[Report] Canucks fire 5 amateur scouts
SilentSam replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
The team needs scouts who are ready to travel at a moment’s notice without “family” type commitments .. these guys should be on the road 2-3 weeks out of every month. it’s one thing to have a “guy” (or girl ) in an area,. But ultimately it’s the consensus of a team of scouts who bring their opinions to discuss a players potential after they see him “in action” of a number of games. I wonder if T Gradin still holds his job in Europe? -
That would be sweet,. I think that would come with strong NTC’s though.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
SilentSam replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Miller is actually at the perfect age to lead this Team and young progressing core, bringing all of his own ascending game along with it. I appreciate your thoughts, of course we all do of each other when, we agree Millers familiarity with the players here, and the fact he wants to be here , quantifies and affirms how he matches here. Bringing “someone” else in , does not. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts,. What he has brought here this season in the way of points, and in the process shared those points in goals or assists with his own,. Will only return to him in favour as these years unfold. Its the “give back” that good chemistry brings, everybody riding on each other’s cape Miller will do well here for at least 6 more years,. Because our young core is advancing that way too. it’s the “rebound effect”. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
SilentSam replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
It’s all very interesting indeed, So let’s say HYPOTHETICALLY that trades happens.. This team loses a lot in value because of the relationship valued between Team and Player. Lets not forget Miller has ascended to his play with this team , not with another. His play might drop off with another team, before it drops off here. Chemistry is just as much a part of all of this, as is the “face value”.… and who is to say any incoming players would fit with this team. I hope Miller and the Canucks realize what his body of work is here, and HOW that has come about. It seems the Player, Miller , has spoken more openly about that,. And JR seems to be speaking hard ball. yes, a bit of posturing on both sides, maybe not.. but we’ll see. The other thing to put some value in is if he signs his extension.. even though this is the last year of his 5+m contract, Miller has just played a 7m season, ascending to that .. Lets “SAY” Miller signs the extension,. we come out of the gate hot, (2022-23) and the team stays on this .736 winning (aprox) average.. and Miller scales up to about the 110 pts number.. and is a big part of us going deep. Is that not like a signing bonus back ? Regardless,. We have got great value out of Miller so far,. and if his next contract shows a bit of that.. I’m ok with it. But to lose him to possibilities in a trade, after he has proven himself, not just in the sense of points, but leadership value and versatility. is going to be a lot waiting for us to see a player like this again. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
SilentSam replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think the bigger problem with this entire discussion, and where things got out of whack is how posters were over valuing his trade value. Ive always thought he would sign for somewhere around the lower 8m figure.. movable after 3 years, regardless of term. Hertyls contract is somewhat comparable, but not something exact. Ever players outlook on money/ work/ and lifestyle is different. Guys here were trading him for 3 high end player prospects equal or better than what Podz has been showing us. I think that’s how this has gotten out of whack. Even if he doesn’t sign here,. what we get isn’t going to be the entire future of another team. .. and what we take back in a trade might have to absorb some of the possible capspace Miller might be looking for in a deal. it’s all very interesting indeed, regardless I’d be happy to see him back, this player brings a lot to the adhesivness and energy of this team. It will be hard to replace,. And it won’t be coming back in any trade. -

Yeah,. Q: Why should we feed a carnivore meat? A: cause we can trade him for 3 squirrels we can feed with peanuts. -

Bring back MacEwan (RFA). I think his upside can still be tapped on by Bruce.. Zack was a really good point getter , goal scorer in Junior.. Sometimes the size of a player in the NHL outweighs what he can potentially bring skill wise. Zach does have talent. I still think we should try and get a 3 year movable contract on E Kane. if it dosent work out for what ever reason this season , I’m sure he’ll still be contributing enough points to bring good back at the TDL. I think he is still a chance worth taking. -
What Bruce needs to work on in the off-season
SilentSam replied to DownUndaCanuck's topic in Canucks Talk
Very Very Nice,. News like this will keep his players highly motivated im sure.. the whole team should go have a fishing derby up coast this Summer just before Camp. -
As sympathetic as I am regarding the personal off ice issues with this player,. I do think my above quote makes sense of this situation. He needs no pressure. Perhaps , his rights are still tradable, .. if this is something the player requires, and it may be in the best interest for all parties for him to leave the Canucks. I can understand his season better now knowing what Boeser is going through, having losing my father to Parkinson’s Disease 7 years ago.. and personal agony of experiencing a quality man in my life, slowly lose all of his faculties over the course of 10 years after being diagnosed. What is best for Brock at this time , is what will be best for all,. There can be no regrets as he moves ahead, and friends, family, Team and management will surely be supportive of it. Personally, I’d love to share my experiences with this young man .. and the tools to cope with it My father taught me well about life and death, When you feel a life slipping away from you, or are dealing with loss… Fill that loss with the pride you have for that person, they have given you life, or experiences for you to carry forth in life that no other person can. that is their undying love and happiness they gave for you to survive on. Best Wishes to Brock. You will come out stronger for this.

(Discussion) #15 Ryan Hofer WHL Everett Silvertips
SilentSam replied to SilentSam's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Oops…. Changed it ! Lol thank you!! -
He was undraftedinto the WHL, signed with Everett as an 18 yr old in 2020. Invited to Colorado Avalanche Camp last season.. Has been lighting it up , and playing rock em sock em hockey this season. great skater, good shooter, nose for the crease.. and to be honest , can handle himself very well. could be a good signing for any club in the Summer. I wonder if he’s crossed the Canucks Radar? 2021 - 22 Regular Season EVT 67. 25 33 58 +30 2022 WHL Playoffs EVT 5 . 5 3 8 +3. not finding much tape on him, and what little is public, is ok , but not edited well.

Agree 100% if there was ever a time management was gifted a template of a “good “ Canucks Team that they could manipulate and tweak to create a “great” team .. it’s definitely durring this off season. On top of that , a new management group, lots of knowledge taking part in every discussion. Not only analytically, but also seasoned knowledge of the contemporary hockey player “types”, and what they bring to a “team” game. My thanks first go to ownership for this season, as much as it goes to Bruce Boudreau, for showing up when it was needed.. it was this first change that was absolutely necessary to move the chess pieces and get to a positive end to the season, regardless of playoff appearances. JT. Glad your here, hope you stay, the rest will fall into place,. A lot already has. Very interesting Summer coming up,. I just hope Podz is allergic to Hot Dogs and Vodka
