  1. Extract from April 2022 article ... While Pearson isn’t a game-breaker, he is the type of player that helps teams win. He ranks third out of regular skaters on the team with a Corsi For % of 52.92% and the Canucks have outscored their opposition 41-29 with him on the ice at 5-on-5. His analytics compare well to players on the team that are more highly regarded like Bo Horvat, Elias Pettersson, and Brock Boeser. While none of this is to say that Pearson is the same quality player as those three, he has been driving play in the Canucks’ direction and fulfilled his role very well. Pearson’s fit on the Canucks this season While Pearson has been stapled to Bo Horvat’s wing for the past few seasons, seemingly the only duo that former head coach Travis Green refused to break up, this season he’s had the chance to play with some new linemates. This has been an interesting experiment that has yielded some very positive results. Tanner Pearson Stats (Natural Stat Trick) Pearson with Miller has been the most interesting new duo and the two have produced some great results. They’ve been heavy on the forecheck and able to create turnovers in the offensive zone. Boudreau has played the two players together lots and they’ve put up results over a large sample size.
  2. Apologies if it's been said already, but "historically bad" ?????? We started last season with 6 games on the road, and went 3-2-1. I started following the Canucks in 1982, and can remember many worse starts than that!! (e.g. in our most recent SCF year, we went 2-3-1, with 3 of these 6 at home) The 84-85 (Bill LaForge) era was among the worst. .... 1-5 in the first 6, continuing ineptitude to 1-9 after ten, and 4-14-2 when he got fired after twenty
  3. By "soon" I meant in a couple of years, not tomorrow. Most of those cited Canadians will be gone, replaced by the Lekkerimakis, Petterssons, McDonoughs, etc (and Kudryavtsev). That was the point of my tongue in cheek comment
  4. Then you'd have a team of Kadris coached by Babcock. Not interested in that
  5. One pundit recently (wish I could remember who) said that Cull had been more of a father figure to the kids in Utica, preparing them holistically for a life as a pro, whereas Colliton is more systemic, analytics driven.... you want to be in the NHL, here's what you need to do and we'll do everything in our power to help get you there. And ofc the Abby kids will listen to him, he does have NHL coaching credentials after all (not implying that they didn't listen to Cull, but a slightly different, nuanced, message from him)
  6. Joey asked that he be benched as he couldn't pronounce his name
  7. Aman and Karlsson should feel right at home, with more ice to work with 4 - 4 Edit: that aged quickly
  8. In an interview earlier this year he said it was genetic ... doesn't work out particularly hard to maintain his muscle mass and sculpting
  9. The good times are back !! I watched the Calgary game on my tablet - forgot I could screen share on my TV . Now its 70" heaven!!
  10. Canucks prolly asked for lots of calls - they need to hone their PK under match conditions, not practices
  11. They've approached Biega to coach - figured a bulldog would be needed to keep the pack in line

  13. Prolly a skate in the park for him, given he shone for Latvia in the Worlds, against much tougher competition
  14. Soon Bo (assuming he's resigned) will be the only Canadian on the team!!

  17. Last season there were 7 female referees and 3 linesmen (linespersons?) in the AHL https://theahl.com/ahl-staff-female-officials
  18. Larianov was contemperaneous with Messier in his glory Ranger days. -- fans here excoriate him for his Vancouver captaincy. When he led the Rangers to their Stanleg Cup he was lauded as one of the all-time great captains. Canucks fans hatred for him has poisoned their memories of that.
  19. Not this season, but soon, Podkolzin will get an "A" Larianov named him captain of his junior nationals, clearly being groomed for full team captaincy. He even compared him to a young Messier. So, endorsement coming soon, .........
  20. And some good chemistry with Petey too ...

  22. I'm neither a capologist nor Canucks management material, but I'd be surprised to see anything other than 8 years at $7M. JR/PA will find ways to create the cap space when needed. Bo is no less valuable to this team than JT is.
