  1. I wonder how strong his slap shot can be once he works on it? The Canucks are lacking defencemen who can really blast the puck from the point. Edler and Weber (he barely counts) are the only ones I see at the moment.
  2. I haven't watched any films in a little while, but I'll share some of my all-time favorites (in no order): Drive No Country For Old Men There Will Be Blood Lord of The Rings Trilogy Memento Batman Begins The Dark Knight Watchmen 2001: A Space Odyssey The Shining Spider-Man 2 Django Unchained Shawshank Resemption Pulp Fiction Toy Story Trilogy I probably forgot a few, I'll edit when I remember.
  3. I was happy that Boeser got such a big opportunity last game (with the suspension and all). I can't wait to see what he brings to the table in the next few games.
  4. I don't understand, but let's see what happens in the summer then.
  5. What does that mean? Pity for what?
  6. I completely agree, I just want to watch Jake and Boeser.
  7. I was watching a Canucks YouTube video yesterday, it was the one that showed him signing his contract with Benning. He said he really wants to take his game to the next level and play in the NHL, so I'm sure he'll end up in North America one way or another.
  8. If you actually went back to read the beginning of this discussion, you would see nobody is complaining about him not getting a letter. Nice try though.
  9. No, it's the doubters that were freaking out over it. They'll cling to anything that they can use to make Jake look bad. Pretty sad if you ask me.
  10. I'm a bit new here as well, so I'm not sure how to properly embed YouTube videos.
  11. You have good taste there. I've been listening to "Black Friday" by Kendrick Lamar for the past few days/weeks.
  12. That would be my bet on his eventual locker room nickname.
  13. I would be really happy if Tryamkin turns into a great player for us. I like the idea of having a skilled giant on our blue line. If Pedan can make the team as well, we'll be scary.
  14. It obviously depends on when anyone is good enough to steal his spot. Derp's projection is about 3 years from now. Tanev will be around 29, probably nearing the end of his prime unless he ages really well. I personally think that we will have a stud Defenceman (or 2) by then, and Tanev will be an excellent 2nd line depth defenseman for us.
  15. I think it really depends on how his offense develops. One obvious knock against Tanev is his lack of producing consistent scoring chances. Hutton has been robbed of a number of goals this season, but he still has a solid 9 assists on his resume. If he continues to grow his offensive game and stays solid defensively, he'll do some great things for this club in the near future.
  16. I don't think it's fair to assume that all pro players can handle pressure. Doesn't that sound like an over generalization, since each player is unique and has different mindsets? Isn't that why people debate the clutch factor of players? That's less about the skill of a player, and more about how they handle extreme one ice situations. And to be honest, only a few player can handle it consistently. That being said, I think Jake will be fine.
  17. He can't do "diddly-squat" at the pro level? Ok....If you lack patience, that's your problem, not Jake's or anyone else's. That's no reason to get upset at him with the current state of the team. I've already accepted and come to terms with the inevitability that there will probably be a difficult few seasons for this team in it's transition from the Sedin era to a new one.
  18. I don't think anyone here actually HATES Nylander as a person, they just hate: 1. The team that drafted him. 2. The fact that he's the go-to comparison for Virtanen haters/doubters. I'm just sitting here, glad that this club is getting back to a drafting type culture. I like all of our prospects, and want all of them to do great for us. There's time for debating the ups and downs of the picks in the future if you ask me....
  19. I wonder what rock the haters hide under during performances like this? I hope it's comfortable, because it's gonna be a long tournament for them...
  20. Benning probably understands the value of good defencemen, looking at what Boston has been rolling out in recent years. This is a great sign.
  21. He's on the last year of his KHL contract, so most likely.
  22. Some quotes from a recent article on Brisebois that the Canucks App posted. "He came to the office to sign his contract and I tried to play a joke on him" laughed Titan GM Sylvain Couturier. "I gave him a Flyers pen to sign his contract with and he didn't want to use that pen at all. He said 'I'm not touching that'. He was really proud to sign with the Canucks" "He has been put in tough situations and given tough assignments for a young player, but he always answers the challenge. I think this has been good for him. He is playing 25 minutes a night, so there is a lot of ice time for him, but at the same time, those are tough minutes he's playing going up against the best players in the QMJHL night after night."
  23. I don't have the same opinion Virtanen's play as you, that obviously means I didn't watch any of the exhibition games. It also means that I'm not going to watch any of the WJC games either. Cool, thanks for letting me know.
  24. I haven't said anything like that. I just find it amusing whenever I see people on the internet assert their opinions on others. Again, your word is definitely law above all else. The tournament hasn't even started yet....
