  1. Caught this out of a SN feed this morning, no wonder the Sharks were keen on losing Kane : With the Sharks terminating Evander Kane’s contract and freeing up $7 million in cap space for the next three seasons, there is suddenly enough dough to take care of Hertl, who already hit the 20-goal plateau in January. Yes, Hertl could be the best rental forward on the market, but he’d be nearly impossible to replace internally next season. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/nhl-best-unrestricted-free-agents-2022-ufas-rumours/
  2. Government seems to get there own positive / negative testing terminology backwards. Personally I take a negative test as “ not having” and a positive test “as having” From Dec 15 th. Into Canada having tested with Covid prior: If you’ve already had COVID-19 and recovered If you are now symptom-free, you can provide proof of a positive COVID-19 molecular test when crossing the border, instead of a negative one. The test must have been taken at least 15 and no more than 180 days before (starting January 15, 2022, between 11 and 180 days): the initial scheduled departure time of your aircraft your scheduled entry into Canada by water or land The proof of the positive result must be from an accepted type of molecular test If your positive proof is accepted you won’t have to take arrival or Day-8 tests https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada#pre-entry-testing Edit: Dec 15th they quote Jan 15th changes ?? are governments always this confusing?
  3. More muush,. a news article : Kane, while a member of the Barracuda, the Sharks’ AHL affiliate, tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 21 and entered that league’s protocol, which stated at the time that symptomatic individuals must isolate themselves for 10 days after a positive test. If , a player can continue to be tested daily and would be subject to an early exit from isolation with two consecutive negative PCR tests. The Canadian government states on its COVID travel website that individuals who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, or who have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 15 days, may not enter Canada by air on a public flight. Those restrictions are also in place for Canadian citizens, which Kane is. I’ve emphasized “enter Canada by air on a public flight” ..….. waiting for that “ahaaa!” Moment
  4. Regardless, if he entered into Vancouver (and did not stay in the plane). He would have to show a legit negative test taken within 72 hours of that test. That would be the 2 main items this investigation would be looking for I think? a legitimate passport stamp that he actually entered Canada,. And a Negative Covid test taken within 72 hours of entry ?? .. and of course any team / player e mails regarding expectations to be with the club . I wonder how often players are regularly tested regardless of playing or out with symptoms. If your symptomatic I imagine tested until negative?
  5. I wonder if he could have tested again during that protocol ? If he had another test that showed negative. Could he had cleared customs / border with a new negative test within the required 72 hours of that test? “LIFTING SHORT TRIP PRE-ARRIVAL TEST EXEMPTION “ I dug this up from Dec 17 Government site: Government of Canada announces additional measures to contain the spread of the Omicron variant From: Public Health Agency of Canada News release December 17, 2021 - Ottawa, Ontario - Government of Canada In response to the significant risks and uncertainties presented by the spread of the Omicron variant in Canada and globally, today the Minister of Health, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos announced further adjustments to travel and border measures. These measures, guided by prudence, are intended to reduce the transmission of the Omicron variant in Canada and to help provinces and territories slow community spread. Lifting entry prohibitions With the evolving situation and overwhelming evidence of community transmission of Omicron in most countries around the world, including Canada, the Government of Canada has decided to lift the extraordinary measures for travellers returning from the ten specific countries initially listed. This will be in effect as of December 18 at 11:59pm. While we recognize the controversial nature of this measure, we believe it was necessary to slow the arrival of Omicron in Canada and buy us some time. Given the current situation, this measure has served its purpose and is no longer needed. Similarly, the requirements for Canadians and others with right of entry who have been in or travelled from these countries within 14 days to obtain a valid negative pre-departure molecular test in a third country, and to stay in a designated quarantine facility, upon the direction of a quarantine officer, while they await the results of their arrival test, will also be lifted. Lifting short trip pre-arrival test exemption As another layer of precaution, we will reinstate the requirement for a pre-arrival negative PCR test result for all travellers leaving the country for less than 72 hours. As of December 21, the requirement for pre-arrival testing will be in place again for trips of all durations. It is important to note that this pre-arrival test MUST be taken in a country other than Canada. Testing We have also significantly increased the on-arrival testing resources. We went from a capacity to test 11,000 air travellers a day on November 30 to 20,960 tests as of December 16. The Government of Canada is working closely with airport authorities, airlines, and testing providers and many other partners to increase capacity at airports, manage traveller flow and to make sure that the testing protocol is as efficient as possible. Advice to travellers As of December 15, the Government of Canada is advising Canadians to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada at this time. Travel restrictions continue to change around the world and return options could become limited at any time. Now is not the time to travel. If they need to travel, all fully vaccinated travellers are asked to follow public health measures, including wearing a well-fitted and well-constructed mask, maintaining a list of contacts for the 14 days after entry to Canada, and exercising extra precautions by avoiding high-risk settings such as long-term care facilities. All returning unvaccinated travellers must continue to quarantine for 14 days. All travellers arriving, by all modes of travel, must submit their information into ArriveCAN. To reduce the wait time to access a test and ease congestion at airports, travellers allowed to enter Canada are strongly encouraged to pre-register with the testing provider at their arrival airport prior to coming to Canada. The Government of Canada recognizes that changing border measures can pose challenges for individuals and families. All border measures will continue to be evaluated and are subject to adjustments based on the latest science, evidence, and data.
  6. I appreciate this Mil , I just want to add @Provost’s quote from earlier, just to show how very interesting this is : The memo was reported widely in the media on the 29th, no idea when it actually went out to the NHLPA and players. The CDC policy changed on the 22nd. He didn’t reportedly travel for 7 days. Vs. The required 5. There are some timelines things that can be brought into evidence from either side that can sway things a little, but nothing seems to overcome the fact the incident is really minor compared with other more serious actual criminal convictions some players have had that didn’t result in a tiny fraction of the punishment. An example of timeline evidence is if Kane’s team can show an email from the NHLPA about the policy changing on the 27th, and then show Kane actually booked a flight any time after becoming aware of that… the San Jose case is almost surely done. Something clear like that also probably opens them up for punitive damages. They unilaterally canceled a $22+ million dollar contract without giving him a chance to explain or present exculpatory evidence? Yikes that would show they are just being patently unreasonable. If he didn’t actually get to Canada? Again how do they fire him without checking into thst? My mind is still open to the possibility there is a lot more to the story. It seems so outrageous an action by San Jose that they could have some iron clad evidence. Like a chain of emails telling him he isn’t allowed to travel, him telling them to eff off, and then falsifying a negative COVID test to illegally cross the border. We know he is a dummy so it isn’t impossible there is something line that out there.
  7. I kind of wish we could have held in to Benning in a scouting capacity,. especially if he’s still on the payroll lol !
  8. Nurse, huge overpayment.. but an ok D man. …. but is the entire league low on good D stock? perhaps some have it to good ?? we do have good prospects, be interesting what MacDonaugh does at the end of his season. Jurmo, 2 years away.. I beleive we have another gem playing for the Blazers?
  9. I still feel what I stated was in good humour,. I even have good friends who’ve struggled / struggle with their vices or “demons” who try to find that same humour in themselves. regardless. my apologies.
  10. They were doing great, but every other team is elevating there game,. He needs to make 3 moves.. this one with Kane to give McJesus more room. a goalie .. desperately. and another physical D man,. Hopefully trade Barrie.
  11. Not sure what happened there, thought you blocked me? Seems you took light joke out of context and you vented all your personal issues with me over it. in one of my posts I mentioned how I have helped others out in my lifetime,. I do know a great Psychologist if you need one . …. or if a truce helps .. might be a low risk opportunity your looking for
  12. I think Ken would have asked for his leaderships thoughts and concerns
  13. @canuck73_3.. you just trolling again? .. did you bring your Spider-Man band aids this time?
  14. I heard they are investigating it,. the other offsetting information I read is that the travel quarantine changed from 10 days to 5 days in that time. what is more interesting is that it seems San Jose terminated his contract over that reason without disclosing any information to show proof of it. … why is the NHL only investigating for that information now?
  15. I get ya but Don’t beleive or read too much into that (cancer / destruction in the room stuff). Listen to McDavid,. This is a buissness, what happens in the ice and that contribution is what counts . Lots of “Alpha” types in Male Dominated sports.. that pecking order can be worse than try to get a dozen eggs out of the coop.
  16. Actually in an interview last year he mentioned he was getting help for his gambling addiction and doing the work.. that it seems has got him in some personal trouble. The gambling against his team investigated by the NHL cleared him of that .. was found to be made up lies by his wife, the two are involved in a bitter divorce case , Kane has been given sole custody of his daughter as this is worked out. if you can’t find the interview shoot me a private, and I’ll try to locate again. Ive been more about the player type, that the Canucks needed in this thread,. Kane to me was a very low, short term risk, for minimum dollars that I thought Petey, Miller ,Garland and others would embrace. Im sure McDavid (if Kane is an Oiler), will appreciate a lot of the heat and tight checking dissipate, when another heavy gun is within the ranks.
  17. Agree with you. But I’m sure we’ve both watched the game evolve on many levels,. This is just another one of those levels. John Scott perhaps helped the league realize the multi tiered level of the sport by “reluctantly” allowing him to be included in The All star game.. but the league really dosent know how to leverage anything. there are always going to be athletes who don’t act like most fans want them to.. discerning what IS truly wrong , from what really IS NOT , is sometimes a lot of time wasted.
  18. Well he hasn’t killed any one, has no drug problems, anything assault related he took to courts , all were thrown out without merit. So the precedent is you can break the drug laws , kill people , and play the game.. but you can’t get into mischief , it’s a career ender? I know where I stand.. and I’m not hurt by any of this. are you?
  19. Maybe he got the idea from them? why not? What’s the outrage? flaunting money? posing with money? Theres a law for that too ? Social media thrives on photo ops.. Crazy times.
  20. Drug problems and car accidents? Probert went to jail for trafficking Cocaine across the border. Heatley and Mactavish killed other humans driving while intoxicated,. All continued to play the game.
  21. The Sedin era,. No answer to Duncan Keith,. repetitious assaults by Brad Marchand,. and so many more .. Id like to imagine what a team would look like with a true “wing” man on their side? MacDavid has recently come out and endorsed Kane himself.. but what do either of us really know about hockey? perhaps we leave the real life decisions to them.
  22. Bingo. ! Pat Quinn perhaps the last time we had a team with bad boy type hockey.
