This is a solid move that clears roster space for more opportunity. we’ve been handcuffed with LE for the last 5 years.. THAT alone could not wait anymore. people here need to stop looking through the Kaleidoscope when it comes to the Draft. If your not picking in the top 5 , your usually not seeing results for 2-3 years. Podz next season will cure everyone’s curdled milk feelings , Garland will shine as JT Miller has,. And OEL will fit in seemlessly, giving us a powerful pp. Now,. Move Schmidt for Zadorov,. and I might buy a season ticket . Solid Move,. Gets us out of the mud and back on the ice.

Personally, I never thought, or was under the impression that we were going to keep Schmidt.. I thought we would move him after the season. The Blackhawks have a gap with Keith gone, and are probably rebuilding now. Id take Zadorov in a heartbeat for Schmidt. I also wonder if Weber might move out of Montreal. The next few days are going to be interesting.

Canucks release protected list for expansion draft
SilentSam replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Definitely a clear definitive line drawn between our core players protected/ ineligible, and others not as valuable to us. New franchises in the NHL these days definitely get a chance to run on to the ice straight out of the dressing room these days.. include a top blue chip pick pick,. Seattle is going to be crazy with hockey in town. -
This is dope…

He is consistent at it, I’ll give him that. Lol. There’s a difference between UFA aged, Prime, and past Prime.. Edlers true timing on that was his 6yr 5m per, between 2013 and 2019.. his age was then 27-33 yrs old. That is were his true Prime/UFA years rolled into a contract extension from his RFA. I know you’ll correct me if I’m wrong,. Can’t wait for you to go all CAPS Because he is there, and somebody else isn’t, because he is there.. it’s that “some things never change”?.. “and I wonder why?” thought process. Pugsatauni Pete, the ground hog even gets it. But you have him in a cape, and a captain Canuck costume, wanting to sell Alex Edler Lunch Boxes. Sorry, but he is not the size of the wagon wheels we used to get . That’s the compromise that keeps this team in mediocrity.. rinse - repeat. Its the opposite mentality that creates necessary change, even the most unpopular move in this teams history created that.. with the biggest fan favourite of all , Trevor Linden. …. this from a 2020 article.. Feb. 6, 1998 The trade: Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe and a third-round draft pick from the New York Islanders for Trevor Linden There were a lot of tears the day Mike Keenan had his hands on the controls long enough to jettison the iconic Linden to the East Coast. But the trade turned into one of the top three in Canucks history and became even less painful four years later when Vancouver GM Brian Burke repatriated Linden in a deal with Washington. But this trade makes our list not because Bertuzzi developed in Vancouver into, albeit briefly, one of the best power forwards in the NHL, but because the Trevor Linden Trade Tree belongs in the Hockey Hall of Fame. McCabe was sent to Chicago for the Blackhawks’ first pick in the 2000 NHL Draft, which gave Burke the assets he needed to select both Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Burke’s successor, Dave Nonis, built a package around Bertuzzi in 2006 to steal goalie Roberto Luongo from the Florida Panthers — and Keenan — in another epic heist. And Nonis’ successor, Mike Gillis, got eight All-Star seasons from Luongo before returning him to South Florida in 2014 in a deal that brought Jacob Markstrom to Vancouver. Twenty-two years after the original Linden trade — and 12 since Linden retired — Markstrom remains the Canucks’ starting goalie and was having a Vezina-candidate season when it was halted in March. There are numerous other branches to this trade tree, including Jarkko Ruutu, who agitated opponents for more than four seasons in Vancouver after the Canucks used the Islanders’ third-round pick in 1998 to draft him. And you thought Douglas Firs were big

I’ve seen him turn the puck over in his own end too many times, you can break my quotes down all you want to aGent, but there were better D men playing for the money he was paid over the last 2 years. He absorbs minutes, because he is put in a position to get minutes, but strains to be defensively pure, or offensively creative. 6m should get a team those basics. We’re riding a favourite, who dosent show. Im not “attacking him”. That may be a Defensive mechanism of your own kicking in, hoping to create some kind of a shutdown here. Its time to move on from this player like we did Tanev.

6m a year, for 2 years (20&21) was less than what? The nostalgia I’m reading in this thread, about a player a lot posters have placed on a pedestal is Harlequin-esque. The last 2 seasons of Edler have been like watching Sundin in a Canucks jersey,. time to tap out. I’d rather Take a chance on a fiery Alzner.

Last year we picked up Hamonic, played better than Edler. There is nothing saying that we might find someone who played better than Edler did last season for similar, or a tad more money. Karl Alzner was interviewed on the radio the other morning, sounds like he has a chip on his shoulder regarding how his last contract went and game time. My honest opinion is that the sooner we get past this old regime of players who have become fan favourites over the past 10 years, the sooner the change from “mediocrity” happens. Edler was not worth the 6m x he was paid on his last contract.. that has to be taken into account , There has always been a romantic infatuation of Canuck Players Jerseys going to the rafters directly after or before their last game as a Canuck. This is a player that a lot of fans are infatuated with, almost specifically for that reason. In the meantime, Sbisa may have opened up a Pizzeria , but Edler established a franchise of them, and with that last contract did well for himself.

[Rumor] Canucks Interested in Tyler Bertuzzi
SilentSam replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Agree with you , but I would attempt to include him.. some just need a change and a chance. If Detroit can interpret his “game” as poor, in as little amount of games that he has played at the NHL level then that’s amazing. (41 gp in 4 seasons) very limited ice time. 12 pts . not saying everyone deserves JV’s opportunities,. Just think there is more to this player. -

Detroit might just trade TB for the 9oa. I would like to see if we could salvage Evgeny Svechnikov as well in any deal, if it transpires. ES needs a solid chance, in limited time he has proved to be .5 ppg player.. fearless. clear waivers down to the farm late last season. -
Then perhaps we can move Joulevi, to add Zadorov . Money needs to move off the offensive side before we truly upgrade our D. Eriksson Sutter Virtannen Rousell.. ect ect. I know we’re all hoping for the best possible scenarios here, but true creativity and sure minds are needed for it to happen. ive said this before, None of us would pay a house building contractor for any skills or tools he did not bring to build a house. Why in hell do players feel it’s ok to sign a contract and not live up to their own expectations. Something in contract structure needs to change. perhaps it is slowly, RFA’s are getting what were a UFA type contract, it seems a players prime is now considered anywhere from 21- 27 years of age. Not many teams are taking the 30 year old players seriously with their ability to deliver there best hockey to 35 years old anymore. perhaps I’m just spitting chicklets here, but some athletes integrity is short term…. That, or they just don’t feel the drive that young men possess in this game.

Losing Edler and his 6 m, and moving out Schmidt with his 5 m .. OEL fills that void . Edler really was stop gap, and over paid at that. A D core with Myers OEL, Hughes Hamonic, is a great place to start. The 2-3 mil leftover from Edler Schmidt, (after signing OEL) allows for a bump in Hamonics pay.
-
Agree Hughes looks pretty good! if his game translates to the NHL within a. Year perhaps he pushes OJ off somewhere else.

Trade the pick with someone to move up. although-this draft is pretty solid in the top 10, OP at number one is as blue chip as Trevor Linden was. Buffalo with the 1st overall pick,. Now the res a franchise in a pressure situation,. And I don’t think the 1st overall pick is going to save them,. next season for them will be like going to see fireworks and seeing a single signal flare. Enjoyed reading this article by Daniel Gee, who spends a lot of time scouting and keeping an eye on Canuck Prospects. Usually includes a lot of video to verify his opinions. great to follow him on Twitter. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/players-canucks-could-target-nhl-draft
