  1. Like Bailey and Boucher, mostly his passes are on the mark. But when pressured he does throw the puck away. Not quite so patient as the other above mentioned 4. But IMO Lind is almost NHL ready. His skating is good, he forechecks and hits, has a good net presence (to the extent that he can be a known pest ... " Lind doing Lind things" I've heard a few times). He has great chemistry with Bailey, and in the handful of games he played center, acquitted himself well. Cull doesn't use him much on the Penalty kill, but not because his defensive play is suspect - more because he has more experienced options available (and here a shout out to Goldy, who has been doing well with Boucher as the 2nd pair over the boards)
  2. Now 4 - 1 Belleville. And that's it for me - I've been recording the AllStar game, so am going to exit AHL TV and watch the boys
  3. Undisciplined crosschecking penalty by Bailey - Belleville score 6 seconds in after winning faceoff
  4. Bailey "cleans up the garbage" with 6 secs left in the second to make it 2 - 1 Senators 20200125_174101.mp4
  5. Petgrave. - just as the commentator was saying how much trust Cull was placing on him in just his 2nd AHL game
  6. And Senators get a shorty, on a picked off pass 2 - 0 Belleville
  7. Belleville on another powerplay 3 mins into the 2nd Killed it Finally. A Comets powerplay
  8. Was in the kitchen for 4 to 5 minutes of the game, just listening to the audio, and didn't need to hear the players names to work out which lines were on. "Pass just out of reach...." "Pass just behind him" "Pass picked off " Were frequent. Fewer times heard : "Tape to tape pass there ..." "Stretch pass right on his stick ..." "Angled off the boards right onto his stick .." The point of this? The elite passers are few - Baertschi, Goldobin, Rafferty and Juolevi The fumblers? Almost everyone else
  9. I'm on the AHL TV network, but as a subscriber. (First period ends 1 - 0 Belleville)
  10. Power play for Belleville, the OJ takes a delay of game, so 5 on 3 And Senators score
  11. This defensive box collapse must be a Canucks institutionalized thing, as Utica are doing it too.. concede the points to the oppo, and collapse, allowing point shots. Rely on a takeaway in a scramble then ice the puck. So frustrating, with no forwards pressuring the point men
  12. Steven's between Baertschi and Boucher to start this one 6 mins in and no score. - Utica without a shot on goal yet, Belleville with 3
  13. Some musings about the Comets in January Subtitled.......... "Don't mess with success" Comets started January with 2 losses, then went on a streak of 5 wins in 6 games. Climbed up the standings, and everyone was feeling the rush. Then. .... 3 losses in a row. What happened? The major difference between the winning run and this losing streak is the line combinations. The line of Bailey-Jasek-Lind was dominating the opposition, and on their heels came Goldy-Camper-Boucher, who were also producing. Then the lines were shuffled to accommodate returning players - MacEwen from the Canucks and Baertschi and Stevens from injury. Jasek was demoted to the 3rd line to let Steven's center the big line (and he did score a shorty yesterday as well as assisting on Baileys goal) but they were never the threat over the last 3 games that the Bailey-Jasek-Lind line was that delivered the 3 hat tricks in 4 games. Big Mac slotted into the 3rd line that had seen Baertschi as the playmaker with Pope or Hamilton centering and Stevenson or Perron on the other wing, and got Jasek as the center. Frankly, Mac has looked rusty, and there wasn't any evident chemistry with Baer or Jasek. (Baertschi gets a pass from criticism as he was an integral part of the 5 in 6 win streak) I am aware that personnel decisions are often governed by the veteran/exempt veteran rules, but the basic question is "why mess with success?"
  14. He played on Friday evening, and will be at the AHL Allstar game
  15. Interesting - Comets website shows 5 -3, yet AHL gamestats show the (correct) score as 5 -2, as does the recorded TV feed Ah - now corrected to 5 -2 on the website
  16. Scrappy game. 3rd fight just over. Comets fisticuffers are Gadjovich, leBlanc and Sautner
  17. Belleville scores 4 on 4 to make it 3-2 And score again, making it 4 -2 with 11 minutes left
  18. Belleville get their own shorty to make it 2 -2
  19. It's puzzling why Reid Boucher hasn't made it in the NHL. He's got all the tools, leads the AHL in points, is on the 1st unit Powerplay as well as the 1st unit penalty kill. He has decent, Horvat like speed, and hits about 5 times as much as Bo. Forechecks well, is responsible defensively, and is fairly durable. So why hasn't he hung around on the few looks he's had with big clubs?
  20. Stevens with a shorty!!! 2 - 1 Comets Period ends with that 2 -1 score 20200124_164717.mp4
  21. Comets pking on another hook by Goldy. Not endearing himself to Cull this period
