4.5 Boeser. 1041. 4.3 Pearson. 1103. 4.1 Virtanen. 876. 4.1 Horvat. 1320. 3.9 Ferland. 137. 3.6 Hughes. 1436. 3.6 Leivo. 540. 3.5 MacEwen. 146. 3.4 Roussel. 467. 2.8 Sutter. 635. 2.7 Eriksson. 596. 2.2 Motte. 418. 1.9 Beagle. 691. 1.2 Schaller. 596. 1.0 Reinforces what a master stroke it was JB getting Miller!!
  12. So does Quinn Hughes, as he himself admits. Just as Stecher has learned a thing or 2 offensively from Hughes, Quinn needs to take some of Troy's bodywork to heart and not just rely on an active stick
  13. Sticking point is that he wants Goldy called up if he comes this season, and resigned and guaranteed with the big club next season so that he has a Russian speaking buddy to explain the system and Green/Baumgartner's instructions about how to execute the drop pass Year after that is OK cos Podz will be on board by then
  14. Lind with the o/t winner on a great set up by Rafferty 20200307_173431.mp4
  15. Boucher again. Ties Alex Grenier for most points by a player in a Comets sweater (and ties the game 2 - 2)
  16. Comets on the PP with 8 mins left in the 3rd. - still 2 - 1
  17. Humerous little sidenote: When Dyson Stevenson was acquired, Cull said "we already have a Steven's (John) so to avoid confusion, what should we call you?" His answer "just call me nailgun" (google Dyson Nailgun for the context) So after a questionable hit on a Comet, comment was " and Jasek feathers it into the corner so that Nailgun can staple the Charlotte player to the boards"
  18. Ah - likely with Graovac being reactivated
