  1. @janisahockeynutI can see we’re going to get these time travellers dropping in til November.
  2. Hamonic looks happy, his play lately is one of a healthy clear mind and heart.. whatever issues there are for Travis, I’m just happy that he is playing clear minded and above average, and undistracted hockey. prrhaps he has found a home here for at least 2 more years. have to add, I think Hughes plays better defensively with Hamonic,. And that is allowing Hamonic to be more offensive himself at times. Great pairing, Chemistry can be everything.
  3. Careful of your sources,. Twitter is the worst. Googling can almost guarantee a video, or documented report on quotes from management or organizational heads.
  4. I have to say , this is contrary to everything I’ve heard come out of JB’ mouth over the past 4 years. He has always left a door open for Tryamkins return.
  5. So much for my Big City Idea then..
  6. My amended wish list: Myers Schmidt Hamonic Hughes Zadorov Tryamkin Rathbone / Woo (rolling aces) We can theoretically sign Hamonic Tryamkin and Zadorov by sharing the money from Edlers 6m Zadorov comes to us as an RFA (his rights) for Joulevi and Virtannen mix an match’em .. I don’t read too much into L & R positioning, that’s for face offs and special teams.. players in this day and age can make adjustments accordingly, and they do. it’s the same as having offensive minded D men getting their position covered by a forward.. if these guys are vocal on the ice, this stuff happens. Roaming, not just about your 5 g network. dream a little,. That’s a great looking cost effective D core, with room for Farm Prospect progression. we could be one move away from this after Tryamkin signs
  7. About time you took a step deeper into the darkness Jan I can feel the force in this one
  8. As some one who has watched him a fair amount over the past 4 years, I can say this: This organization has seen nothing like him since the days of Harold Snepts, But this young man will prove to be far better,. And is everything this Team needs to help solidify a D core that takes us deep into the playoffs in the future.
  9. No it won’t! it’s actually exciting! and to think we might get hockey back on the table once everyone is vaccinated, a Sept/Oct start would be fantastic. we have room to get better, it’s easy to see , and we will. I have a feeling that 3rd C position might get shared with whoever is 4th C, I wonder if it’s a position that Podz had experienced playing before. (Thought he did in the WJ’s?) MacEwan was a centre in Junior.. and did very well with it, those bigger men don’t like to stop and start so much,. Center position keeps their edges warm and gait long. I think Myers is starting to look really good again, and if he can have 2 more mates ready to shoulder down on opposing forwards, I think his game rises again.. his puck prowess excels. but just thinking of Zadorov is exciting too.. and the possibility of 3 fluid skating D men over 6’5” .. the whole team grows 2 inches and 15 pounds heavier. ps. Perhaos we can look at Edlers present money distributed into Hamonics upgrade, Tryamkins contracts and possibly Zadorov’s as well.? Hamonic is presently 1.25 add 1.25 for 2.5m per. that leaves 4.75 to distribute between Tryamkin and Zadorov. we need to find a bridge for Quinn. Jakes 2.25 + Joulevi’s .975 + an expiring forward. (will Loui retire I wonder)
  10. I like the idea of not talking Edler anymore,. And I’m sick and tired of people wanting to hang on to drying up Canucks as Ceremonial Figure Heads just in case we win a cup with them and it feels like a Cinderella Moment. Lets get on with establishing this new D core, we are 2 pieces away from that. Tryamkin is one of those,.. and if we get lucky in the Draft Lottery,. Owen Powers, and the next 2 D men available will be better than Joulevi, and they will stack up nicely in the next wave from the farm. Zadorov signed, for Jake and Joulevi would bag it like a Chik Fil a sandwich. Boom.
  11. That starts a pretty good conversation , A seasoned 26 yr old Zadorov over a rookie 24 yr old Joulevi. yes.. we have enough skill in Hughes and Rathbone .. and Schmidt.. you know what would almost secure letting Joulevi go? I think the first 3 picks in the draft are stacking as D men, this should be our year for the draft lottery #1. Owen powers.
  12. my wish list. A dynamic pool of young big, skilled physical mobile men that could interchange with any other D man, each having each other’s back, and playing with a Wolfpack mentality. Myers Schmidt Hamonic Hughes Tryamkin Joulevi Zadorov Rathbone that’s what I would like to see next season. 5 guys who know the NHL game and 3 guys getting there legs . Mix and match em boys. They will grow tighter as a group in the process. perhaps a trade Virtannen for Zadorov, both need a change of scenery. Jake has one more season at 2.5 Zadorov is RFA and might whince , but sign for less than the 3.2 he played for.. and an opportunity to get out of that mess in the USA (Chicago). Kids in culture shock. and if money for D is an issue, then start signing players for less on offence.. Perhaps that’s what JB is doing by stacking with the latest grabs .
  13. I was a big supporter of Jake’s, and had hoped that management and Coaching would give him every opportunity to be the player he could be with his hometown organization. I beleive Every opportunity has been given and Jake has regrettably, as I’m sure he is, proven “ample” progress. If a hockey trade can be made with someone in the same situation, we should do it. perhaps keeping our focus on Defence rather than offence. A trade with Anaheim for Heinen would have helped us, I’m quite familiar with Danton and watch a lot of his BC Junior hockey before he went to college. Heinen is a solid versatile complimentary player, but with the right line mates playing the way he does, he focuse better on shooting outside of the lanes. kid has an ace wrist shot, physically he is gumby, hard to knock off his balance. We should be looking at Zadorov Chi Evengy Svechnikov Det. (recently waivered)
  14. This earlier in the week, apparently his name came up in trades in Chicago.. I wonder if the Canucks didn’t inquire, and perhaps more talk to take place regarding this player . I’m sure they will want to see if something changes in his play by seasons end. The USA is a mess these days, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to understand how a player from a completely other culture and country might not be happy there. NOT entirely sure, but we might even have an opportunity to protect him in the ED. Not quite sure how we stand on our ED protection for D men.. but even if Seattle picked Zadorov, we’ve moved Jake along and letting the dice roll. Latest On Nikita Zadorov, Chicago Blackhawks April 20th, 2021 at 8:30pm CST • By Zach Leach The Chicago Blackhawks were reportedly listening to offers for defenseman Nikita Zadorov at the NHL Trade Deadline, but ultimately decided not to move him. However, that doesn’t mean that the two sides will stay together for much longer. As Ben Pope writesfor the Chicago Sun-Times, the Blackhawks have dropped some hints that they are not content with the big blue liner and time is running out for him to prove himself. Zadorov, 25, is in his first season in Chicago after coming over from the Colorado Avalanche in the Brandon Saad trade this past off-season. The Blackhawks hoped that Zadorov would step into a lineup that was missing many difference-makers on the back end and would transform into a bona fide top pair defenseman. While Zadorov has still been impressive as a physical force and solid defender, there has not been much else to praise about Zadorov’s game this season. He has been firmly entrenched as a second-pair defender in terms of time on ice, is fifth in defensive scoring and even lower in per-game production, and is on pace for a career-high in giveaways, even in a shortened season. Zadorov has merely continued to play the same role in Chicago as he did in Colorado, that of a complementary stay-at-home defenseman. Whilethat is not without value, it isn’t what was expected of the 2013 first-round pick and may not be worth the cost to the Blackhawks. The team has not-so-subtly expressed their frustration recently, acquiring a younger and similar style of defender in RileyStillman and then making Zadorov a healthy scratch on deadline day after discussing him with other teams beforehand. This off-season, Zadorov presents a number of challenges to Chicago. The impending restricted free agent will need a new contract, which at a minimum will require a $3.2MM qualifying offer. However, despite his underwhelming effort this season, Zadorov can probably argue for making more than that and has the option to file for arbitration to support that claim. The problem for the Blackhawks is that they have very few contracts coming off the books this off-season and are projected to have limited cap flexibility to make other moves. Retaining Zadorov at a higher number even further reduces that cap space without making a material change to their roster, which is only a fringe playoff team this season. A potential arbitration case makes using their cap space even more problematic. If therelatively young blue liner demands a long-term deal as well, that becomes an issue with a number of young players already pushing for play time. Beyond the actual contract, the only way that Chicago can ensure that they even retain Zadorov’s RFA rights beyond July 21 is to protect him in the upcoming NHL Expansion Draft. With Duncan Keith and Connor Murphy as virtual locks to be protecting, adding Zadorov to that group would mean exposing valuable veteran Calvin de Haan and the recently-acquired Stillman. Yet, if they don’t protect Zadorov he could very easily be selected and lost for nothing. In order to avoid a difficult expansion decision and possible contract battle and arbitration case, theBlackhawks may decide to re-ignite trade talks for Zadorov once their season has come to an end. Until then, Pope notes that Zadorov will be given every chance to prove that he is worthy of a longer look in Chicago. With de Haan and Adam Boqvist currently injured and the Blackhawks fighting for a playoff spot, Zadorov has the chance to step up and finally show that he can be a complete top-four defenseman. If he succeeds, perhaps all of the off-season issues fall by the wayside in favor of keeping a rare physical specimen and good young defender at all costs. However, if he falters then the partnership between the Blackhawks and Zadorov could be coming to an end sooner rather than later.
  15. Myers Schmidt Hamonic Hughes Tryamkin Joulevi Zadorov Rathbone that’s what I would like to see next season. 5 guys who know the NHL game and 3 guys getting there legs . perhaps a trade Virtannen for Zadorov, both need a change of scenery. Jake has one more season at 2.5 Zadorov is RFA and might whince , but sign for less than the 3.2 he played for. my wish list. Perhaps that’s what JB is doing by stacking with the latest grabs . its buyout time.
  16. Jake for Zadorov, realizing Zadorov is an RFA, both need new scenery.. Jake is 2.5 for one more year. Zadorov coming off a 3.2m contract, thinking Zadorov might take a 2 year cut if he knew an old teammate and comrade if Tryamkin was here. The imminent arrival of Podz, MacEwans decent first (Covid) year of play.. and any of the full abilities of Motte Highmore, Vesey, Boyd and other prospects hoping to show, have pushed Jake past the tipping point. as I understand it, his buy out is next to nothing, but it is a buyout position better saved for someone else.
  17. Gawdz ! Nice to see you back with some more great information.. I have to totally agree with you that size isn’t everything, and that’s probably why Tryamkin is getting another opportunity to play in the NHL You know , when I have to deal with my “Napoleon Syndrome” , I usually grab my Ritz Crackers and watch the video below. it’s a long one , with some present and past greats in it. Have to admit, when the big boys turn it on, Size doesn’t matter to them either. . . But I sure would not stand in the way of them being the little man I am. Its very intimidating actually, Myers, and Tryamkin make the cut in this one,. As does Zadorov, all early in there careers. So here ya go, when the world seems too big and crazy , I find this refreshing. ps.. couldn’t find one on little guys, time to start a revolution.. perhaps a parade starting it off. Don’t forget you’re Ritz Crackers
  18. Realizing how much Nik wants to be back with the Canucks , I wouldn’t be surprised if he signs short term as in 1 year for under what he was offered here before he left (2m x 2). But if it isn’t here, you know he will be the one that haunts us playing for someone else.
  19. If the team and organization only knew how much the Canucks fans despise most of the sports media in Vancouver,.. they could make hay chirping back at stupid questions.. that would be a lot of fun. media: Travis who are you starting in goal tonight? Green: who do you want me to start? Your only going to question my decision for either pick,. So why don’t you pick and I’ll question you.? Media to Miller: JT it looked like you had a lot of hop in your step tonight, how did it feel? Miller: like I had a lot of hop in my step.
  20. Jake’s last few games in our colours. MacEwan stays on the puck, never gives up. Pearsons contract is worth it, and it’s structured well to move after one season. Going to be a sad day if we lose Holtby in the Extorsion Draft. Brock is rocking his shot again.. and is playing 200’ Miller should always wear Captain America shirt under his gear. The Highmore , Vesey , Boyd Hawerlyck acquisitions keep us tenacious .. great grabs. Hamonic,. Let’s talk money and a well structured contract. Myers, gradually getting to another level of his game, loving his board shutdowns. Joulevi ,. Just want him to train well this summer, there’s more there.. but he has to find it, and bring it next season. Edler , I’m still on the fence with, if he comes back as the 7th, on limited ice time, will that offend him.. or does he embrace it knowing that the game will give him more time as next season progresses. Sutter , watching him is like playing where’s Waldo at times... don’t let his last name fool you, he is nothing like the generation before him... he could wear Eriksson’s sweater and get away with it,. I just want to see a full and regular season beginning with exhibition games in September. oh,. Another Margarita just landed..
